“And it will be better that I will be within my limit to others who know of our fight; you can point out anytime that everything that I use or wear is given by you. I don’t want to go through that reality check again.” She added, recalling how Nathan had told her.
‘Pack her things? What’s here that she has earned on her own? Everything belongs to me. So, give them back to me.’ Nathan had said about her ring and the pendant she was wearing.
“Again?” Calvin repeated her words. “What do you mean by that ‘AGAIN,’ Ethlyn?” He asked, clenching his jaw. Though Ethlyn didn’t answer his question, but he understood on his own. He mentally planned to give Nathan a powerful punch whenever he was going to meet him next time.
“Leave it. Forget that I even asked that question.” Calvin mumbled. “And if you’re wondering how you can repay me the price of these things, then start working instead of stopping me. Because there is no way, I’m going to stop myself from buying everything for you.”
“Start working? There is no job that will pay me this much, that too, to a woman who had just completed her studies.” Ethlyn frowned at his words.
“Then dream higher, Ethlyn. It’s your fault that you made yourself incapable of nothing.” Calvin taunted. “Or you’re among those women who want a powerful man to become powerful.”
“I’m not a gold-digger.” Ethlyn hissed when her temper rose. “I wanted to become a nurse practitioner. It’s just that… I couldn’t continue my studies.”
“Oh, that’s why you are useless in both the kitchen and the training ground.” Calvin mocked, on which she glared at him. Calvin grinned, seeing her like this rather than the sad one. Moon Goddess, he liked the fire in her eyes. “You can prove to me that you’re not useless by proving to me that you’re good in studies.”
“I don’t have to prove anything to you,” Ethlyn said.
“So, you want to remain useless all your life?” Calvin taunted her.
“I…I will learn how to cook and do all the household work. And I will also learn how to fight.” Ethlyn pointed out.
“Even after doing all those things, you won’t be self-dependent. You want Rose all by yourself, don’t you?” Calvin asked to which Ethlyn nodded her head. “How will you raise her? On your parent’s money? You will have to look up to your parents to fulfill her wish. And the part you’re good for nothing. No one will keep you as Beta female even though you’re beta’s blood in your vein. And no one will keep you as omega as well because you don’t know any household work.”
Ethlyn wasn’t liking that Calvin was making her feel that she was good for nothing and was useless, but at the same time, she couldn’t deny that he was right about everything.
“Come on, we have to go into the footwear section now,” Calvin said, dragging her from there. “You might be thinking that I’m insulting you by showing you your place, but there is nothing wrong in accepting what you’re. And to be honest, you have done nothing in front of my eyes to earn my respect. Any achievements? Nope. Not at all.”
“I know how you are feeling now because my father showed me the same mirror when I didn’t want to keep Rose with me,” Calvin said, to which Ethlyn looked at him, getting surprised because it didn’t look like Calvin was raising Roselet as a burden. “I didn’t want to keep Rose with me; instead, I suggested them to raise her, and that was when dad showed me my real place. If I wouldn’t have raised Rose, then he would have kicked me out of his will. That was when I realized that I was nothing without dad’s money. NOTHING.”
“And then I decided to reach at least that level where I wouldn’t need his money and financial support to survive, and between all this, I fell in love with Rose madly and unconditionally. I mean, I never hated her before, but later, I just couldn’t stay a day without looking at her pretty face.” He said with a smile.
“There is always someone behind anyone’s success. And I have given that reward to Rose in my life. Because of her, my parents are now proud of me.” Calvin said before continuing, “Everyone has a misconception, especially your parents, that right now we are together and you’re staying with me because my parents paid me a visit, but that’s wrong. My dad can’t threaten or create any kind of pressure on me anymore. That’s the power of standing on your own feet, and that’s why I will suggest you to start your studies. It’s never too late to start something new.”
“You want to learn household work. Go ahead, learn that but what next?” Calvin questioned.
“If your father didn’t threaten you or create any kind of pressure on you, then why are you letting me stay near Rose?” Ethlyn asked because she had a misunderstanding that Calvin’s parents forced him to let her near Roselet, but if that wasn’t the case, then why was he doing a favor to her?
“Out of everything, you heard only that part?” Calvin hissed in annoyance. He had given the biggest lecture of his life, and the woman with him just ignored it, seriously?
“Alpha Calvin, that’s not the answer to my question.” Ethlyn pointed out. “I have observed that you’re blunt and use no filter while speaking, so please tell me the truth.”Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
