The Billionaire's Regret

Chapter 104

Chapter 104

The situation changed in that moment of confrontation. Despite the storm that was brewing, the sea appeared to be unusually calm. It seemed to portend the tense situation that was about to unfold. The cold and heavy atmosphere was extremely tense and dangerous in the dead silence of the stand-off as if it would ignite at the slightest spark. These were well-trained pirates who would kill without hesitation. Ivy was merely a survivor who had become stranded here. She did not, however, show any fear, and her hands did not tremble as she held the gun. She pointed the gun at the pirate she was stepping on, making sure he didn't try to fight back! With a firm and composed gaze, she raised her eyes to the dozens of guns aimed at herself. When he saw this scene, Vince's face turned a pale shade of white. His legs couldn't help but go limp as he slumped to the ground involuntarily. Ivy cast a glance at him and whispered in a voice that the pirates couldn't understand. "Don't be afraid. Stand behind me. Turn around and run as soon as you hear the gunshot, and don't look back." They were right behind the jungle. They'd have a better chance of getting away there! Vince became paralyzed. He was an adventurer. What dangers had he never faced? He had overcome the innumerable challenges posed by nature, such as a lack of food, water, and fire. He'd seen it all before: being attacked by indigenous people, falling off a cliff, and being robbed at sea by pirates. However, he was terrified right now. He shivered in terror. It was a suffocating sense of impending death that caused his scalp to numb and his feet to become cold. Humans have always been terrified and powerless in the face of death! Such a scene would be impossible to film, even in Hollywood. But what did this dainty and melodramatic lady say? 'Don't be afraid. Stand behind her. Don't you ever look back?'

Vince clenched his teeth and stiffened up, gradually suppressing the panic in his eyes. How could he have allowed a woman to stand in front of him? "I'm not going to run. I told you I'd protect you!" Even though he said it casually at the time, he remembered that promise. Ivy wanted him to flee so that at least one of them could survive. However, before she could say anything, the pirate on the other side barked an order. "Cut the nonsense and shoot!" Ivy's face changed dramatically as she cursed silently in her heart. This man at her feet must not be a significant figure. Otherwise, the pirates would not be so unconcerned about his safety. She could sense the steadfast murderous intent in the movements of those pirates opposite them for a split second. She became aware of something in her peripheral vision. A few dozen meters to their left were a rock that would serve as a good hiding spot. With the gun in her hands, she wouldn't have many bullets once the fight started. Ivy's chances of winning were slim to none because the opposing team had a large number of people. How long could they hold out? She was bound to lose either way! “Wait, let's negotiate," Ivy said after taking a deep breath. The pirate in front of her was bloodthirsty and enraged. He didn't appear to be in the mood for bargaining at all. The chill in the air was both eerie and terrifying. "State your terms," Ivy continued, “I landed here by accident and did not come here on my own will. Let us go because we don't have any conflicts of interest. Simply state your price. The man scoffed at Ivy, his fierce face grim and angry. “State a price? How much do you believe you are worth?" Ivy was about to say something when the man who had been pinned to the ground stood up. He was able to break free and fight back, swinging his fists at Ivy. She was forced to take two steps back and took advantage of the opportunity to kick Vince behind the reef on the other side.

"Stop the nonsense! How can a woman belittle me? Get up and shoot!" The pirate request was slightly shorter and thinner. Ivy reacted at the same time as the shots were fired. She quickly ducked and hid behind some rocks. Countless bullets rained down on her, the sound piercing the heavens! Bullets shattered on the rocks, and bullet fragments whizzed past her ears. Her blood pressure increased, but her body became cold and her scalp became numb. Among the hail of bullets, Ivy had a flashback to a terrorist attack on the streets of Europe four years ago. Terrorists detonated bombs in the initially peaceful and romantic streets. They had attacked numerous civilians, and Ivy had rushed out of the safe room to save a three- year-old child whose parents had been killed on the scene. The bomb detonated next to her. She couldn’t run away, no matter how fast she was. The blast hurled Ivy and the child into the air, and they were about to be reduced to cannon fodder. A tall and powerful man was shielding her body the next thing she knew. That was Ivy’s first encounter with Wyatt Reed. She owed him her life from then on. He was dressed in military uniform, and his back was bloodstained, but his expression was steely and calm. When he saw that Ivy and the child were safe, he dashed off to save the next person and assisted the local police in apprehending many of the fleeing terrorists. Terrorists decided to target Wyatt Reed as a result of those attacks. Revenge arrived far too quickly. She met him for the second time in an underground fight club. A swarm of fighters surrounded Wyatt. He was covered in blood and had numerous wounds, and he appeared to be nearing the end of his consciousness. As soon as he stood up, he was brutally attacked and knocked to the ground. They were out to get him! The audience yelled foul, but no one objected. Someone laughed maniacally in the darkness. “Look at this arrogant soldier. Do you consider yourself a hero? You’re just a conceited jerk!” Content rights by NôvelDr//ama.Org.

“What a show! If you can, keep fighting...” “Well, we’ll let you go as long as someone takes you out, or you can walk out alive...” They were confident that no one would dare to interfere. Ivy, on the other hand, heard it. No one bothered to look at a woman in the darkness. She rushed up without hesitation and attacked the boxer’s crotch as quickly as she could. They screamed pitifully, and everything changed in an instant. Ivy lifted Wyatt onto her shoulders and led him away, step by step, under the watchful eyes of the crowd. The light from outside penetrated and pierced through the darkness as the large door in front of them opened. Wyatt had already passed out when Ivy handed him over to his companions. She finally paid off her debt to him this time. Ivy’s vision became hazy. She had no idea why she had thought of Wyatt at this critical juncture in her life. He’d probably never know they’d met before they got married. She fell in love with him much sooner than he expected. Bullets whizzed around, the cold sea breeze howled, and the situation was irreversible. Every second was fraught with peril. Vince saw her staring off into space and yelled at her. “Ivy, go hide!” The sound of gunfire was deafening. The drawn-out victory felt more like torture as if every second of her life was worse than death! Ivy closed her eyes and exhaled deeply. Then she abruptly raised the gun in her hand. So much for it! Even if she had to die, she would do so fighting. She abruptly turned around, striding out from beneath the reef, and moved to find a good vantage point. Then she fired without hesitation. Ivy was certain that the shot she had just fired had struck one of the men in the shoulder. She was distinct from the others. She would not kill anyone because she was modest and self-assured.

After all, she had learned how to shoot professionally. Ivy’s counterattack enraged the pirates even more, resulting in an even more intense barrage. Bullets pierced her side as quickly as rain. She didn’t dare to use up all of her bullets at once. She calculated how long she would be able to hold out. One minute... Or maybe two minutes? Her life was about to come to an end... Vince cursed at them, getting more into it as he screamed, taking some of the strings out of her. Ivy gave him a pale smile and fired without hesitation! A piercing scream accompanied it! The second shot struck the leg of a pirate about to jump over. Their rage was directed with a vengeance. They were strewn about the area, shooting from every angle. There was no escape. Ivy was well aware that what lay ahead for them was unavoidable death! Vince stopped cursing and turned to praise her. “You’re fantastic, Ivy. Your talent and abilities outweighed your beauty.” He didn’t forget to suck up to her even when he was on the verge of death. Ivy only smiled back, a bleak and miserable smile. “No, I still rely primarily on my beauty.” As Ivy pulled the trigger for the third time, she could hear only a soft click.
