CHAPTER 11
She shouted at the man who insisted on eating with her but couldn't wait for her meal to be finished. Every minute, he tried her patience, and she could feel her anger boiling up inside her. However, he must have probably noticed the way she glared at him.
"Your fury is vicious, Dani, but we need to discuss... about our predicament." His tone was grim, as was his expression. This morning, he had been considering how to be candid with the woman about his current situation, and how to get their marriage dissolved as soon as possible.
"If you have been previously married, Marcus, we will not have an issue. If you're concerned about the annulment expense, I'll cover it," she offered to cover any costs associated with their annulment.
"I'm still in love with Veronica, and living with you would be forbidden," he revealed of his first wife.
To be honest, she hadn't anticipated it, even if he was really gorgeous. "What is her name? Veronica?"
"Yes. My first wife is Veronica," he said.
Daniella set the ladle down on the counter and confronted him. "You previously stated that you are not married, but now Veronica is your wife?" She was enraged at his deception! However, she should be relieved that he is married, correct? "Therefore, our marriage must be declared null and invalid! Marcus, if you can find a way out of here, you are free to leave. I may just inform Paloma that you have been taken by an extraterrestrial," she replied, and Marcus chuckled. She was not being amused when she mentioned the extraterrestrial, so how could he have laughed?
"I was previously married. That is, she is no longer alive. It's a lengthy story, but I still love her," he stated to put their differences to rest.
How devoted! However, some individuals are. "I see," she responded.
"I told you about it so you wouldn't suppose I was about to fall in love with you." Marcus feared that the woman might develop affections for him while he was a guest in her home.
What exactly did he say? What makes him think she'd fall in love with him? Amazing! His imagination was quite remarkable and vivid. "Are you sure?" Daniella shook her head, unable to believe what she was hearing.
"I apologize if I offended you, but as you know, some ladies fall quickly, especially when...we are alone." Marcus had no idea why he enjoyed tormenting Daniella until her nostrils flared and her blood began to boil. "You were already smitten with me in Hong Kong, Dani. Thus, it would be only a matter of time until that attraction developed into something more...like love." He continued to annoy her until her eyes were on fire and she slashed him with daggers.
"Correction. Marcus, I was not drawn to you. You just have everything I was seeking for in a man to become the father of my kid," she claimed. To be honest, she was still taken by his looks. It was a foregone conclusion that she would fawn over him based on his eyes alone. She made no notice of his wavy hair, which seemed as though the wind was always messing with it. And his lips - gosh, they were unbelievably kissable, and she wished she could chew on them endlessly.
"You're a liar," he stated. He proceeded to tell her that it was implausible that she was not physically attracted to him. Marcus felt she looked gorgeous as her cheeks grew crimson.
"I hope you're not so impolite as to remind me," she said.
"I am accountable! I'm sorry, but can't we simply be friends? After all, if we work together, we can solve our problem. Are you not of the same opinion, Dani?" If they became friends, he would have an easy time seducing the woman.
Daniella considered it before opening her mouth to respond. "Yeah, why not?" If remaining courteous with him might help her escape the mess she had made, she would give it a go. "We must cooperate, Marcus." She extended her hand to him in exchange for a handshake, which he accepted. Daniella felt something send shivers down her spine as soon as their hands touched, and she promptly withdrew her hand from the handshake.
"Do not tell me you will miss me, Dani." Marcus noticed a gleam of grief in her eyes, but she may have lied about being comfortable with his tearing a section of her house down. That, indeed, must be it! He would, however, appreciate Daniella telling him she will miss his presence in the house, even if it is a lie.
"That is never going to happen, Marcus." She responded defiantly. To be honest, her tone was rather guarded, but she would never forget him.
"I was only stating," Marcus explained.
"Whatever," Daniella said, wishing the guy would stop speaking to her as he washed the dishes; otherwise, she would become accustomed to his voice, which she disliked.
After their agreement to be civil with each other or be friends, they conversed, teased, laughed, and relished each other's presence. Marcus obtained her consent to demolish a portion of her home. She assumed he would flee as soon as he discovered a way out of her house, but he did not. He assured her that he would keep her company until Paloma and the other members of the household returned from their excursion.
"Hello, lovely," he said to Daniella as she approached him.
"Greetings, handsome. What's going on?" She adored his sense of humour; in fact, she adored him in every way. She began to like him throughout their week together, but she couldn't tell him or he would mock her. He had already told her not to fall for him, and she stated categorically that she
would never fall for him. Was a woman's heart always so easily duped? His modest act to care for her was deemed precious and something worth to thank for.
If she could assess her present emotions for Marcus, she could claim that around 80% of her heart no longer belongs to her. Marcus received it for free! Even if the man became the most repulsive person on the planet, she would still choose him. He was nice, attentive, and compassionate. He may appear like a badass but his heart was pure gold and he was a gentleman in every way. There was never a moment when he tried to take advantage of his position as her husband, but lately, she hoped that he would do anything like...insisting on sleep with her. As days slipped by, Daniella fought to disguise her actual feelings for Marcus. She couldn't be impulsive or it would terrify him.
"Where are you going, Dani?" He asked her. Her baby bump was still not evident, and he wanted to see it before he would depart. The other day he phoned Samuel to help him with annulment documents and his pal was more than pleased to aid him. Yesterday, he received the mail that included the paperwork. He was meant to be excited in filling in the papers because it would be the beginning of setting himself free, but he didn't understand why he didn't feel like filling it quite yet.
"I'm going to the garden, handsome." She needed to cut some flowers from the garden to be utilized in all of the flower vases within the home. Her late mother had ingrained in her head that a house should have fresh flowers every day.
"Can I go with you?" He asked.
Daniella's thinking stopped as he said about coming with her to the garden, and her heart skipped a beat when Marcus smiled at her. "Why not?" She agreed. Her heartbeat was excessively loud and she usually ascribed it to her erratic emotional swings rather than accepting her feelings towards Marcus.
"I didn't know that you're like gardening," he chatted to her as they headed towards...
A greenhouse? He was perplexed but elected to keep his mouth quiet. Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
"It was my mum who enjoyed gardening. When she died, it would be a waste if her garden will be neglected," she said.
"What's inside the greenhouse, Dani? Vegetables?" Marcus couldn't help himself from asking.
Everyone who saw their greenhouse concluded that they cultivated vegetables inside, but alas, they were mistaken. Inside the greenhouse was a variety of different types of flowers, many were imported varieties notably the roses and orchids.
"Just wait till you go inside, Marcus." Then, she opened the doorway towards the greenhouse and she heard how the man gasped as he saw the beautiful flowers.
Marcus hadn't seen something like that before! The flowers were extremely beautiful...just like Daniella. "Amazing! So you are coming to cut some of the flowers?" What else might be done within a greenhouse full of flowers? He pondered.
"Yeah," she answered to his query.
Marcus took in the wonderful vista of the flower garden. He may state that it was his first time to witness an assortment colors of roses and he was only familiar with red and white roses, like the ones sold in a flower store. He recently learnt that there were a lot more like cream, lavender, peach, orange, pink, salmon pink, and yellow. "I'm speechless!" He said.
"I know. Everyone who has set foot inside told me the same thing," she informed him.
Marcus frowned at Daniella as she remarked about everyone stepping foot inside the greenhouse. Was there another man with him who was inside the greenhouse? "I thought this location is special, then why do you permit just anybody to enter inside?" He questioned her in an irritated tone.
