Chapter 140 Clearing Things Up
She had kept giving in but now felt cornered.
Why did it seem like she was being bullied by someone who wasn't even part of their relationship?
Did they really think that they could push around someone who looked easygoing?!
"Miss Murphy," Ranita retorted sharply while holding back tears, "Your words are strange indeed! Brendon is my husband; where else would he sleep at night if not here?! Who else will take care of him besides me?! As far as whether or not I'm tired goes…that's between us married couples."
She paused before continuing sarcastically, "But since Miss Murphy seems so concerned about our private life…wouldn't it be better if we told each other which positions we use or how long we do it?" Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
As soon as the words left Ranita's mouth, Shannon's eyes welled up with tears making them look like deflated balloons.
"Ranita, I grew up with Brendon as childhood friends. I'm just concerned about him. Why do you have to be so harsh?" Shannon bit her lip, her voice pure and fragile like it could break at any moment. "You know our relationship with Brendon..."
Ranita felt disgusted inside.
This was too disgusting!
Ranita sneered coldly, "Don't make me laugh. You can shamelessly cling to my husband every day just because you grew up together? Everyone knows that men and women should not be intimate
unless they are married or in a relationship. What about you? Miss Murphy, you come from a noble family; surely someone taught you that it's wrong to touch another woman's husband?"
Shannon turned pallid.
Her body shook uncontrollably, as if Ranita had stepped on her tail. Her eyes were full of misery and tears streamed down immediately.
"It wasn't like that... I never wanted to ruin your marriage... it was an accident..."
She willingly went into their bedroom and fooled around with him; how was that not ruining their marriage? What else could be considered ruining it?
Ranita couldn't believe how thick-skinned Shannon was.
At first, Ranita didn't want to bring it up again but the wound was dug out forcefully once more causing unbearable pain.
Since Shannon wanted to settle the score, then let's clear things up once and for all.
"Shannon, did Brendon force himself on you while he was drunk? Were you also drunk or did someone tie you up forcing you into his room?" Ranita couldn't continue speaking anymore; the disgust in her heart almost overwhelmed her completely.
"I... I really didn't mean it... I never wanted this..." Shannon swayed back and forth like she had suffered a great blow; she looked like she would fall over at any moment.
Ranita felt repulsed by this display of weakness from Shannon.
"Miss Murphy, Brendon is not here. Don't put on a show in front of me." There was a pause, and Ranita's lips curled into a mocking smile. "If you must faint, do it somewhere else. Don't put the
blame on me again; I can't bear it!"
"Ranita..."
"Shannon?" Suddenly, a voice of surprise came from somewhere.
The newcomer was Dylan.
He glanced briefly at Shannon before revealing his pearly white teeth in a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes. "What are you doing here? Although I don't hit women often, if ever but if anyone dares hurt Ranita, then maybe I'll make an exception."
"Mr. Webster..." Shannon sniffled, her voice soft and filled with a sense of brokenness. "I didn't do anything to Ranita, it was her... she was the one who picked on me. Mr. Webster, you're so biased!"
"Haha! I'm not biased towards Ranita, do I favor you? Where do you get such a big ego?"
Shannon looked even sadder as Dylan berated her, frantically wiping away the tears that kept falling down her face. "Mr. Webster... why do you have to bully a girl like me?" she whimpered pitifully.
This set Dylan off completely. He grabbed his file bag and glared at Shannon, saying angrily, "I bully you just by saying a few words? What about you? You hired someone to kill Ranita, what's that called?"
"That's called being a murderer!"
