Ethlyn immediately realized what she ended up speaking in all this mess, but she wasn’t regretting it. It had bound to happen, right? Either this way or that way, she had to tell him. And what mattered the most was to clear the misunderstanding that she unintentionally created in his mind in the process of making him jealous.
“And I’m not protecting Nathan right now because I’m concerned for him. I’m protecting him because I’m concerned for you because I don’t want him to do anything in anger which isn’t required at all.” Ethlyn explained and removed her hand from her mouth. She waited for his response for a while, but it never came, maybe because he was still trying to absorb what he had just heard.
Calvin wouldn’t lie, but Ethlyn’s confession made his knees weak. ‘I love you, duffer.’ The words circled in his head. So, he couldn’t move or react; just simply stared at Ethlyn without even blinking his eyes.
Ethlyn turned her head toward Nathan and spoke, “I can’t believe you, Nathan. Just because you came to know that I don’t have my memory of my past, you stoop this low?” She asked in disgust.
“What the hell were you thinking? Taking advantage of my situation?” She asked again. “Leave the pack after… after treating your nose.” She added, pointing toward his nose, which was still bleeding.
“Damn, why are you standing? You should sit on the bed and lift your head up, throwing it backward.” She guided him by making him sit on her bed. She turned around to see whether Calvin was jealous because of this gesture, but it looked like he wasn’t.
“Don’t you think you should call the nurse or doctor, Alpha Calvin?” Nathan said in a sarcastic tone. Ethlyn really thought that Nathan was planning to die but what surprised her was Calvin’s words.Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
“Why should I call them? Let me provide you the first aid on my own.” Calvin responded in a sarcastic way and searched for the first aid box that was kept in the room as it was mandatory to keep it in all the rooms of the hospital.
Ethlyn’s eyes widened when Calvin started cleaning Nathan’s injury.
Like seriously? Was she dreaming? But she doubted that they would be this friendly.
“What am I missing?” She asked, looking at her past and present together in a friendly way. “Alpha Calvin, you were so mad at him just a moment before, and now you are dressing him. Not just that, you also ignored what I just confessed.” She pointed out.
Taking a deep breath, she asked in a low tone, “Does… does it matter nothing to you?”
‘Please don’t say ‘NO’ just for the sake of your EGO.’ She mentally spoke. Calvin gave cotton to Nathan’s hand so that he could help himself.
“What did you confess?” He asked with a poker face. “I want to listen to it again.”
Ethlyn narrowed her eyes and started thinking about whether she should confess her feelings in front of him again. He might mock her or make fun of her. “I love you, DUFFER.” She repeated, stressing the last word.
All of a sudden, she was in his arms; Calvin read her face before speaking, “Did I ever tell you that you look super sexy when you’re pissed?”
“Well, I kind of figured that out on my own.” She hissed. “And if you’re thinking that I will apologize to you for playing this game, then keep dreaming that won’t happen. Because I’m not at all sorry for what I did in the past few days.”
“Trust me; I’m not expecting any type of apology from you because I know I behaved like an utter dick with you. So… I know that I deserved that.”
“Then…”
She couldn’t get a chance to complete her words because Calvin kissed her passionately as he couldn’t get a chance to do it in the past week or more than that. Ethlyn wanted to hear his feelings for her now, but she could wait for a while because, just like Calvin, she missed him too. And at that moment, she kissed him back. She started feeling Cinder’s presence back in her mind.
‘Witch’s magic is strong but not stronger than mate bond and love. So, I can’t Cinder away from her mate for longer. She will appear anytime if something triggers her.’ She recalled Caroline’s words.
And just like she had mentioned, Cinder was already howling and jumping around in her mind because of happiness.
Calvin broke the kiss when he sensed Cinder and looked at the place where he had marked Ethlyn. His mark was back on her shoulder.
“I knew it. I knew that Caroline was using her power to mess with me.” Calvin pointed out that because all these days, he was spending a lot of time studying things, and his guts told him that Cinder’s disappearance had something to do with the witch’s spell.
The first person where he reached was Chloe, who was in the dungeon, thinking she was behind all this. But she denied doing anything with anyone’s wolf.
And the second witch who was in the pack was his sister, who had the power to do this.
“She was in this plan, wasn’t she? And who else was in it?” He asked suspiciously.
“Umm.. mm. Everyone.” Ethlyn grinned. “Everyone is our family except Colton.” She added.
“I guess I can’t blame anyone.” Saying this, he kissed her again. They closed their eyes and savored each other’s flavor. Their kiss was getting more intense with each passing second. Nathan wouldn’t be surprised if they would start having sex over there.
“Ethlyn, Alpha Calvin hasn’t responded to your feelings until now.” He reminded them to stop them from making him feel awkward. But his words didn’t affect both of them. He couldn’t believe that they were ignoring his presence, as if he wasn’t at all there. “Ethlyn is pregnant with my pup,” he said, on which Calvin couldn’t help himself, and breaking the kiss, he growled at him.
“I swear, I will kill you if you will repeat the same thing again. This wasn’t in the plan.” Calvin growled in anger.
“Plan? What plan?” Ethlyn asked in confusion.
“Well, this… I mean, my lie and our conversation were all scripted and planned by Alpha Calvin.” Nathan replied, shrugging his shoulder. “To know whether you have really lost your memory or are just acting and figured out that you were also playing with him.” He added.
“Even the punch? And the injury?” Ethlyn asked in disbelief.
“Umm…. yeah!! Those were for hurting you again and again. And for not standing for you whenever you needed me the most. For cheating on you. Though I did that only once, but I won’t give it as an excuse. Cheating is cheating, and I guess ‘I’m sorry’ is not enough for that.’
“Unbelievable,” Ethlyn muttered, shaking her head. She was having a hard time wrapping up this all… everything that happened before was all scripted. “Why the hell did you do that?” Ethlyn asked, hitting Calvin’s arms.
“Well, to know the truth. To know what is going on in your mind. And to know your feelings,” Calvin replied, grinning. “Well, what can I say? Two can play that game,” he added with a wink on which Ethlyn fumed, thinking how stupid she was to fall into his trap.
‘Now, there is no way. He will tell his feelings.’ She thought, and that was when she heard.
“Ethlyn, you deserve someone better and worthy because you…. you’re selfless and an amazing person. You always put yourself first in case of any danger to all the people you know, or maybe you will do the same for a stranger, even though those people don’t deserve your kindness, for example, your gold-digger friend Ashley, your mother, your dickhead ex…”
“Hey… I’m still here.” Nathan complained.
“Or whether it’s me.” Calvin continued. “You deserve someone that worthy, who can have those amazing goodness just like you have inside you. You deserve someone who appreciates you even though you’re useless.” Ethlyn giggled, hearing it, and kept staring at Calvin blinking her eyes with lots of love.
“Someone who will not tease or annoy you. Someone who won’t make you cry. More importantly, Ethlyn, you deserve someone who is as good as you because…. well, you’re very special, and I know I’m not worth it.”
“Even after knowing all this, I wanted you to choose me. And the fact that you love me is like a dream that comes true. That’s why I was taking so much time to absorb this news. Ethlyn, I have completely fallen for you. Everything you do, everything you say, everything you’re. You’re my second thought in the morning, but you’re the last thought before I fall asleep, and you’re almost every thought in between.”
Ethlyn started crying after all this and hit his chest repeatedly. “You could have said that ‘I love you too.’ What was the need of giving a speech on it?” She complained while crying and then hugged him.
Calvin hugged her back and smiled before teasing, “Don’t cry in jealousy. Just because Rose will always be my first thought in the morning.” He laughed when Ethlyn hit him again.
