Chapter 266 A Goddess
Chapter 266 A Goddess
William nodded to Robert and examined Pearl. She was normal. As Robert said, the RS virus did not
cause her any harm.
"We may talk later. Let's go right now."
Only on rainy days could the security net on the high walls not work. Therefore, they had to leave here
as soon as possible. Otherwise, after the rain stopped, the alarm system would take effect and they
could not find a better way to leave.
Pearl said, "I know. We have nothing to take away with me."
Everything here was not worth remembering. She glanced at the room. Fortunately, she had Robert to
accompany her in the most painful period. Otherwise, she would have collapsed.
With hope in her heart, Pearl took a deep breath, put on a raincoat, and nodded to William, "We can
leave now."
"Very good. They are still waiting to receive us."
In a few words, William made arrangements. He let Robert and Pearl follow him. They bypassed the
surveillance camera and went straight to the wall.
On a rainy day, there was no one outside and the rope was still in place. William whistled. Soon,
Frederic responded outside the wall, indicating that everything was safe.
"Pearl, you leave first, and then Robert."
The most important thing right now was to leave as soon as possible. Pearl nodded and grabbed the
rope to climb up. After a few minutes, she landed safely. Robert was more flexible, and William did not
use the rope at all. They left the Quarantine Zone as quickly as possible.
Frederic looked at them and he became more envious.
He admitted that he was not as strong as Robert. But he did not understand why Pearl, as a woman,
was fast than him.
Frederic asked, "This is a mountainous area. It is steep. We are still a distance away from the foot of
the mountain. Can you do it?"
He looked at Robert and Pearl and he was not sure that if they could do it. They had been locked up for
more than a month, and lost a lot of weight with their faces a little haggard, but seemed to be in good
spirits, which was much better than what he had expected.
"Yes, we can."
Robert held Pearl's hand and said determinedly. It was not easy to get out of the Quarantine Zone.
They had to leave as soon as possible. The sooner they left, the safer it would be.
Once they were discovered to have escaped, it would be troublesome.
Currently, they could hide for a few days.
"If you can't do it, don't force yourself. We can carry you on our backs for a while."
William nodded and led the way in front. The visibility was low on rainy days and it was dark. William
was holding a compass for distinguishing directions. Along the way, there were also marks they made.
The road down the mountain took nearly two hours.
Jane sat in the car, sleepy. It was not that she did not concentrate, but she was pregnant, the burden
on her body became heavier. She ate a loaf of bread to satisfy her hunger.
Someone knocked on the car window.
Jane woke up and felt much better. She only realized where she was in the car when she heard
someone knock on the car window.
"It seems you made it. Get in the car quickly!"
Jane opened the car door, and Robert and Pearl sat in the back row. The car started, and they could
not believe that after a month of dark life, they could see their old friend. Pearl cried with joy.
"Janie, nice to see you again!"
Pearl had been trying not to cry, but at this moment, she could no longer hold back her tears.
"It's good that you're fine. Let's go home."
Jane gave them towels and asked them to wipe the rain on their faces before calling Elyse to leave as
soon as possible.
It was already dark.
The wind was raging, and the branches were blown to pieces. On the way back, they encountered
several trees that were blown down to block the way, and they needed to clean up them to get past. Belongs to © n0velDrama.Org.
"Why didn't William drive his off-road vehicle with good performance when he came out?"
After leaving the Quarantine Zone, Robert seemed to have come back to life. Although he was not
infected, he lived in a dark environment for a long time and it affected his mood.
Fortunately, he was a doctor and would occasionally provide psychological counseling for himself and
Pearl. Otherwise, he might have gone crazy.
"Do you think you're driving a tank? It's such a big tree. We can't go if we don't move it away."
William and Frederic went up and down a few times, and their clothes were soaked in the rain, making
them look particularly miserable.
Jane rolled her eyes at Robert. Seeing that he was still having the mood to be picky, she felt relieved.
"Are you hungry? There shouldn't be anything delicious in the Quarantine Zone, right?"
Jane sat in the front passenger seat. William was driving. She took out yogurt and bread and handed
them to the back row. "I didn't buy much on the road. Let's go home. Lainey is preparing food."
Robert snatched them over and handed them over to Pearl to pick out the bread. There were several
flavors.
When Frederic saw this, he let Pearl choose first.
"I want the blueberry flavor."
Pearl said and quickly opened the packaging.
If it was a while ago, she would not have eaten this. Now she took a bite, and the taste of blueberry jam
filled the tip of her tongue. She thought she had never eaten such delicious bread.
It was sweet, fragrant, and soft.
There was no good food in the Quarantine Zone. Robert did not bring many ingredients. They ate them
up after a few meals.
Fortunately, Robert brought a lot of instant noodles, sour spicy fans, and pickles, and they ate them.
The Quarantine Zone provided two meals a day, which were steamed buns and bread rolls. They
tasted hard and dry, and some of them had black little molds.
"Before we came out, we only ate one steamed bread roll."
The instant noodles he brought were also eaten up, leaving only pickles. They ate pickles with steamed
bread rolls to replenish their strength.
Robert took the bread and ate fast.
He even thought that the end of the world would only be like so.
"Jane, I suspect that you are not human."
Robert said mysteriously.
William made a sharp turn and Robert knocked his head against the car door. He shouted.
Pearl glared at Robert, thinking that he was cursing.
"William, what I mean is, Jane, is the goddess who saves the people from the trouble!"
After eating, Robert explained. William's car finally became normal.
Jane thought that what Robert said made sense. Otherwise, she would not be the only one with
antibodies. Pearl also had antibodies.
As long as the medicine was made, the RS virus would not be so horrifying. It was just like an ordinary
cold, which was quickly solved.
"Is that place terrifying?"
There was no mention of the Quarantine Zone online or on the TV. Even the guards at the door were
scary. Every time they went to deliver food and water, they had to be fully armed and equipped.
Besides waiting for death, what else could the infected do?
Frederic didn't want to ask, but he was too curious.
There was silence in the car.
Robert gave a bitter smile. Before he had gone, he also felt that there should not be so horrifying.
In the hospital that Robert worked, there were too many patients in the terminal stage, they just showed
fear of death, yearning for life, and rarely had extreme behaviors.
But when he arrived at the Quarantine Zone, he realized his thoughts were childish and ridiculous.
People who had seen the light might not understand what darkness was.
"Every day to night, people are laughing crazily."
Pearl shivered, refusing to recall the memory.
It was fine to be locked up at the beginning, but a few days later, after the virus mutated, people also
changed.
Because there were no stewards in the Quarantine Zone, everyone could enter and exit freely.
The crazy infected people often hurt people with knives.
Some cried, some sighed at the injustice, and in the end, some laughed. All of them were crazy.
That kind of laughter was the most unpleasant one that Pearl had ever heard in her life. It was so sharp
that it was as piercing as a fingernail scratching glass.
