The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 156

Chapter 156

The next day, after tidying up her grandma's bedding, Cordelia hitched a ride back to Millstone with

Edwin.

With the Halloween celebrations over, she dove straight into work. Milana told her that the annual

summary meeting was just around the corner, and Mr. Evans would be handing out awards to the

entire Audit Department.

Cordelia clenched her fists, quietly whispering his name. Thoughts of him always left her in a whirlwind

of conflicting emotions.

It had been a while since she last saw him, only occasionally exchanging messages with Barney on

Messenger, keeping up appearances.

As the year-end approached, the Audit Department was swamped. Cordelia was running around like a

headless chicken all day, often pulling overtime at night.

A few days later, at 10 p.m., Cordelia was still crunching numbers while eating her takeout. Wyatt

passed by her office and saw her hard at work through the glass door. He snapped a photo and sent it

to Ronan.

The caption read. [Mr. Evans, looks like you won't be having kids in the next five years.]

Ronan stared at the photo of Cordelia. The side profile of her face was breathtaking. Her delicate

features, flawless skin, and her focused working demeanor were irresistibly attractive, radiating a

sophisticated sexiness.

Just seeing this photo of Cordelia, Ronan felt turned on.

He saved the picture.

But thinking of how Cordelia had once cried and argued with him in his office over another man made

him furious. Even worse, that guy was his sworn enemy.

"What are you looking at, Ronan?" That night, Deanna dropped by Ronan's place. She had just

finished filming a night scene and came over to check if Cordelia had spilled the beans about their past.

"Nothing much, just looking at a photo of my wife."

Ronan's intense gaze earlier had Deanna thinking that Cordelia had sent him a risqué photo.

"Cordelia's mom is recovering, and she doesn't even come home. That's too much." Deanna seemed

to be taking Ronan's side. "Can her mom speak now?"

"Guess so." Ronan sprawled lazily on the sofa, leaning to one side. He picked up the TV remote and

switched on the television.

"Ronan, you still watch TV? Have you seen the show I'm in? My Dear Dr. Rowland is about to air."

Deanna remembered Ronan wasn't fond of TV.

"I've been watching movies lately." After saying that, Ronan switched back to the movie he was

watching earlier.

"What's the movie called?"

"Rip-off Hero," Ronan answered, shooting Deanna a glance.

Deanna turned pale as a ghost. What was Ronan implying? Did he know about their past?

Deanna had a sinking feeling that she wouldn't be able to keep this secret for much longer.

She had known Cordelia was away, and thought she could use tonight to rekindle old flames with

Ronan, take some pictures of them in bed together, and show Cordelia.

But now...

"Ronan, I'll head off now. It's late, you should get some rest." After saying that, Deanna left with a

heavy heart.

She was pondering, “Should she come clean with Ronan, and how could she do so without tarnishing

his perception of her?”

Emily from the HR Department sent a message to Ronan on Messenger. [Mr. Evans, we're presenting

awards to the Audit Department the day after tomorrow. Do you need to prepare anything? We've got

the prizes ready.]

Every time he thought of the Audit Department, or rather, Cordelia, Ronan felt at a loss. But he still

replied with a short message. [No need.]

[Well, you should get ready. Tomorrow is the annual summary and Audit Department recognition Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.

ceremony. You should go over your speech again.]
