Chapter 130
Chapter 130
"Cordelia, I'm gonna grab a bite first." Milana gave Cordelia a pat on her shoulder and went off. She
probably didn't want Cordelia to feel awkward.
But the lobby was still crowded with people, all whispering amongst themselves.
"What's a contractual marriage?"
"It's like setting a start and end date for your marriage. Mr. Evans is doing this too?"
"I knew there was something fishy about Mr. Evans being interested in her.”
"Adrian, cut the bull.” Cordelia stepped forward to shut Adrian up.
"Cordelia, have you no shame? You'd rather have a contractual marriage with Ronan than be with Mr.
Colby? Is it all about the money that Mr. Colby can't provide? I saw Manda at his office when I stopped
by PrimeNumbers Accounting this morning." Adrian was fuming.
Kendra was just shooed away from Jamie, and now Manda showed up. If Manda was around Jamie all
the time, it was inevitable that they would develop feelings for each other. If Jamie fell for Manda, what
was left for Cordelia?
Seeing his plan falling apart, Adrian was desperate. Today, he came to expose the true relationship
between Cordelia and Ronan, to make the people at Lumos Enterprises aware that their marriage was
a sham and to ruin their relationship.
Last time, Cordelia, out of spite, told him that she was in a contractual marriage with Ronan.
Adrian's outburst brought joy to Deanna. Last time, Adrian had tried to spill the beans about their
contractual marriage at Ronan's place, but Cordelia's so-called pregnancy threw him off. Deanna only
thought about getting Cordelia to abort the baby, without thinking much.
Right when Adrian was kicking up a fuss and everyone was enjoying the drama, Ronan stepped out of
the elevator. He walked up to Cordelia, wrapped his arm around her waist, and calmly said,
"Contractual marriage? If that's the case, just wait and see if we get divorced."
The lobby fell into an eerie silence, while Adrian stood there with his mouth agape.
Ronan held Cordelia close, her hand clinging tightly to his body. Somehow her phone slipped into
Ronan's coat pocket without her noticing. As they reached the exit, Ronan told the security guards,
"Screen people more thoroughly from now on, or you can start looking for new jobs."
With that, he and Cordelia headed for the parking lot.
Adrian was, after all, Cordelia's brother, and she felt embarrassed for him.
"Where to?" Cordelia asked Ronan after getting in the car.
"Let's get some food." With that, Ronan started the car.
"What about us?" Recalling Ronan's words about whether or not we'll get divorced, she thought he
meant they won't be divorcing.
"We'll see."
Cordelia simply hummed in response.
Ronan took Cordelia to a private dining room. Without ordering anything, the waiter brought in dishes
that looked incredibly appetizing. Cordelia took a bite and found it delicious.
"Do you eat like this every noon?" She looked up at him, and asked in surprise.
"What else?"
"If you're eating so well, why do you still need me to bring you lunch?" Cordelia was slightly annoyed.
"To save money." Ronan chuckled.
Cordelia wasn't buying it. She frowned and said, "You're eating like a king while I'm stuck with hot
dogs."
"Do you want to join me for lunch from now on?" Ronan asked.
"No." Cordelia preferred food with strong flavors.
"Cut down on spicy food. It's not good for conception."
The sudden mention of pregnancy caught Cordelia off guard, and she choked on her water. She
coughed, "Are you kidding me? That's not part of our agreement." Content © NôvelDrama.Org.
"Don't you like me?" Ronan smiled at Cordelia, almost making her lost in his smile.
"Who wouldn't like a tall, rich, and handsome guy like you?" Cordelia fired back.
"Including you?"
Cordelia lowered her head, her heart racing. Even if she did have feelings for him, she knew he was
out of her league. They were from different worlds, and she couldn't imagine a happy future for them.
Furthermore, she had planned not to get pregnant within the next five years. She just started at the
Audit Department and couldn't let a baby get in the way of her career.
Cordelia lowered her head and slowly sipped her soup. "Don't feel obligated because I saved you. I
would've done the same for anyone. It's instinctual."
"Is that so?" Ronan asked. "Let's eat."
Today, Cordelia looked more delicate with her hair tied up. Her nose was high and her eyes were
round. Ronan was entranced.
Today marked many firsts. It was the first time Cordelia wore a ponytail, and the first time they had a
meal together. Even though the trees outside had lost all their leaves, Ronan could still feel the
vibrancy of spring and a slight sense of tipsiness. A slight smile played on his lips.
"Does your head still hurt?" He asked her.
"It's my brother. He's such a headache." Cordelia replied.
After they finished eating, they prepared to head back to the office.
"Cordelia?" A voice filled with surprise came from behind them.
