Chapter 135 I Am Here
Chapter 135 I Am Here
"Don't hang up the phone. I'll talk to you, okay?"
The car in front of him moved very slowly. He supposed that the driver was green. William turned sharp
around and drove along the other side of the road.
For him, Jane was more important than the traffic rules. Jane was afraid and still waiting for him.
"I'll be right there. Very quickly."
There was heavy traffic on the roads in City J. William drove one a path and overtook all the way.
"Can you hear me?"
"Is the battery power of your phone enough?"
William, who was not talkative, asked continuously.
"I can hear you."
Jane's hands trembled. She needed to calm down now.
She came here while she was kidnapped. She was thinking hard about it, and it covered her fear.
After so many accidents, Jane was afraid of feeling helpless.
It was dark and there were no streetlights around, not even a car passing by.
Jane wanted to drive away, but the car suddenly broke down. She hit the steering wheel and became
more anxious.
"Janie, don't move. Wait for me."
William's voice sounded through the phone. It was low, but it had a sedative effect.
No matter who was behind it, he would never let his family get hurt.
This was the first and last time that Jane was hurt.
William was not good at saying words of love. He could only tell Jane over and over again that he was
here.
"I'm here. I'm coming to you."
"It's dark, but don't be afraid."
"Janie."
Jane did not speak. William suddenly realized that his mouth was dry and he was thirsty.
For the first time, William felt that the ride was so long from the city to the suburbs.
His wife was waiting for him to take her home.
"OK, I'll wait for you."
Jane closed her eyes to calm herself down.
She told herself that there was nothing unchangeable. Although there were many difficulties, her fate
was still in her hands.
Jane was not a coward. She would accept and try bravely. Besides, she still had to protect Dayton.
It was cloudy and it got dark within an hour.
The cold wind was howling and it sounded terrifying on a desolate mountain road.
Jane put her arms around her shoulders and shrank in the car, motionless.
In the distance, a car was coming at high speed. The high beams were on, particularly dazzling.
Jane blocked the strong light with her hand and looked forward with narrowed eyes. It was a black
Maybach, one of William's cars.
"Janie!"
William braked hard, opened the car door, and carried Jane out of the car in his arms.
"Don't worry. I'm here." This content is © NôvelDrama.Org.
They embraced in the strong cold wind on the dark road.
"Thank you."
Jane felt relieved in William's warm arms.
She was afraid, frightened, and bewildered. But he instantly appeared, driving away all those bad
feelings.
One hour ago, Lucas called and wanted to meet her.
But he was suddenly dead.
It was not an accident. It was murder!
The person behind it was afraid that Lucas would be rescued, so he created another accident to ensure
that Lucas would not be alive.
A dead person could never speak. He would keep the secret.
"Don't be afraid. I'm here."
William stiffened. He was still not used to being hugged, but if it was Jane, he would not refuse.
"William, I'm not timid. But can you imagine that someone who was still alive hours ago was murdered
twice in a short time?"
Jane tried her best to control herself, but she could not help but speak in a sharp voice.
Falling from a building and a car crash both seemed like accidents.
But she knew that they were not.
"Lucas must know the secret of the one behind, so he was killed!"
What a big game! And Jane was a pawn in the game.
"I've called the insurance company. Just leave the car here. Let's pick up Dayton and have dinner first."
William's face turned cold. That person had been hiding in the dark for a long time. William had been
waiting for his next step.
However, he did nothing else but dealt with the aftermath of the previous event.
It could not be perfectly done by a single person. Perhaps there was an organization behind it.
"I've lost my appetite."
Jane looked pale. The past one hour waiting for William was the toughest time for her.
She was afraid that someone would rush out and kill her.
"Darling, I want to go home."
Jane sat in the passenger seat and looked at William pleadingly, hoping that he would agree.
For frightened people, the home was the best place to go.
"Okay, let's go home."
Before William started the car, he turned around and touched Jane's hair, comforting her like playing
with a kitten.
For him, Jane was now like a frightened and upset kitten.
On the way, William turned on the warm air and played soft music.
Jane gradually felt relaxed and safe, and finally fell asleep.
When they arrived at the Duncan Group, it was already past work hours.
Frederic was exhausted. William was absent and he needed to handle everything. While he was busy,
he had to deal with Dayton.
"Uncle Frederic, my daddy and mommy are here to pick me up. Bye."
Dayton waved at Frederic and left happily.
"Alright, Dayton. Bye."
Frederic heaved a sigh of relief. It was so tiring to take care of a child! He was not so eager to have a
baby now.
"Daddy!"
Dayton ran forward, grabbed William's hand and looked for Jane.
"Your mommy is tired and sleeping in the car."
William signaled him to be quiet and said, "Don't wake your mommy up in the car later."
"Daddy, I know!"
Dayton obediently got in the car and covered his mouth with his hands, afraid that he would wake up
Jane by greeting her.
They went to the popular restaurant to pack dishes before going home. Jane woke up as they arrived.
She slept soundly and her fear disappeared, and she had come to herself.
"Mommy, you are awake. You have slept for a long time!"
Dayton went over and hugged Jane. He felt her face hot.
"Yes, mommy is very tired."
She was not only tired but also hungry. Jane's stomach rumbled.
"I intended to take you to a restaurant. But I have packed some food. It's still warm. Let's eat first."
William had Jane take a rest. He put the boxes on the table and placed the tableware.
"Dayton, wash your hands before eating with mommy!"
The bad moods should not be shown home, especially in front of Dayton. Jane gave a gentle smile
again and even played with Dayton as they were washing their hands.
William paused and shook his head.
He could not understand her sometimes, but he had been deeply into her.
No matter if she was the previous Jane or not, she was his wife, and now, he did not want to let her go.
He had given her a chance and filed for divorce, but Jane was reluctant. Now, he would not allow her to
leave him.
