Chapter 2302
Chapter 2302
Grant gently helped Bella into the backseat of his car just as Steven hurried over, out of breath.
"Ms. Bella! Are you okay?!"
Bella's expression was complex, but she forced a faint smile. "Don't worry, Steve. I'm fine."
"Ms. Thompson was nearly hit by a truck and fell on the same leg from her previous accident." Grant did not give her a chance to pretend to be strong and spoke frankly. "I'm worried her old injury might flare up, so I'm taking her to the hospital."
"How did this happen?" Steven's voice was heavy with guilt. "Ms. Bella, it's all my fault! I was negligent!"
"It's fine. It's an accident. It's not your fault," Bella said with a faint shake of her head, then turned to Grant. "Mr. Salvador, thank you for saving me. But my secretary can take me to the hospital. There's no need to trouble you further."
Just as Grant was about to respond, his face turned deathly pale, and his body shook violently as he clutched the car handle for support.
Bella and Steven were both shocked!
"Mr. Grant!" At that moment, Clarice hurried over and supported the unsteady Grant, swiftly placing two pills into his mouth.Property of Nô)(velDr(a)ma.Org.
As Grant swallowed them, a hint of color slowly returned to his face, but his breathing remained labored.
"Mr. Grant, you're pushing yourself too hard!" Clarice patted his trembling back, her voice trembling with urgency. "I heard that you rushed forward without hesitation to save Ms. Thompson! Your body isn't strong enough for such intense exertion. It's dangerous!"
Grant struggled to steady his breathing, glancing briefly at Bella. "It's alright... See, I'm fine now. I'll be okay with some medicine..."
Clarice's voice tightened with concern. "How can you say that? I know exactly what you've been through to get here. I've been taking care of you for so long. Do you think I don't understand your condition?"
Bella noticed his pale face and murmured, "Thank you for saving me this time, Mr. Salvador."
Grant smiled as he said, "As long as you're alright, that's what matters."
"My secretary will take me to the hospital. You should go back and get some rest," Bella insisted, still polite but firm. "But I owe you a favor now. I will repay it."
Grant's long lashes fluttered, and his deep gaze softened with a hidden tenderness. "If you
wish to repay me, then allow me to visit you at the hospital."
Bella hesitated, biting her lip.
But since he had saved her life, she could not find a reason to refuse, so she agreed.
Eventually, Bella and Steven left the orphanage.
Grant sat back in his wheelchair, and Clarice pushed him back inside.
"Sir, no matter the circumstances, you shouldn't gamble with your health!" Clarice's voice was still shaky. "Your body is the foundation of everything. Without it, nothing else matters!"
Just then, Yvonne came toward them, accompanied by a group of lively children.
A spirited boy, not paying attention, accidentally collided with Grant, who was sitting in his wheelchair.
"Watch where you're going, you little rascal!" Clarice scolded as he glared angrily at the child.
The boy froze on the spot, frightened.
"I'm so sorry!" Yvonne quickly stepped forward, bowing in apology and pulling the boy behind her.
Grant rested his arms on the wheelchair's armrests, his posture graceful and composed, as he raised his gaze to look at the woman before him. "It's alright. I like lively and adorable children."
The familiar voice-clear, steady, and deep-reached Yvonne's ears.
Her pupils dilated abruptly, and her spine stiffened as if struck by lightning. Her fingers curled up unconsciously.
She thought, 'That voice sounds like the "Boss" whom Christopher regarded as his savior!'
