The Imposter Bride (Natalia and Magnus)

Chapter 512

Chapter 512

Anna brushed off the matter with a nod of acquiescence. "Alright then."

And so, Jonas found himself consigned to days filled with menial farm work and nights in the spartan quarters reserved for the help.

Jonas didn't say much about his new lot, but he was anxious that his absence had stretched too long, and he feared Richard might spill the beans to Dad and Mom. He resolved to persuade Johanson to let him go at any cost.

Dressed in the worn garb of a servant, Jonas approached Johanson once more, his plea earnest, "Mr. Johanson, I've toiled here for days on end. Might | now take my leave? Rest assured, upon my return, | shall compensate you handsomely!"

Johanson could hardly contain his laughter at Jonas’ words, "Ha! Compensate me handsomely? Let me tell you, | have no need for your money. You'd best forget that notion and work off your debt like a good servant!"Property of Nô)(velDr(a)ma.Org.

With a disdainful wave, Johanson dismissed Jonas and strode out of the hall.

Jonas clenched his fists, his anger spreading like wildfire within.

No, he simply could not stay here any longer! Come what may, he would depart this day! Resolved, Jonas cast aside his worries and strode toward the estate's boundary.

Johanson left the hall, and joined Anna on the beach, frolicking in the sand. Suddenly, the butler came running from a distance, shouting breathlessly, "Mr. Johanson, something happened!"

Johanson rose from the sand, frowning and puzzled as the butler approached, panting. "What's all this fuss about?"

"It's... it's..." The butler gasped for air, then hesitantly continued, "That young man you picked up, he's causing a ruckus about leaving the village. He won't listen to reason!"

Johanson’s temper flared. He'd already made it clear there would be no leaving. Annoyed, he glared at the butler, "You fool! Can't you lock him up if he won't listen? A donkey needs a good thrashing to comply. Why are you panicking over such a trivial matter? | wonder why I've let you be my butler all these years!"

The butler's face reddened with shame as he lamented, "Mr. Johanson, | did try to lock him up, but the boy must have learned some sort of martial arts. We couldn't lay a hand on him!"

“What? He knows martial arts?" Johanson was incredulous. The boy he'd brought back seemed no older than himself, yet he possessed such skill?

The butler wiped the sweat from his brow. "Yes, Mr. Johanson, his skills are formidable. He injured several of our men!"

“Hmph, a bunch of incompetents!" Johanson marched back to the estate. "I want to see for myself just how ‘formidable’ his skills

are.

The butler hurried after him, warning, "Mr. Johanson, please don't underestimate him! His moves are unorthodox and unpredictable, and he's made a mess of our strongest men. Something's not right."

"Is that so? Well, I'm keen to see how my Muay Thai measures up to his ‘martial arts.” With that, Johanson urged Anna, "Let's go back to the estate and see."

Anna nodded, her voice soft with apprehension. "Johanson, will he be dangerous?"

"Don't worry, I'm here. I'll keep you safe," Johanson reassured her confidently, puffing up his chest as they headed back to the estate.

Upon their return, they were met with the sounds of scuffles ahead. Jonas, already burning with fury, had been working his fingers to the bone for Johanson without any sign of release.

Determined to leave on his own terms, he'd been stopped by the estate's men, igniting his wrath. He was missing in action, and he knew he had to get back before Richard called his parents, a prospect too dreadful to consider.

Thanks to his years of specialized training, Jonas had laid out the men who tried to detain him, but even he couldn't fend off their sheer numbers. The men had not fared well against him, but Jonas was still trapped.

Some lay floored by his hand. Now, although they dared not approach him, they encircled him, barring his exit.

Despite his skill, fatigue was setting in. But the fierce desire to return home fueled him, renewing his vigor as he lashed out with fists and feet. He knew any sign of weakness would bring them swarming.

It was then that Johanson and Anna arrived.

Seeing Jonas, Johanson immediately swept Anna up. He passed Anna to the butler, instructing quietly, "Take the miss to the back garden. Leave this ruffian to me."

With that, Johanson leaped into the fray, looking arrogantly at Jonas, surrounded and seeking to leave.

"Cocky brat," Johanson sneered. "I've said it before, your life is mine to claim. You are omy servdnt As SUH, whete'do you think you're going? Get back to work, and I'll overlook your insolence just this once." Please read the original content at .

Jonas, meeting Johanson’s sudden appearance with a sardonic smile, had to acknowledge the rescue, albeit begrudged. "Indeed, | am grateful for your rescue and shall repay you doubly. But | must leave!"

His tone shifted. "I can't stay as your servant. | have pressing matters to attend to. Lend me a boat to depart, and | will repay you twofold upon my return."

Johanson’s lips curled into a sardonic smile. "Repay me? You sure have a way with words. And what happens when you just up and leave? ee

sbie e then? Besides, do you really think my grand estate is going to miss your chump change? Kid, don't get ahead of yourself. When you're pulled out of a tight spot, you should show some gratitude, not just throw money around like it's no big deal. Is your life really only worth that paltry sum?" Jonas’ cheeks flushed with embarrassment at Johanson’s words. He realized he had been t hasty. He offer d-asiarte apology. "Keysarty, \e just been homesick and spoke out of turn. But | really can't stay here, because there are urgent matters back home waiting for me to take care of. Believe me, when | say I'll repay your kindness, | mean it."
