To Be Yours Again By Taylor Chapter 77
Chapter 77 He Shouldn't Be Apologizing to Me
Alec struck Yvonne as unfamiliar. Two years away from home, and she felt like she had left for a decade. She could barely recognize the man in front of her.
"I'll have him apologize to you in person and promise you that he wouldn't do it again," she offered out of desperation when she realized Alec would not let this slip. Still, he refused to accept the suggestion and said, "He shouldn't be apologizing to me."
Her expression froze in disbelief. "You're telling him to apologize to that woman?"
"Shouldn't it be so?" he questioned with a cold expression and frosty tone. Yvonne thought Jenny was undeserving of such treatment and almost blurted out her thoughts, but she caught herself on time. Whatever was in Alec's mind, he clearly cared about the woman at this moment, and she couldn't get on his bad side.
A short silence later, she nodded. "He should. I'll get him to come over for an apology. But what about her..."Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g
"I'll relay it to her. It's up to her whether or not to accept the apology." Alec made a call to Jenny on the spot.
"Who is she to refuse the apology?" Yvonne thought as she burned in anger, but she had to keep her cool in front of Alec. Nevertheless, she started resenting Jenny because of this.
After lunch with Gilbert and Zack, Jenny returned to the hospital. She got the call when she was pouring over the medical history of her patients scheduled for surgery tomorrow.
"You're telling me that Steven Dickman will apologize to me in person?" she flashed a half-smile as she pictured Steven's disgusting expression. She found it hard to believe.
"Yes, but you have the right to refuse," he added, not wanting to force her to accept the apology. She gave it some thought and said, "It seems like someone from the Dickmans came to persuade you. You wouldn't have called."
Alec took a good look at Yvonne sitting across from him.
"Mhmm," he grunted as a sign of admission.
"The Dickmans' share price... Was that your doing?" she questioned. He nodded, surprised that she'd guess that. "Yes."
"Why? I thought you were family friends with the Dickmans." She was perplexed by how he went out of his way for her. As far as she knew, their relationship was not at that level.
Alec had wanted to ask himself the same question, one he had no answer for.
After a long silence, he blurted out, "I did you wrong on Faye's matter, and I wanted to make it up to you."
Speechless, she reminded him, "That's unnecessary. For me, it's an eye for an eye. I appreciate that you dealt with the Dickmans on my behalf, but I won't write off the fact that you let Faye escape."
"I know," he admitted without surprise, knowing that Jenny was stubborn about her likes and dislikes. What surprised him, though, was her next words. "Okay. Now, give me the address," she agreed.
Alec had thought she would refuse to accept the apology and said, "You don't have to do it for me..."
"You're thinking too much. I just feel like meeting Steven Dickman." She wanted to take the opportunity to mess with Steven, even if she could not take down his family.
After the call, Alec felt very conflicted. "She agreed, and she'd be here soon."
"Cool. Steven's heading over too." Yvonne was smiling, but her mood was down. She had observed Alec's phone conversation with Jenny, during which he displayed a previously unknown side of himself—gentle, and even a little humbled.
"Alec, what's your relationship with... that woman?" she couldn't help but question. She had no regard for Jenny until she saw how Alec treated her, which made her worry.
