The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 170

Chapter 170

Lumos Enterprises began operating after Christmas.

Finally, work had begun. For Cordelia, staying at home was even more exhausting than working, with

Ronan wearing her out every day.

On her first day at work, she received a massive gift package. It contained a high-end watch that every

accountant needed, which could remind her about VAT issues, and a calculator that was way more

advanced than the typical ones since it could do function calculations. There was also a handwriting

board designed specifically for finance work.

Cordelia couldn't keep her hands off them. All these items were purchased separately, and it was quite

a task to collect them all. Plus, they were all the highest specs available domestically. It must have

taken quite a while to collect these items, and they were probably pretty expensive too.

This time, she was sure that these were gifts from Jamie, because only Jamie would know her that

well.

Jamie also sent her a message: a[Do you like your gift?]

[I love it. Thank you. It's too expensive. I have to pay you back.]

With that, Cordelia transferred $500 to Jamie. But Jamie didn't accept the payment.

As for the gifts, Cordelia really didn't want to give them back. Why did he send flowers before if he was

going to give her such thoughtful gifts? She didn't ask Jamie about the flowers when she received

them, and Jamie didn't ask her either. Now, Cordelia wondered whether the flowers were really from NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.

Jamie.

[Mr. Colby, did you send me flowers on Christmas?] she asked Jamie.

[Do I look like the type to shoot myself in the foot?]

Cordelia frowned slightly. It didn't seem like something Jamie would do. Jamie wouldn't cause trouble

for her, but who could have sent them then?

Milana wasn't a gossip, but she also couldn't keep her hands off Cordelia's gifts, commenting on how

generous the gift-giver was.

"No way, I need to report this and have Wyatt get all of us one of these. It's so unfair that you get to use

these advanced tools while we can only watch in envy." Milana said, "It's making me feel so jealous."

Cordelia didn't want to make a big deal out of this, afraid that it would cause issues with Ronan, but

Milana was insistent.

Understanding the mindset of a finance professional, Cordelia didn't say anything.

Milana quickly filed the report. The next day, Wyatt personally visited Cordelia's office to check out

these tools.

Even though the budget was only a few tens of thousands of dollars, any new facilities in the Finance

Department had to be reported to Ronan.

"Are these items necessary?" Ronan asked Wyatt after reading the report.

"We saw Cordelia using these tools so smoothly and efficiently, of course we're envious."

Ronan frowned slightly, "Cordelia?"

"Isn't she your wife?"

"Who gave these to her?"

Wyatt shrugged, "That's her privacy."

Without naming it, Ronan knew who sent it. The only person who knew that much about auditing was

that man.

Just when one issue had settled, another one arose.

Just a few days ago, Cordelia had started to warm up to him a bit, and now Jamie was giving her gifts.

"The Audit Department gets a grant of one thousand dollars per person to purchase their own

equipment. Excess won't be reimbursed, and shortages won't be compensated. As for those who

already have equipment," Ronan's gaze momentarily dimmed, "no money will be given."

"Alright." With that, Wyatt left.

Soon, the funds for the Finance Department arrived at the Audit Department. Everyone in the Audit

Department was overjoyed, except for Cordelia.

Unlike the way she treated the money Ronan gave her, this was the money she deserved for her work,

but Ronan sent it for everyone but her.

This issue was related to Jamie, so she couldn't go to Ronan, or else she would be asking for

embarrassment.

Even in bed, Cordelia didn't mention a word, which was completely different from her previous attitude

towards Ronan.

Ronan had been quite unhappy recently. He didn't say anything, but he was quite fierce in bed.

After the holiday, Shelley was going to move back home.

"Mom." Cordelia called out unwillingly when Shelley mentioned it at dinner.

"Be good. You're already so grown up. Plus, you're married now, you should spend more time with your

husband, instead of following around me all the time. Judy should be coming back soon. We'll be fine."

Cordelia lowered her head and sipped her soup like a child.

"What? You don't want to be with me?" Ronan asked coldly.

"No." Cordelia continued sipping her soup.
