Chapter 123
Chapter 123
Wyatt’s voice was harsh, cold, and resonant with suppressed rage. “What is happening?” Ken’s hands trembled with fear. He was barely able to maintain a polite smile on his face. “Ms. Morgan is the one who gave him the money.” Wyatt’s office became deafeningly silent. They were surrounded by a dense, oppressive chill in the air. Ken was afraid to inhale freely. Although he was accustomed to this type of atmosphere, each time he encountered it, his entire body shivered. Ken braced himself and gritted his teeth to speak in the face of Wyatt’s bone-chilling gaze. “Even though we cut off Sir Vince’s funding source, he accepted the money Ms. Morgan gave him and resumed cooperation with a number of his partners. Sir Vince’s studio, I’m afraid, will not go bankrupt for the time being.” Wyatt remained silent for a brief moment before sneering. “Does he really have the audacity to grab from a woman?” ‘Of course!’ Ken hung his head. ‘After all, it is a $100 million transaction.’ Wyatt would probably kill someone in a fit of rage if he discovered the true source of this $100 million was himself. Wyatt picked up the papers on his desk and cast a casual glance at Ken. “I never want to see such news in the future.” “Yes, sir,” Ken responded immediately. “I will make the necessary arrangements.” Blaze of Glamour Entertainment called a few days later. “President Ivy, Flint is about to have a film premiere. He’s in desperate need of heat, so may we ride your wave?” Blaze was direct. In show business, it was quite common to pair co-stars to increase anticipation for a film or television series. Although Flint had numerous co-stars, he had never been involved in a scandal that jeopardized his image or persona. His only scandal was with Ivy. Previously, the Ivy and Flint scandal generated such a large amount of hype that it dominated trending topics for a time, attracting a large number of followers.
With Flint now endorsing Morgan Corporation’s high-end luxury accessories, if Flint’s new film becomes popular, it would be a win-win situation for Morgan Corporation and Glamour Entertainment. Naturally, Ivy would not turn down such an excellent opportunity to earn money. She agreed without hesitation. “Certainly! He is welcome to ride my wave.” After all, a disciplined and motivated young hunk like Flint made it difficult for others to dislike him. Thus, Ivy was arranged to attend an awards ceremony two days later. This was a show business occasion. Ivy had no desire to compete against a slew of female celebrities. She was merely a prop. As a result, she refused to wear any of the latest haute couture gowns from major designers. Rather than that, she chose a simple and elegant black dress from Ulyana Sergeenko’s latest collection. The gown was quite elegant, with a waist belt lined with tiny pearls. It gave her an air of vitality and delicacy. Ivy wore very light makeup. Her face was delicate, bright, and lovely, with an infectious charm. With her innately bold disposition, her kind of beauty was unavoidable, and she quickly became the center of attention. She took a seat in the front row’s center. Ivy was bored due to the lack of arrivals and lowered her head to scroll through her phone. Those in the back were unable to see her face. The few actresses in the wings who were not required to go on stage noticed an unfamiliar woman in such an important position and whispered to one another. “Who is that lady? How is she able to take a prominent position? Is she so desperate to go viral?” “Yes, how did the staff assign the seats? That is a VIP seat; how can a commoner sit there?” Ivy overheard everything, even if they did not intend for her to. ‘How annoying,’ Ivy thought. On one side, the staff heard this and desperately attempted to convince the gossiping actresses to remain silent. Regrettably, the two insignificant actresses were too absorbed in their worlds to notice.
Ivy was never one to hold her tongue. She put down her phone, stood, and turned around, her gaze clear and cold. “I’m the event’s sponsor,” she said with a hint of indifference in her lazy voice. “If you have any concerns about the seating arrangement, you may complain.” In any case, the complaint would be directed to Blaze. Ivy was quite intrigued to see how these two D-listers would fare in showbiz. When the two starlets recognized Ivy, they were taken aback. Their faces froze for a brief moment when they heard her words. Their heavily powdered faces became even paler in the light. They leaped to their feet in panic from several rows away. Their voices were trembling. “No, no... That was not our intention. We simply missed the fact that it was you, Ms. Morgan.” Ivy rolled her eyes in her heart, sat back down, and turned around. She intended to swap seats with someone else, but given how many, this stupid center seat could trigger lowly people. She was no longer in the mood to move. These two actresses intended to apologize to Ivy personally, but they were apprehended before they could reach the front. “If you do not return to your original seats, you will be asked to leave.” Ken intervened. He was well- behaved and circumspect. Ivy noticed, out of the corner of her eye, that the light had dimmed on her right side, where someone had sat. Additionally, there was a faint cold scent. She raised her eyes subconsciously and immediately frowned upon seeing Wyatt Reed. “What brings you here?” Her tone was brimming with unfathomable disgust. Wyatt’s heart sank, but his expressionless face remained. “I am also a sponsor.” His voice was unassuming and gentle, which drew others in subconsciously. Ivy was irritated by the words he spoke. “Hmph!” Ivy sulked and turned away from him as if he were invisible. Flint entered from the other side at this point and sat. He had been assigned to this seat because
he was the most popular celebrity at the time. His clean-cut and handsome face glowed with a light smile as he walked unflinchingly through countless spotlights. His gaze was gentle and pure, free from vulgar desires. “Mr. Reed, Ms. Morgan.” Wyatt gave Flint little attention, but Ivy smiled and greeted him. “Come over and take a seat. Today is quite cold, so it must have been quite chilly walking the red carpet.” Flint chuckled and took a seat beside her. “It isn’t that bad.” Ivy leaned over to Flint and began discussing the film’s plot with her phone’s stills of Flint that she had just seen online. She paid no attention to the cold man to her right or to the fact that the surrounding air pressure appeared to drop. It was still relatively warm before this. The hall became increasingly crowded. The awards presentation was about to begin. “Ivy…” On her right, a man spoke abruptly as he reached out to tap the armrest. Ivy shifted her gaze to him. Wyatt’s dark, intense gaze was fixed on her. Inside, the emotions were complex and restrained. Ivy was on the verge of deciphering them when Wyatt’s eyes went completely black. His thin lips were slightly parted. “You look lovely today.” The ambient noises seemed to vanish in an instant. This was a very common phrase, but when Wyatt used this on Ivy, the atmosphere suddenly became weird. The crowd gathered around Ivy to see her reaction: Ivy slightly curled her red lips. “It appears that you are not blind after all, Mr. Reed.”This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.
