Chapter Fourteen
Tracy
I was very surprised to see Sam, the last time I saw him was when he left the country to attend a
business school in New York.
I knew I shouldn't be smiling during a business meeting but I couldn't resist it, his smile was contagious.
Sam had a crush on me in school but my brothers never allowed him to express his feelings for me,
they were always chasing him or threatening to beat him up if he comes too close to me, but then that
was in the past, he is probably married now.
I gave him my number and I followed Alex out of the company to get something to eat, luckily there is a NôvelDrama.Org copyrighted © content.
Cafe close to the company that serves breakfast and brunch, I got him croissant and coffee, I watched
him eat unable to look away.
I don't know why I worry about him, I feel really stupid worrying about the man who left me pregnant
and came back to accuse me of infidelity, but then no matter how hard I tried not to, I still worry about
him, I want to tease him like I used to, I want him to hug me like he used to.
He finished eating and we went back to the company, we continued working from where we stopped.
By exactly twelve I got a text from Sam saying I should meet him downstairs so I can take him for
lunch, I was excited that I would be meeting a friend from school for the first time in years.
"I'm going for lunch, try to eat something too," I told Alex standing up to leave
"You are going to meet him, aren't you?" Alex asked dropping his pen
"I don't understand."
"I am not blind Tracy, I saw you two flirting during the meeting."
"Flirting?" I asked genuinely confused
"You know what I'm talking about, I saw you two, smiling and waving at each other."
"And you call that flirting?" I asked getting pissed.
"If it is not then I don't know what it is." He replied folding his arms
"You need to get your head checked."
"Stop talking to me like that and start planning on sticking to one man." He said and something
snapped in me, I'm not sure it's my heart because that was broken a long time ago.
"Mind your business Sir, it's my personal life," I replied then turned to walk away
I don't know how he did it but he was beside me before I could even get to the, he back to face, I was
startled.
"What do you want?" I asked surprised that my voice didn't crack
"I forbid you from seeing that guy."
"And why would I listen to you?"
"We are still married! We are not divorced yet and if people see you with another man and they found
out we are married it won't speak well for me or the company." He replied tightening his hold on me
"How about you get the divorce paper and let's sign it already, let go of me," I yelled pushing him off, I
left as fast as I could, glad he didn't follow me.
I went to the restroom and I did a little bit of crying, it took me minutes to control myself because the
tears won't just stop coming, I don't know why Alex is making it hard on me, I don't know how why he
kept hurting me, he is not making things clear to me and I'm sick and tired of it.
When I was sure I won't burst into tears again, I washed my face, dried it, and repacked my hair, I went
downstairs to find Sam waiting for me in the parking lot.
"Hey, what took you so long?." He asked
"I'm so sorry, I had to take care of few things."
"Oh, that's good then, let's go." He said opening the door for me but I shook my head
"I'm sorry but my lunch break is almost over, can we just have coffee in the cafe outside?" I asked and I
was thankful he agreed.
We got to the cafe and we both ordered coffee
"You look tired," Sam said as we waited for our order.
"Really?"
"Yes, is the stress too much?."
"Not at all."
"Then why do you look so tired, your eyes are a little swollen, Tracy did you cry?" He asked catching
me totally off guard.
"C..cry?, I... I'm not sure I know what you are talking about." I replied refusing to look into his eyes.
"You look like you cried."
"I couldn't sleep last night, that's probably why my eyes look swollen." I lied hoping he won't argue, he
looked at me for few seconds and he nodded
Our order came and we drank our coffee, chit-chatting while doing that.
"So, how is your husband?, Your kids?." He asked
"My kids are fine."
"And your husband?"
"I don't have one, not anymore," I said as tears pooled in my eyes
"Oh, I'm so sorry." He said offering me his handkerchief.
"It's fine," I replied but I took the handkerchief.
"How about you?, How is your family?"
"I've not started one yet."
"Oh really?"
"Yeah well, I'm still crushing on the person I had a crush on in high school and after seeing her today, I
realized my feelings for her are still strong." He said looking straight into my eyes.
My mouth dropped open on its own accord and it refused to close, I couldn't look away from him.
"Tracy." He called and I shook my head.
"I know it is very sudden, don't worry, I won't rush you, but I'm not letting go before I can convince you
that we can start a family together." He said then he concentrated on drinking his coffee like he didn't
say anything at all.
We finished the coffee and he followed me back to the company. I went back to Alex's office tired and
confused, luckily there was no other meeting for the day all he had to do was go through documents,
sign them, and all.
I noticed Alex was trying very hard not to look at me, but then I'm not sure what I'm more worried about,
Sam confessing his feelings or Alex eager to divorce me.
By 4:00 pm I signed out leaving Alex alone in his office, I checked my phone to see a message from
Martin informing me that my car has been fixed, I thanked him and I drove to my parent's place.
We all had dinner and I took the children home immediately after dinner, Sam called and we talked for
a while, by the time I tucked the children in, I was so exhausted that I slept off the moment my head hit
the pillow.
