Chapter 121 Don’t Hate Her
Caroline heard a thud, and a muffled grunt escaped her as she felt the pain.
Lying in her arms, Axel tensed and looked up, startled by the unusual noise.
In disbelief, he gazed at Caroline.
Caroline cradled Axel with one arm and soothed her painful lower back with the other.
After ensuring Axel wasn’t injured, she asked, “Are you alright, boy?”
Axel’s mind raced, but his body remained immobile.
Caroline’s unique scent eased the uneasiness in his chest, and he found her touch acceptable, unlike others.
Not only that, she had checked on him after her fall.
Puzzled, Caroline looked at him. “Boy, are you in pain?”
Axel’s eyes turned cold, and he quickly got up on his feet. Lowering his head and tightly pursing his lips, he muttered a barely discernible “thank you“.
Then, he turned around and ran away without another word.
Caroline stood up with a frown, sensing something unusual about the child’s personality.
As she pondered this, a familiar voice echoed from downstairs. “Mr. Jordan Jr. Mr. Jordan sent me
to ask you if you like the place here.”
The voice took Caroline aback, and she discreetly leaned over to co
a glimpse of Reuben.
Soon after, her eyes fell upon a man dressed in a black suit, possessing striking facial features that exuded inherent elegance.
He entered the academic building with an irresistible dignity, causing Caroline’s chest to tighten
at the sight of him.
Hastily, she stopped leaning over and positioned herself close to the wall, lost in memories that
spanned five years.
She vividly recalled how she had endured hardships in prison due to Evan. Assigned to the filthiest and most exhausting tasks, she even had her food stolen by others.
Naively, she had believed that Evan would struggle to part with her, but her hopeful illusions were shattered when he proved otherwise.
Evan approached Axel and asked in a deep voice, “Do you like it?”
Axel remained silent, but his glistening dark eyes betrayed his captivation with someone on the
stairway.
Puzzled, Evan followed Axel’s gaze, but he couldn’t spot anyone there.
“What are you looking at?” Evan narrowed his eyes.
Axel shook his head without uttering a word.
Evan asked, “Axel, what are you avoiding?”
Axel kept quiet for a moment. “Nothing.”
“You shall go to school here starting the day after tomorrow,” said Evan authoritatively.
Axel lowered his head even more.
Caroline sneered after overhearing the conversation, thinking, ‘Why is he communicating with a child in such a domineering way?‘
Caroline assumed Axel’s personality was attributed to the lack of parental affection.

At three in the afternoon, Caroline drove back to Bayview Villa.
As soon as she arrived home, her phone rang. She picked up the call with a smile upon realizing it
was Paige.
“Caroline!” Paige’s voice came through loudly. “You’re heartless for forgetting me as soon as you’re
back.”
Caroline pulled the phone away from her ear due to the loudness.
