Chapter 129
Chapter 129
Ivy trembled. She snapped back to reality in an instant. She stared at the dark seawater and felt a cold, suffocating sensation engulf her, making it difficult for her to breathe. Those memories appeared to be too painful. Ivy wasn’t sure if it was the seawater or something else. Her face was pale and miserable as she gasped for air. The sea was calm, and the waves had vanished. Ivy was extremely worried. She looked around and noticed that the nearest sailboat was several hundred meters away. She wasn’t sure if they’d be able to arrive on time. She dashed to the side of the speedboat and yelled at the small boat off in the distance. “Help! Quickly save him! Please help him! He’s going to drown.” Brad had been underwater for more than five minutes. Ivy’s voice was hoarse, but no one moved on the opposite side of the boat, as if no one was there. Her eyes were bright red. She couldn’t help but hunch down as tears streamed down her cheeks. ‘He’ll die, just like I was about to die back then.’ The minutes ticked by. Ivy’s panic increased. Her palms were drenched in a cold sweat. Would he be eaten by sharks even if he didn’t drown? She didn’t even have a phone to call anyone, but she remembered the speedboat’s alarm. Ivy pressed her lips together. Her face was filled with anguish. For a while, she struggled to get up. She then proceeded to the controls, where she discovered the alarm button. She wanted to press down on it without hesitation, but there was a big splash by the boat. Brad emerged. Ivy dashed over to observe Brad, who was wearing a wetsuit, struggling to drag a large box onto the speedboat. It appeared to be quite heavy. She quickly went over to assist. This box was indeed hefty. It’s no surprise that a buff guy like Brad struggled to take it up. Brad finally made it to the top, exhausted, and collapsed on the deck, gasping for air. He sighed as
he removed his dive mask. “This is a weight for two people, Ms. Morgan. You need to go back and learn to swim.” Ivy’s eyes were tinged with red. She kept nodding her head. Her voice had become slightly hoarse. “Are you alright?” Brad coughed and paused to catch his breath. “Yeah. I work as a professional explorer. Wouldn’t it be ridiculous if I drowned?” “But the ones who drown are usually the ones who can swim,” Ivy muttered, pursing her lips. Brad gave her a strange look when he noticed her red eyes and slightly off-key voice. Brad couldn’t hear anything and had no idea what was going on above water while diving. On the other hand, Ivy bowed her head to hide her emotions and handed him a towel and a bottle of water. They opened the box after a brief rest. It was a set of parasailing sails. “Have you ever played?” Brad inquired. Ivy shook her head in disbelief. Brad cracked a grin. “It’s simple. I’ll show you how.” Ivy nodded. Brad took out the parasail and tied it to the speedboat’s rope with a dead knot because they had to complete the challenge together, and she could endure anything. The other end was securely fastened to his and Ivy’s bodies. Ivy had done parachuting before and assumed it would be similar, so she wasn’t too concerned. She was actually looking forward to it. Brad activated the speedboat’s autopilot. The speedboat accelerated and took off into the sea... Ivy felt her body being pulled back in an instant. She lost all control, and her face turned pale in an instant. Her body was suspended at least 60 meters above sea level before she could react. Ivy yelled angrily at the top of her lungs. Her voice quickly became lost in the salty sea breeze. Her heart felt like it was about to leap out of her chest. They were moving at breakneck speed. The parasail rope was tense as it kept Ivy and Brad aloft inPublished by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
the air. They skated through the cold sea wind, following the boat’s speed. The wind scraped against their faces, which was painful but also... amazing! Ivy had never felt this way before. She felt like life was so small and fragile right now but also incomparably solid and vigorous. Challenging one’s limits proved to be highly addictive! Brad regained his balance and went over to pull Ivy’s shoulders back into place, correcting her position and direction. Ivy panted profusely. Her eyes were filled with astonishment. “This is incredible!” Brad laughed, but he didn’t forget about their mission. He indicated a group of small sailboats not far away. Ivy looked down at the sailboats and carefully identified the letters. “ATV.” Ivy cast a curse. ‘What the hell happened?! What does ATV have to do with any of this?! Is it possible that this TV station purchased the rights to this variety show?’ Brad was also taken aback, but at least they knew the answer. They quickly made their way back to the speedboat. Ivy’s heart was still racing, but they began to return because they already knew the answer. The online comments were exploding once more. Oh no, Ivy is so worried that she cries! Ivy appears to be very concerned; watching her like that makes me want to cry! It’s unfortunate that Brad is unaware of it. He should go back and watch the replay! Vince and Flint finally arrived with Mirasol after a long wait at the meet-up point. Flint was glumly next to them, supporting Mirasol as she limped along Vince’s face. He strode forward, his displeasure visible on his face. The side staff was also careful not to say too much. Ivy raised an eyebrow and gave them an odd look. After all, Vince was rarely angry with others. The director, who had been waiting for a long time, was holding a loudspeaker, announcing the summary before the ending, and Ivy and the others stood up
and applauded. They were also wise not to question Vince about what had occurred. Everyone got into their cars and drove separately to ATV for the final interview. They were more at ease because there was no live broadcast in the car. Demi had coffee and snacks ready for Ivy in the car. The car door was opened from the outside before Ivy could take a sip. Vince jumped in, grabbed Demi’s coffee, and chugged it all at once. Ivy pressed her lips together. “I didn’t expect you to return so much later than the rest of us.” Vince’s cheeks were flushed with rage. “Why did I choose Mirasol to be a part of this program?! She lacks common sense and even drags us down with her! Do you know Flint and I had to carry her up and down the mountain?! I even discovered that her limping leg isn’t the same one she had before! She pretended the whole time!” Ivy couldn’t stop herself from laughing. She had no idea what was going to happen. Vince clenched his teeth in rage and devoured all of the snacks Demi had prepared for Ivy. Ivy didn’t appear to mind. She even boasted about him. Fortunately, she was astute enough to replace Mirasol with Brad in the show's second half.
