Chapter 31: 31
Chapter 31: 31
“A penny for your thoughts?" Hailey asked Lex as they walked along the shore.
“I'm just thinking how my life would be after college." he rubbed his neck.
“Don't beat yourself about it, you're going to be a great dermatologist, I know so." she nudged him.
“ It's not about the profession, it's about getting the job, at least you've got your future secure." he
sighed.
“Come on, you are a great student and any organisation to reject you, it's their loss. And what do you
mean, I've got my future secured?" she urged.
“Duuh, you're the daughter to the Wayne's no need to struggle for a job," he stated the obvious.
“Just like Keith, I have no interest in their company, besides they've got bitchy Soraya to do so. And my
major, aviation has nothing to do with their line of business, after here, it's aviation school for me." she
voiced out slightly annoyed.
“No offence though, but becoming a pilot while you can take the easiest way out to work for them, isn't
that pretty much?" the question he asked, broke the horse's back.
“Offence is taken. Why are you so keen on making me change my mind? You know what, to hell with
their company and your opinions, you can shove them up to your ass. So great for an understanding
boyfriend." she in the opposite direction.
“Hailey wait!" he called after her as she raised her middle finger at him.
“Calm down Hails, maybe he didn't mean for you to get angry. It was just a suggestion. Perhaps he
didn't understand why that wasn't your goal and that of Keith's." Sunny reasoned with her.
“He's just hot-headed and wants me to do what he thinks is right for me. It's been my goal to be a pilot
and I am going for it. " she determinedly smiled.
“Yes ma'am." Sunny chuckled at her friend who walked into her room.
She's been through a lot since childhood and she hoped everyone would accept her decision to be
what she wanted for once, not what her parents wanted. Lex should just understand that part of her
and support her, not rather trying to push her into what she doesn't want to be.
She's starting to be herself, and there's no way I am going to stay and allow him try talking her out of
her dreams, for once she gets to make her own decisions concerning her life, let her be!
All that façade her mom put up was to get them to agree to work in their company, she thought the
woman had realised her mistakes and was working through to forgiveness, boy were they wrong. Both
Keith and Hailey have swept the matter under the carpet, they just don't want to talk about it, and
Sunny respects that. Sunny thought to herself as she kept the cookies in the oven.
“Who's your arm candy for tonight?" One of the journalists asked.
“He's a mystery for you to find out," Soraya added as she walked into the gala with Noah by her side.
Though their relationship was a rocky one, he cared a lot about her.
“So I am your mystery man aie?" Noah asked.
“Well, I don't want the press to get the wrong idea about us," she said to him.
“Wrong idea?" he asked confused.
“Don't fret about it, come on there's some people you've got to meet." she changed the topic as they
approached some of her clients.
Did she mean I was just a fling and all of this was just to satisfy her? he thought to himself.
“I'll bet you could get someone who is rich enough to go talk to your clients, I don't want to know whom
you would introduce me as," Noah said walking out on her.
"Why is he so clingy and hot-headed?
He's beginning to sound like Zed. She reasoned as one of her clients approached her.
“Are you sure you need to do this? I could go in your stead?" Val inquired from her boss.
Nichole had arrived in Jersey City, for an event she was invited to. She had wanted to close that
chapter of her life and start afresh.
“Nope, Val I need to do this. Enough of me hiding from my past, no one knows I am here, I just came
for charity work, and by tomorrow we would be back to Italy," she explained.
“If you say so," Val added as she parked the car and they headed in. The event had already started so
there were no paparazzi at the entrance.
“It's showtime," Nichole smirked walking into the auditorium with her head held high.
“Is, is that Nichole?" Soraya grit her teeth as she spotted her ex-best friend walk elegantly into the
auditorium. She was angry her friend looked prettier than her.
“Time to say hello to an old friend," she said walking towards her holding a glass of red wine.
“Ah, if it's not Nichole." she eyed her up and down.
“And look what the cat dragged in," she smirked.
“Tsk, tsk...you ran away to Italy, what do you want in Jersey City? I run this town remember?" Soraya
barked.
“Mmmm, the last time I checked you don't. Well, it was awful seeing you again. See you never."
Nichole turned on her heels and walked off leaving an angry Soraya Wayne behind.

She thought to herself as she sat on the seat that was reserved for her.
“You up for a movie marathon?" Sunny asked her best friend.
“Yaaaas, Netflix and chill please." she smiled.
“Okay, I heard there was a new show, the baker and the beauty. Let's try it out, it might be fun." Sunny
suggested.
“ If it's not, we watch Raya and the dragon," Hailey suggested.
“Okay, now get your ass out of bed and let's go make some snacks for the movie." she dragged her This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
friend out of bed.
“Sunny, you can make the snacks alone, while I just lay on my comfy bed waiting for you mama." she
resisted clutching onto her pillow as her life depended on it.
“Nope can't do, now get up Hailey bear." she tickled her friend as she fell off the bed.
“Ouch, my poor sexy ass." she pouted as Sunny laughed at her.
“I'm gonna get you for this Sunny," Hailey called running after her friend.
“You crossed the line this time bro!" Keith added.
“I just don't understand why you both, why?" Lex asked.
“Just leave it that way, we both have dreams, we won't be sucked into what our parents want for us.
We have our lives to live!" Keith told him.
“Whateves, it's both your lives to live, you can do what you want with it, I'd have your backs anyway,"
Lex added walking out on his friend.
This world is pretty unfair you know. He said to himself as he stood at the balcony.
