Chapter 31
Chapter 31
"How do the away meets normally work?" I asked him out of curiosity. He thought for a moment as he
unstrapped his gloves.
"For this one, we'll ride in a bus to the city. We normally stay in hotels and room up together. The bus
takes us to the venue once for practice then for the actual meet. Afterwards, there's normally some
kind of team dinner, then we come back," he answered.
"Has anyone from the school ever tagged along?" I asked as I undid my own gloves. Sawyer hummed
thoughtfully.
"It's possible. Some students have come along to support other sports. It really depends on when the
meets are held. Obviously, no one is allowed to miss school for it unless it's an important meet. Other
than that, if there's room on the bus and they don't have their own practice, other people can come.
Why? Is Leo coming?" Sawyer replied knowingly. I felt my cheeks grow hot as I put my gear on the
rack.
"He is my personal manager," I lied. Sawyer chuckled as he set his own gear on the rack.
"Honestly, I never thought I'd see the day where Leo was close to someone again. We were actually
friends before his accident. Afterwards, he shut everyone out. I'm glad to see that you two are friends.
Maybe things will start going back to normal for him," Sawyer admitted. Sawyer and Leo used to be
friends? I could see it as a possibility. Sawyer was a nice guy. He was very laidback and easy to get
along with. Sawyer pat my shoulder gently before heading to the locker room. I was deep in thought
when I felt a hand on my shoulder.
"Your practice ended?" Leo's voice pulled me out of my thoughts. I looked at him before I nodded and
followed him to the locker rooms. I couldn't shower because Sawyer was in there, so I just grabbed my
things and headed to my room with Leo. After a long shower, I left my chest unwrapped. The wrap was
putting more and more pressure on my chest. I tried to leave it unwrapped if I could these days.
"Sawyer said that if there's room on the bus, you can come along," I said to Leo as I came out of the
bathroom. Leo was sitting on the couch with a book in his hand. He glanced as me before setting his
book aside.
"I know," he replied as I sat next to him. "I've gone to a few meets before. I'll ask for a weekend pass
and tag along. Then I'll get a separate hotel room like we did last time. It'll be safer that way. Plus, I've
noticed that you try to keep the binding off if you can help it lately. Is it giving you problems?" He asked.
Leo was very observant. I didn't think he would've noticed. I nodded quietly.
"It's not a big deal, I've just been trying to keep the pressure off of my chest," I tried to brush it off. Leo
looked like he didn't believe me. Nôvel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.
"We should go to bed soon," Leo changed the subject anyway. Thankfully, he dropped it for now.
