Chapter 163 Generosity
Chapter 163 Generosity
Colin was even more surprised. He had only been in a coma for one month. How many things had
happened during this period?
He asked Lainey, and she said that the couple had broken the ice and now deeply adored each other.
Colin had learnt no details, nor could he see it with his own eyes for now.
"Well, in the new year, you should arrange for Robert. He was above thirty now, right?"
Colin first met Robert in a charity project. He had been lively and cheerful since he was a child, without
the bitterness of other orphans.
His sister, Elyse, was smarter. Both kids are good-natured.
Although they were not his grandchildren, Colin was very concerned about them.
"He is of the same age as me."
William looked down and suddenly realized that he was ahead of his peers.
He had married and had a child, and a second child was being expected, while Andrew was not
married, and Robert was still single.
His assistant, Frederic, was the same.
"Is there any female assistant in your company? You can be a matchmaker."
Colin said with a smile.
"No."
William was about to refuse when he received a call from Robert.
He thought it over and changed his mind. Maybe matchmaking could be the seasoning of his tedious
work. After all, he loved to see others troubled by such things.
"Grandpa, leave it to me. I'll introduce to him suitable young ladies."
Jane voluntarily took the task as William made no response.
William was frigid by nature. It was indeed difficult for him to be a matchmaker.
Colin exited the video call and got through to Robert's.
"William, have you and Jane arrived home?"
On the other side of the line, Robert was in the office, wearing a white coat and a stethoscope. He
looked quite gentle.
"Yes, I just talked to grandfather on the phone. He would returned earlier next year once his condition
stabilized."
William was still silent, therefore, Jane answered for him.
The house had not been lively for a long time. In order to celebrate Colin's recovery, she was going to
hold a dinner party on January 15th.
"Bring Elyse with you. If you have a girlfriend, you can bring her back, too. Grandpa is concerned about
your marriage."
Robert was acid and indolent, but always reliable in business.
A girlfriend?
Robert closed his eyes and Pearl's face appeared in his mind. He hastily shook his head to dispel her
image. Why was he thinking about that woman at this moment?
Perhaps he had been too busy recently and Pearl was the only female close to him.
It was merely a hallucination, because they met too often. It could not be more than that.
"You didn't elaborate on what happened last time. Why do power outages happen so often in the
International Mansion?"
Jane thought of her experience of being trapped in the elevator for all night and grumbled about the
management of the community.
She asked William if they could move out of the department to a detached villa after they return.
"Okay, there are too many irrelevant strangers in the apartment."
William stressed on "irrelevant stranger", alluding to Randy.
As Randy also lived in the community, he would come across Jane sooner or later.
He had to prevent that from happening.
He did not mind Jane's past. It was his fault not having come to her earlier. But from the moment he
really owned her, he decided that he would never let her go.
Therefore, he had to stifle every threat to their marriage in the cradle.
"Robert, I'll give you the suite in the International Mansion."
The apartment was vacant now. William gave away tens of millions worth of real state in one word.
Jane had no objections.
They had many properties. And Robert was a friend of years. They know each other well. It's no big
deal to give him a house.
"There are only a few suits of William's left in the room. You can move in as soon as you pack up."
Not only did Jane show not object, she added in approval.
"William, Jane, you are too generous. Is this my New Year's gift?"
The Duncans was rich, but tens of millions was still not a small sum. Many people could not earn that
much money after a lifetime's hard work.
William treated him as a brother, and Robert was grateful. He would remember this in heart rather than
speak out.
He worked in a private hospital and was well-paid. He did not lack money.
"William, Jane, I will spare the formality with you. I will move into the apartment."
After a thought, Robert did not hesitate to accept their gift.
"This time, I called to talk about Pearl." Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
Although Robert called William, he actually wanted to talk to Jane, "Jane, I heard that you and Pearl
used to be classmates. How much do you know about her?"
"I don't know much. She dropped out in the middle."
Pearl had not left a deep impression on the female lead. Her knowledge of their past mainly came from
Pearl's narration.
"She has serious depression, and had not truly recovered yet."
Robert said solemnly. Through Pearl's recent abnormal behavior, he had found some clues and hoped
to talk to Jane.
"But she looks already normal."
Jane was confused. When she was with Pearl, Pearl was very nice to her, and she could talk about the
past frankly.
She didn't avoid the past, it should be a sign of letting it go.
"Jane, listen to me. Please be mentally prepared."
Robert took a deep breath, not knowing where to start.
"Let's start from a few days ago."
Robert took out a transparent plastic bag from his pocket and drew out a dark red paper.
"Blood for blood?"
When Jane saw the words, her pupils dilated.
"Relax."
William gave Robert a warning look when he saw that Jane was frightened.
He should be more careful to his words.
Robert shivered. It was not his intention. But how could he hold back on this matter?
William was simply doted on Jane. Robert had only taken out the paper. He was a little overreaction
before Robert could say something.
"William, I must talk about this."
Robert was grieved. Would William take back the suite because of his offence?
"It has something to do with Jane. I hope she is mentally prepared."
Robert asked for the William's assent without looking at Jane.
How possessive was William? His sister, Elyse, had gave him an inkling. William would even conceal
the poster of Jane's from everyone else.
It was only Jane who could really endure him.
"It has something to do with me?"
Jane blinked, confused. She didn't understand the connection.
"The words were written with blood, right? Who wrote it?"
Robert called at this time before the new year's eve, he must have something important to talk to.
"Let's keep it in suspense first."
A few days ago, there was a blackout at the International Residences. Pearl received a box of cats and
dogs, all dismembered alive.
"Who did it?"
The method was cruel and vicious. But because it was not a human that had been killed, the killer
would not be punished by law.
"I asked Pearl. She said she could not think of any enemy."
During her years being abroad, Pearl had been receiving psychological treatment intermittently.
It was impossible for her to offend anyone.
