Goodbye, love
“I’m just a woman who warms up your bed. A f**k toy.”
Every word was like a dagger that pierced straight through Jayden’s heart.
He never intended to hurt her, but the consequences of his actions had inadvertently inflicted a wound. Far deeper than he could have imagined.
“I’m sorry.” His deep, hoarse voice rang in the room.
“F**k you and f**k your sorry.” The last thing she wanted to hear was his apology. “Sign the papers and end this once and for all.”
“I won’t sign,” With a swift motion, Jayden tore the papers.
But Nina was relentless. She took out another copy and placed it before him. “I knew you would do this, so I brought multiple copies,”
A sudden wave of panic surged through Jayden. He stood at the same spot and his fingers tightened into a fist. “Don’t force me, Nina,” he warned in a dangerous tone.
Nina could feel the sudden drop in the temperature. Jayden’s expression grew violent, as dark as the night, and for a moment Nina was afraid.
Seeing the fear in her eyes, Jayden softened his tone. “What else do you want, hmm? I’ll give you everything you ask for as long as you don’t leave.”
Even if she asked for his life, he’d give it to her. However, she could not leave him. Not in this lifetime.
Nina’s nails dig into her palms. Her heart hurt so much that it felt like someone was squeezing it tightly. His words might have swayed her in the past. But now, her resolve was unshakable. She closed her eyes and whispered, “Just sign the papers, Jayden.”
“Never.”
Nina opened her eyes and locked them into Jayden’s.
The intensity of their gaze filled with unspoken words. It felt as though there were a thousand words they needed to say to each other, yet the weight of the situation kept them silent.
At that moment, Jayden was going through a turbulent of emotions. He was afraid that he might lose control if Nina continued to be stubborn. He took a step forward, intending to leave the house. But just as he moved, he heard Nina call him from behind.Content rights belong to NôvelDrama.Org.
“Jayden…” The sound of his name on her lips held a tinge of longing and concern, causing him to hesitate.
Taking a deep breath, he assumed she had finally relented and turned around. But the moment his eyes fell upon her, his face instantly contracted.
Nina stood before him, holding a knife in her hand.
The knife was aimed at him, and a crazy storm seemed to have exploded in his mind. Glancing at the sharp blade in her hands, Jayden’s face distorted as his lips formed an arch. “Even if you kill me today, I won’t let you go.”
The tension in the room was tense, so thick that the entire place was filled with suffocating oppression.
Suddenly, Nina burst into laughter.
Gripping the knife tightly, her eyes took on a wild and frantic look as she slit her palm with the knife. A stream of blood flowed out, staining the carpet an angry red. It happened so suddenly that he did not even get the time to react.
Jayden’s black pupils contracted in shock, and he rushed forward urgently. His eyes turned bloodshot, and his gaze was locked onto her small face, “Are you out of your mind?”
Nina’s amber eyes stared at him with a faint smile, and she took a step back.
There was desperation in her voice as she pleaded, “Jayden, please let me go.”
Cold sweat started to trickle down her forehead as her face alternated between white and red. Her body trembling as if she might faint at any moment.
Jayden’s chest tightened. He wanted to rush forward, but the moment he took a step, Nina held the knife on her neck.
“Sign. the. papers,”
Upon seeing her actions, Jayden felt his heart caught in the throat. And for a moment, he didn’t dare to touch her. He had just witnessed her madness and understood that she would go to any lengths if he pushed her further.
An unfamiliar and overwhelming feeling crept up on him, and he was at a loss for what to do next.
Throughout his life, he had never known what fear was. Yet, at this moment, he couldn’t help but be afraid.
Yes, he was afraid of losing her.
And it was a feeling he had never experienced before. However, he also didn’t want to not sign the papers. Torn and conflicted, his mind raced and he shut his eyes tightly.
Time was ticking for Nina.
After what seemed like an eternity, Jayden finally opened his eyes, and his cold and emotionless voice resounded in the room.
“Alright.”
He reached for the papers and swiftly signed them.
Nina held the papers and examined them to ensure that he had indeed signed. Her face was ashen, and she felt the pain in her wrist as she gripped the papers.
Only after confirming his signature did she sigh in relief and drop the knife from her trembling hand.
Seeing the relief on her face, Jayden’s eyes flashed coldly. His gaze shifted to the bloodied wound, and without wasting another moment, he retrieved the medical kit.
This time, Nina did not push him away.
She understood that in order to leave; she needed to address her wound.
She watched as Jayden approached her and let him treat her wound. Despite the gloominess on his face, his actions were gentle.
A lump formed in Nina’s throat and somewhere she wished time could freeze this moment.
After bandaging her wound, Nina prepared to leave.
However, Jayden’s actions took a sudden turn. He grabbed her arm and pushed her against the wall.
In the next second, he caught her neck.
His bloodshot eyes revealed a bloodthirsty aura, as though he intended to choke her to death.
“Nina Santiago,” Jayden’s voice was chilling, and his grip on her neck tightened. “Don’t think that just because I’ve signed the papers, you can get rid of me. Never. Until I, Jayden Luxton, don’t want you, you can never escape from me.”
The murderous look in his eyes was terrifying as he gritted his teeth, his voice filled with strong resentment. “As long as I’m alive, I’ll make sure you regret your actions today.”
Jayden was known for his calm and indifferent personality, and only a few things could elicit a reaction from him. But for her to provoke such a response from him, showed just how much of an influence she had over him.
Nina choked and struggled desperately to free herself from his grip, but she felt utterly powerless. Tears streamed from her eyes and down her face as she felt her life slowly draining from her body.
The dampness of her tears on the back of his hand only fueled Jayden’s anger.
He was in so much pain that it was becoming unbearable. At that moment, he felt a burning desire to end it all. To kill her and rid himself of the pain.
But he knew he could never bring himself to do that, and he hated himself for being helpless.
In a swift motion, he flung her away mercilessly and strode out of the room.
Jayden’s chest heaved violently as he fought to suppress the demons inside him. He had to distance himself from her before he lost his remaining rationality and did something unforgivable.
Nina felt dizzy after being flung.
She coughed frantically, struggling to regain her composure. Taking deep breaths, she tried to calm herself and wiped away her tears.
It’s alright. Everything’s over now.
With a shaky hand, she reached for the document. Suddenly, her legs gave way, and she slid down the wall before collapsing on the floor.
—
The air inside the living room was sombre.
Jayden sat on the couch expressionlessly. A violent rage stirred within him. The chill radiating from his body was so terrifying that it sent shivers down the spines of the servants.
Amidst this suffocating atmosphere, the sound of wheels resounded in the living room, breaking the silence.
Nina dragged her suitcase along and came to a halt before Ms. Eva. The rim of her eyes turned red, and she pulled her into a hug. “Thank you,”
Thank you for taking care of me and treating me as your child.
“Madam, where are you going?”
“Jayden and I broke up. It’s only right that I leave. When you are free, please come visit me.” Nina smiled, but it seemed like tears threatened to spill beneath that bright smile.
Ms. Eva promptly looked accusingly at the figure on the couch.
She could not fathom what had happened between the couple. Even more so, she could not understand how Jayden allowed her to go.
She wanted to stop Nina, but the latter had already walked towards the door.
Nina couldn’t bring herself to look at Jayden, knowing that if she did, she might not have the heart to leave. After bidding Ms. Eva goodbye, she turned and walked away.
As she passed by Jayden, silent tears trickled down her face.
Goodbye, love. Let’s never see each other again.
Jayden clenched his fist and stood on his spot, watching her walk away. His eyes turned red, and his heart felt as though it had been emptied.
She left.
She had really left.
He watched her retreating figure until it disappeared from his sight, but he didn’t chase after her.
Ms. Eva could not bear the thought of Nina leaving and ran after her. However, before she could catch up to her, she heard Jayden’s cold voice from behind.
“Ms. Eva, don’t forget who your master is.”
His words stopped her in her tracks. Helpless and conflicted, she could only turn around and cast an accusatory glare in his direction.
