Chapter 67
Chapter 67
Ronan was alone in his office, deeply lost in thought.
Last night, she had rejected him in bed. Even earlier, she'd insisted that she didn't want kids, that her
goal was to become a CPA and make a ton of money.
She told him it was all lies to trick her brother, but in retrospect, that was far from the truth!
She had indeed aborted his child, and kept it from him.
Cordelia!!
He dialed Cordelia's number on the office phone.
"Get to my office now!" His voice was icy cold.
Cordelia was drained, and she was in the middle of a task that couldn't be interrupted. So, she tried to
put him off. "Can it wait?"
"Now."
Cordelia reluctantly let go of her work and trudged to his office.
No sooner had she stepped in than he angrily blurted, "Did you abort our baby?"
"What?" Cordelia was clueless about what he was talking about.
"While I was away, did you abort our baby?" Ronan glared at Cordelia, his eyes seemingly lethal.
Cordelia frowned slightly, thinking: She had never been pregnant in the first place, hadn't she already
told him that?
"I wasn't pregnant, I just lied to fool my brother," Cordelia said.
But then she noticed the lunchbox on Ronan's desk.
Who had been here? Deanna? Deanna had once sought her out, wanting her to abort the baby. Now
that she had acted according to Deanna's wishes, had Deanna come to spill the beans to Ronan?
Deanna was a crafty and cunning woman.
Cordelia was no match for her, she knew that whatever Deanna said, Ronan would believe it.
After all, Deanna was his first love!
She scoffed coldly, "No matter what I say, it won't make a difference. Since you're convinced I've had
an abortion, let's just say I did. I'm leaving! Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
"Stop right there!" Ronan tried his best to contain his rage.
He got up from his chair, stepped towards Cordelia gradually, until she was backed up against the door
with no room to escape.
Cordelia looked at Ronan, her brows slightly furrowed and panic in her eyes.
"Why did you abort our baby?" His eyes were bloodshot as he stared at Cordelia, just mere inches
away from her.
Indeed, Deanna could stir all his emotions, at least this side of Ronan was something Cordelia had
never seen before.
"We were bound to get a divorce anyway, why should I keep the baby?" Cordelia raised her head, her
eyes full of determination and defiance.
"Why didn't you discuss it with me?"
"I never told you I was pregnant, so there was no need for a discussion. How much are you willing to
pay for the baby?" Cordelia asked him, a sarcastic smile dancing on her lips.
"How much do you want?" Ronan stared at Cordelia intently, asking her word for word.
"Fifty million dollars."
"Money issues can be easily solved." Ronan seemed to be seething with anger, yet he remained eerily
calm.
Cordelia suddenly laughed, "What's the point of discussing this now? The baby is gone."
"Go sleep in your dorm tonight!" Ronan growled in a low voice, "I don't want to see you!"
"Fine." Cordelia agreed nonchalantly.
As Ronan turned around, Cordelia walked out of his office.
While walking, she thought: She had already told him that she wasn't pregnant, but he wouldn't believe
her. A single word from Deanna had set him off. Staying in the dorm was a good idea, it would keep her
away from his rage.
Cordelia hurried down the corridor.
People who saw her were whispering amongst themselves: She must have had a secret abortion and
had a falling out with Mr. Evans.
Earlier, Jordan had seen Cordelia going to Mr. Evans' office. He had been worried sick. After Cordelia's
abortion, he didn't let her take a leave, fearing that Mr. Evans would get angry.
Now, he had to go to Ronan's office.
On the way, Cordelia saw him, simply greeted him, and nodded.
Obviously, Cordelia and Mr. Evans had probably had a fight.
Jordan had a cold shiver down his spine.
He knocked on the door to Ronan's office.
Ronan had just lit a cigarette and was leaning on his chair in irritation, which made Jordan even more
reluctant to speak.
"Just say it." Ronan seemed impatient.
"Mr. Evans, here's the thing, Cordelia had an abortion earlier, but she didn't take a leave, so I didn't let
her either. This might not be good for her recovery, I didn't think much at the time, please don't be
angry." Jordan explained.
"How did you know she had an abortion?"
"She... when she came back from the hospital, she left her medical record on the desk and went to the
restroom. Someone sitting next to her saw it and told me."
"You can leave now." A cloud of smoke filled Ronan's vision, making him wonder why she would bother
to forge a medical record if she was faking her pregnancy.
"Is everything okay, Mr. Evans?"
"I said you can leave." Ronan frowned in annoyance.
Jordan quickly made his exit.
After work, Ronan didn't want to go home, he just sat in his office.
Until it was very dark outside, he didn't turn on the lights, nor did he plan on leaving.
