The Billionaire's Regret

Chapter 116

Chapter 116

Ivy raised an eyebrow as Vince stepped out of the car, his face contorted as if he were accepting a death sentence with open arms. Vince walked over to Wyatt’s low-profile, high-end Cayenne, which he was driving today. The collision resulted in significant property damage. On the contrary, his Jeep Grand Cherokee was completely unharmed. On the other hand, Vince had no idea how they had collided in the first place. Vince did appear to be the guilty party in this scenario. Usually, this type of dispute could be resolved through the exchange of money, but given the other party’s identity as Wyatt Reed, this would not be easy. Wyatt’s dark eyes glowed as he locked his gaze on Vince. “Should we proceed with the proceedings or settle this privately?” he asked, his voice chilling. Vince pressed his lips together. Do I have a choice at all? “P-Proceedings.” Wyatt’s gaze was vacant as he extracted his phone. “At that point, I’ll locate your father.” Vince’s face tensed. Wyatt was quickly brought to a halt by him. “Don’t! Let’s settle this privately, Uncle Wyatt!” Wyatt stowed his phone and handed Vince his keys. “Go immediately and have it repaired.” “Now?” Vince held the keys and was unsure whether to leave or remain. Ivy remained in his car, waiting to go to the movies later that night. Wyatt’s face grew colder as he observed Vince’s hesitation. “Are you still not departing?” Vince dared not postpone. ‘I’m sure I’ll make amends with Ivy later!’ he reasoned. Ivy was baffled by this scene. ‘How come Vince is sprinting to Wyatt’s car?’ Wyatt straightened his shirt and sat in the driver’s seat next to Ivy at this point. “Mr. Reed, did you get into the wrong car?” Ivy inquired coldly. Wyatt’s face was light and had effectively concealed his earlier anger.

His eyes had a hint of tenderness at the corners. Additionally, his voice was magnetic, mellow, and alluring. “No, he insisted on repairing my car and requested my company. Are you sure you didn’t want to go to the cinema?” Wyatt then started the car and drove towards the largest movie theater as if nothing had happened between them. They had never gone to the movies together or done anything else that couples usually do. Wyatt felt as if his heart was being squeezed and unconsciously felt suffocated at that thought. Ivy came to a halt and examined him as if he were a stranger. “What are you saying, Mr. Reed? Have you ever seen a divorced couple out on a date?” ‘This is absurd!’ Ivy considered. Wyatt’s face became immobile for a brief moment. His smile reverted to a peaceful and natural state immediately. “What’s the problem with that? Couples who have been divorced may remarry.” He was sizing up the situation but made this proposition infallible. Ivy regarded him silently. Her eyes were emotionless. Inside the car, the temperature gradually decreased. Wyatt did not turn his head, but he had already felt Ivy’s cold, detached gaze. This was the first time he had voluntarily sat on pins and needles in front of a woman. He couldn’t help but laugh inwardly at himself for inflicting all this misery on himself. “Stop the car.” Ivy’s voice was as cold as ice. Wyatt’s jaw was clenched. His tone remained gentle. “We are not yet there.” Ivy gave him a long look, then unbuckled her seatbelt and opened the car door without hesitation. Wyatt’s face darkened instantly as the cold wind blew in. Wyatt slammed on the brakes abruptly. Simultaneously, he drew Ivy, whose body was already halfway out the door. While he was stunned, the bitterness in the pit of his heart intensified. His heart’s sense of helplessness pulsed through every vein and gradually spread throughout his entire body. All he felt was helplessness and weakness. Even his grip on her trembled slightly. jump out of the car and risk her life than stay with him. Wyatt was no longer able to maintain his gentle demeanor. His eyes, which were darker than the night, flashed with agonizing remorse. “Ivy…” His voice was low and raspy, and he exuded extreme humility. Ivy was not permitted to exit the car. She simply sat and gave Wyatt a sidelong glance. Her gaze was as icy as the night air. ‘Remarry him?! No way!’ Ivy was not amused by Wyatt’s proposal, even if it was made in jest. Wyatt’s eyes were dark and deep, merging with the darkness. “How come you told me it wasn’t you? Clearly, the woman in the photograph is you.” ‘Why are you refusing to admit it? Why are you refusing to acknowledge that you rescued me?’ Wyatt thought. Wyatt felt indescribably relaxed and vaguely happy the moment he confirmed it was Ivy. Ivy chuckled. “Even so, what if it is me? What are your plans for this information?” She had him perplexed. 'Yes, what am I to do?' Wyatt’s expression was clearly frozen at that moment. His lips were pressed into a straight line at the corners. Wyatt, who had always been composed and steady, appeared to be collapsing. Ivy’s lips curved into a faint smile. “Mr. Reed, can’t you see that I’m lying to you because I don’t want to have anything to do with you anymore?” her red lips parted slightly. “That is all in the past, and I am not one to look back. Apart from remarriage, I’ve never reconciled with friends with whom I’ve lost contact. Simply put, Mr. Reed, move on. We no longer have any ties to one another and thus can marry whomever we please. I’m certain that regardless of who you’re with in the future, I’ll prepare a generous gift to congratulate you.” She was clearly smiling, but the words that came out of her mouth pricked Wyatt’s heart like sharp nails. He was in so much pain that he was unable to speak. ‘Was it all a dream? I had no knowledge of these, yet she simply drew a line and classified them as a clear-cut past?’

Ivy stated her case and desired to exit the car without looking at him. Wyatt’s voice was clear and cold, but he spoke behind her with a hint of affection. “Ivy, I averted your death. Do you wish to deny this?” Ivy became immobile in an instant. Her hand was propped up against the door as she returned her gaze to him. Wyatt’s faint smile appeared to be tinged with bitterness. “All right, I’m not going to bring up remarriage again, but there’s no reason for you to avoid me like the plague, is there? You said that everything is in the past. So why can’t we just be friends?” Ivy cast a knitted brow at him. Wyatt was able to capture her subtle change in expression in an instant. He maintained a gentle and candid smile while concealing the emotions in his eyes. Ivy’s lips twitched. Without Wyatt’s intervention, she would have simply opened the door and left. ‘What game is Wyatt Reed attempting to play here?’ Ivy deemed. Wyatt shifted his gaze away. He gently tapped the steering wheel with his long, sculpted fingers. “Since I’ve averted your death, how about we watch a movie I invested in that just premiered today? As friends.” He clenched his teeth as he said the final two words. Ivy examined Wyatt’s expression closely. She was willing to coexist peacefully with him as long as he avoided making stupid statements about feelings or remarriage. “Fine.” She re-entered the car. Her eyes were fixed on the horizon, and she pretended to be generous and forgiving. When they arrived at the cinema, Ivy, who was dressed in a formal gown, immediately drew a crowd. She was stunning and captivating as if she were a movie star at a premiere. Soon, a suit jacket was draped over her body, obstructing the crowd’s burning gaze. “Do not remove it unless you wish to reappear in tomorrow’s tabloid headlines.” Ivy appeared to be too prominent and would be recognized sooner or later; perhaps this jacket would help her appear more demure.

Ivy’s outstretched hand withdrew in response to this. She arched her brow. “Then let us proceed to purchase a ticket. Which film, Mr. Reed, did you invest in?” Ivy swept a glance across the room. ‘Today’s movies are all remakes. This liar!’ Wyatt swept his gaze across the room and stated simply, “I invested in all of these.” Ivy was rendered speechless.
