Chapter 1418
Jeffrey was completely blindsided by the question, it took him a moment to realize that his wife was dead serious.
He cleared his throat, his tone earnest as he began, "Look, babe, I honestly have no clue what Everett has been up to lately, but I promise you! He would never, ever do anything to hurt Dorothy."
Now, Jeffrey couldn't vouch for everything, but when it came to Everett, there was no room for doubt.
Karen rolled her eyes, "It's just this period I'm worried about!"
"Come on, think about it. How many years did Dorothy leave Everett? Did he ever look at another woman?"
"If Everett couldn't handle a bit of loneliness, how in the world did he wait for Dorothy all those years?" Jeffrey raised his hand, patting Karen on the shoulder, "I know you care about Dorothy, don't want her getting the short end of the stick! But now, with Dorothy by Everett's side, him being her knight in shining armor, even if someone wanted to mess with her, they'd have a hard time!"
Hearing this, Karen did feel a bit more at ease.
But the curiosity was still there.
"So, what's with Everett being all mysterious?"
Jeffrey threw up his hands, swearing honesty, "Honey, you've seen how swamped I've been! Everett's been throwing new tasks at me every day, I barely have time to breathe, let alone chat!"
Lately, he felt like he was practically living at the office!
Back when Everett was busy, it'd be a day or two, tops, and Kevin was around so Jeffrey would only be tied up for a half-day or so.
Now, it's a whole different story...
He was on track to receive the Employee of the Month at Lopez Corporation!
"Can't you find a chance to ask him? He wouldn't keep you in the dark."
"My dear wife, you're pregnant, why worry about someone else's
marriage Jeffrey guided Karen to sit down, grinning, "Your main job now is to take care of our little one, make sure they come into the world healthy and safe!"
"Dorothy's matters are my matters too," Karen said, sighing, "Ever since my brother passed, I've been dreaming about him a lot! In those dreams, he'd be reminding me over and over to take good care of Dorothy for him."
So, her concern for Dorothy also carried the weight of Kenneth Nelson's last wishes!
This was a legacy Kenneth left with his life, and she was determined to honor her brother's wishes.
Mentioning Kenneth made even Jeffrey reflective, "I understand, but you can rest assured, with Everett around, it's out of our hands." Karen pursed her lips, checking her phone.
"It's almost the end of August, another month gone by. Isn't it time for my prenatal appointment?"
"Yeah! August 20th, I've got it on my calendar!"
As she put her phone down, about to speak, something seemed to click, and she grabbed it again. "Jeffrey, do you remember what tattoo Everett has?"Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
"0825, four digits." Jeffrey said without missing a beat, "That's the day he and Dorothy became desk, mates, August 25th! Man, talk about cheesy I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't heard it from Everett himself!"
Tattoos, huh! The kind of guy who was always a model student, going out to get a tattoo! Karen ignored his rambling, simply glancing between Jeffrey and her phone screen. She had a hunch, a suspicion, about what Everett might have been up to recently.
