Chapter 63 - The Race is On!
Chapter 63 - The Race is On!
"You're just a poor boy who deserves to live on the streets," Adam said angrily to Arthur, sneering
sarcastically. "Did you sell your organs to rent this luxury car? Are you willing to die just to look rich in
front of us? Ha!"
Adam asked, his anger suddenly flaring, "Do you want to challenge my son, Marco, to a car race? Do
you think you can win? And do you have enough money to place a bet?"
Adam had only wanted to watch Arthur suffer under the harsh treatment of his son, but his fury had
abruptly risen when the son of a bitch had pulled up in a flashy luxury car with a stunningly beautiful
young girl in tow. Inwardly, Adam wished he was as young as Marco so he, too, could draw that girl's
attention. He had to admit, she was truly mesmerizing. "She's so perfect," he murmured to himself.
Marco strutted up to Arthur, displaying his irritated expression.
"Hey Arthur," he jeered, "I'm quite surprised you had the nerve to show your face here today. I thought
for sure you'd be too ashamed to come after you realized you couldn't avoid the consequences of your
actions. Are you prepared to part with all your riches and bow down to me? And I can guarantee you I'll
take the lovely lady you're with away from you. I'm going to make sure your life is miserable for having
dared to cross me." Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.
Arthur smiled and replied calmly, "I'm honored that Mr. Adam and Mrs. Kora will be present to witness
me defeat their son in the challenge he set forth."
"What? You must be joking! Are you really willing to risk humiliation, Arthur?"
Marco had meticulously planned his strategy to win the challenge that day. He had hired two of the
most experienced race car drivers in town at an exorbitant rate. Additionally, he had ensured that no
other drivers ranked from 3 to 10 could be hired by Arthur, though he had no certainty that Arthur would
attempt to do so.
Marco had thoughtfully plotted his best strategy, even though it cost him a great deal of money, to
ensure that Arthur would be made to pay for his losses.
"So, you're saying that you're ready to accept any bet I offer, Arthur?" Marco asked, his eyebrows
raised in anticipation.
Marco had declared beforehand that the smallest wager he would accept was an exorbitant one billion
dollars. The resolute look in Arthur's eyes demonstrated he was willing to take the chance. Although
Marco was uncertain of where Arthur would procure the money, he knew the implications of this bet
would be catastrophic; Arthur would be crushed, unable to regain his footing and even secure the
resources to put food on the table.
"One billion dollars is nothing to me," Arthur said, turning to Adam. "I'd humbly accept if Mr. Adam
wishes to raise the stakes this time. I'm certain such a small sum is of little value to one such as
yourself, is it not?"
Adam was incensed upon hearing Arthur's challenge. One billion dollars was certainly no small sum for
him, but he refused to stay silent when a cheeky young man dared to challenge him with such an
amount.
"Don't be so arrogant, Arthur. Are you certain you have the money to back this bet? Or are you just
talking big?" he said mockingly.
"I'm giving you the chance to guarantee that all bets and car races this time around are conducted
legally and fairly," Arthur responded composedly and assuredly.
Marco had arranged for a lawyer to attend their bet that day, and a male lawyer soon arrived with
various documents ready for them to sign.
"Let's make the bet 2 billion dollars," Adam said, eyeing Arthur expectantly, anticipating that the huge
amount would cause him to tremble and faint.
However, Arthur remained composed and nodded his agreement. "Of course, Mr. Adam."
The contract they signed had two stipulations: the amount of the bet and, if the loser lost, they would
have to prostrate before the winner in front of the crowd, and the winner would choose the location.
Arthur signed the document without hesitation, and after he had deposited the required amount, a
chime signified the successful transfer of the money.
Adam was shocked to see that Arthur had actually transferred the funds. "Have you been raiding a
bank, brat?"
He then turned to his lawyer. "Verify that this money is legitimate, and if there's any doubt, report him to
the police immediately."
They were eager to get started after completing all the necessary preparations for the car race that day.
There were three rounds of racing, with the first pitting Marco's hired racer, ranked number two in town,
against someone from Arthur's side. The second round would be Marco against someone from Arthur's
side, and the final round would be the decisive one, where Marco's best racer would compete against
Arthur.
Nevertheless, Marco remained confident that he would be able to finish the race in two rounds, as he
was certain that his driving skills were superior to anyone Arthur could present.
The first round race was about to begin, and two cars were already lined up on the track. The race
would consist of fifty laps, and the driver of any car that had an accident during the race would be
immediately disqualified.
Arthur strode up to the first racer, Beta, who was one of his bodyguards and also a skilled racer.
"Boss, I won't let you down," Beta, whose only name was his codename, said firmly,
Edna had been trying to find a racer for Arthur, but she found it difficult because Marco had seemingly
blocked all potential access. After much consideration, they eventually decided to include Arthur's
bodyguards, who surprisingly happened to be proficient at car racing.
"Beta, don't worry too much. Do your best without putting yourself at risk. We have three chances, so
you don't need to worry," Arthur said calmly.
"No Boss, I will try my utmost and I will feel ashamed if I fail to live up to your expectations," Beta
replied confidently.
Arthur and Edna, and the other bodyguards quickly took their seats in the spectator area as the first
round race began.
After a few seconds, the countdown commenced, and at the sound of the starter's gun, the two cars
shot off.
