Chapter 42 Father and Son’s First Conversation
The nanny saw Amanda packing up when she brought the boy back to Lotus Waterfront.
“Are you going on a business trip. Miss Bailey?”
The nanny thought Amanda was going on a business trip as Amanda was packing a lot of clothes.
Amanda stopped what she was doing and stood up upon hearing that. “No, Mrs. Colette. We are moving tonight. Please help me pack up. Just a few pieces of clothing will do. The place we will be moving to has everything.”
At least, that was what Simon told her. The villa in Galaxy Bay had everything that Amanda would ever need, and she could move in any time she wanted.
“Oh, okay.” Colette nodded.
Right then. Aiden ran over and grabbed Amanda’s hand. He was eager to tell her what had happened at school today.
“Mommy! Mommy! Let me tell you something! There was a strange woman at school who called your name today.”
“What do you mean?”
Suddenly feeling anxious, Amanda sat down on the couch with her son. She wanted to ask him. for all the details.
“There was this strange woman who called your name. She’s an evil woman! She even pulled my
hair.”
“Huh? Did it hurt? How can anyone do something like that?”
Amanda worriedly touched her son’s small head and checked if he was injured.
No matter how precocious Aiden was, he was just a three-year-old child, after all. He couldn’t speak clearly with his limited ability to express himself with words.
“It doesn’t hurt now.” He shook his head bravely.
Amanda felt as resigned as she was heartbroken. Is this new kindergarten the wrong choice after all? How did something like this happen? I’ll have to look for a new kindergarten again. But who is this strange woman Aiden’s talking about? she wondered. Just who is it?
Colette had finished packing up by then.
“I’m done packing up. Miss Bailey. Would you like to check if there is anything else you want to bring to the new place?”
“That’s all. Please bring Aiden to the parking lot first and wait for me in the car, Mrs. Colette.”
“Alright.”
And so, Colette left for the parking lot with the child in her arms.
Amanda also started to leave with the luggage when she received a call from Simon.
After she picked up the call, she informed him, “I’m done packing, Simon. We’re leaving now. We’ll be there in about an hour.”
“Should I go pick you up? I’m heading to Galaxy Bay now as well.”
“There’s no need. You can just wait for me there. I’ll be there soon.”
She then hung up and left with the luggage in tow.
Elias had just finished a meeting with the high-level executives at Winters Enterprise. When he finally got off work, he came to the outside of the company where the car was parked.
He wore a suit and leather shoes as he walked out of the lobby. Just as he was about to get in the car, a middle-aged man ran over and stopped him.
“Elias! It’s me, your father-in-law. You can’t just ignore me when I’m in trouble!”
Dick appeared out of nowhere and grabbed Elias by the arm.
Seeing this, the bodyguard immediately stepped forward and dragged him away.
Elias’ disgust was written all over his handsome face as he frowned at his father-in-law. Not wanting to deal with the older man, he started to get into the car.
To his surprise, Dick wailed out loud. “My son-in-law! You have to help me for Amanda’s sake. You saved her and got the money back. Those people are coming after me again. What am I supposed to do? I don’t have the money to pay them back. If you don’t help me, I’ll have to go back to Amanda…”
Elias couldn’t help but laugh from the anger that washed over him. As he turned around and saw that shameless look on Dick’s face, he warned, “Are you using Amanda to threaten me? Did she not tell you that she and I are already divorced? Since we are divorced, my helping her is a matter of goodwill. It’s my duty even if I don’t help her. You going to her has nothing to do with me.”
With that, Elias got in his car and left without looking back.
He was already angry in the first place, and Dick had to threaten him with Amanda now of all times.
Just thinking of Amanda filled him with rage. No matter how many people he involved to save
her, the only person she cared about was Simon.
Sitting in the car. Elias suddenly felt worried as he looked at his spineless ‘father-in-law’ from the rearview mirror.
If this scum really goes after Amanda… Out of moral obligation, I should probably warn her. It won’t be easy to get her useless father off her back once he latches onto her.
At the thought of that, Elias took out his phone and looked up Amanda’s number.
He hesitated for a long time before deciding to press the number.
What he didn’t know was that Amanda and Simon were together right now, and his own son, Aiden, was secretly on Amanda’s phone.
The villas of Galaxy Bay
After Amanda arrived at the villa, Simon took her and Aiden inside and began to cook dinner for them.
“Baby, play with the phone here, and don’t run around. Mr. Simon and I will be cooking. We can have dinner soon.”
–
Amanda wanted to put her luggage away and go to the kitchen to help. She didn’t feel right just waiting for the food to be served. After all, Simon was like her landlord now.
“Okay!”
Aiden held the phone tightly in his chubby hands and fiddled around intently.
Usually, Amanda only allowed him to play for about half an hour, for fear he would become short- sighted at such a young age.
Looking at her baby being so engrossed in her phone, she shook her head helplessly and walked. to the kitchen.
She was surprised by how good Simon’s cooking skills were when she entered the kitchen.
As she watched the man elegantly and skillfully prepare a fish, he turned around and immediately noticed her.
“Are you hungry? Dinner will be ready soon,” he announced.
“Let me help you with it.”
Amanda then walked over to the kitchen countertop and washed the remaining vegetables. “I didn’t expect you to be such a good cook. I thought…”
“That instant noodle is the only thing I can cook?” He chuckled.
Amanda had no comeback. Truth was, she did think that when Simon said he was going to cook dinner for her and her son.
After all, Simon was a busy man who managed a big law firm. Amanda didn’t think he would have time to learn to cook. What an outstanding man, she thought.
At this moment, Aiden was lying on the couch, playing games on Amanda’s phone when a phone call came in. However, he didn’t know who was calling since he couldn’t read well yet.
He went ahead and answered the call. “Hello?” he greeted in a childish voice. “Who are you looking for?”
Elias, who was on the other end of the call, remained quiet for a long minute before asking in return. “Who are you?”
“Why do you care? Just tell me who you are looking for.”
Elias asked again. “Are you Simon Nicholson’s son?” © NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
“Are you looking for him? He doesn’t have time to answer your call. He and Mommy are cooking dinner for me. Bye-bye.”
Aiden hung up the phone right after saying that and went back to playing his game, not letting anyone disturb him.
Meanwhile, Elias was on the verge of losing his temper. Little did he know that the little brat who took the call was his son.
He even almost crushed the phone in his hand!
Mommy? The boy is calling her Mommy? It seems that she has successfully filled in the stepmother’s position. I must have been crazy to worry about her safety! Why should I care about her when she already has Simon? Fine! She sure is determined to be the stepmother of Simon’s child, huh? That heartless woman… I hope she doesn’t regret her decision!
