Chapter 93 Futile Effort

Paige remained silent for a moment on the other end of the phone. “Caroline…”

A sinking feeling settled in Caroline’s heart. She blinked back tears and urged, “Please continue.”

“She had downloaded some kind of app on her phone that automatically deletes all calls and messages immediately after they are made or sent. There’s nothing suspicious in her current bank transfer records. Nothing aligns with our suspicions. I suspect she didn’t use her card for the transfer…”

Caroline initially registered Paige’s words, but soon her comprehension faltered.

‘How did it come to this… The evidence to expose Daniella is right in front of me, yet I didn’t anticipate it would be futile. I’ve only managed to entangle myself in this mess.‘

“Carol…” Paige’s voice came through in a worried whisper.

With a determined effort, Caroline steadied her voice. “Thank you, Paige. I’ll end the call now.”

Paige sighed in response. “Alright, don’t worry. I’ll keep brainstorming ideas to help you.”

Caroline ended the call and rested her forehead on her knees. Tremors wracked her body as she/ wept.

‘What can I do to punish the villain?‘

Meanwhile, Evan received a call from Reuben in his study. “Mr. Jordan, our team traced the IP address of that individual. By the time they arrived, the person had already fled.”

Silence enveloped Evan as he rhythmically tapped his fingers on the table.

Reuben continued, “Mr. Jordan, the person covered their tracks well. I believe it might be the same person who harmed Ms. Shenton previously. Additionally, Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.

Evan’s gaze grew intense.

“Got it. What about the background investigation on Chloe?”

Reuben replied, “I apologize, Mr. Jordan. We’re still conducting the investigation.”

Evan said, “Go and look into the information of the teachers from the year Caroline was adopted. Ask them if they have any impression of the girl with a red cinnabar mole on her earlobe.”

“Alright, Mr. Jordan,” Reuben acknowledged before ending the call.

After returning to International Residence, Daniella unleashed her anger by smashing various

objects in her room.

Why did he let Caroline stay in Villa Rosa? Why was she the one driven out instead? Was he

treating her this way because of a mere housemaid? She couldn’t understand his actions at all.

‘Since he could be so heartless to me, I’m going to suppress him with my identity as a Xander!‘

Caroline fumed. 1

Lost in her thoughts, her phone suddenly rang.

Daniella hastily grabbed her phone and, upon seeing the caller ID, answered immediately.

“Grandpa…” Grayson heard the strain in Daniella’s voice and quickly inquired, “Ella, what’s wrong? Who has hurt you?”

Daniella was about to explain when she was suddenly struck by a sharp pain in her abdomen.

She lowered her head and saw blood staining the floor. Her face turned pale, and she cried out, Grandpa, I’m bleeding. My baby…”

Anxious, Grayson responded, “Ella, don’t panic. I will call 911 for you right away. Just wait for me. I’m coming.”

Half an hour later, Daniella found herself lying in a hospital ward, an IV drip attached to the back

of her hand.

Grayson arrived at the hospital with Neil in tow.

Upon seeing Daniella alone in the ward, his expression darkened imely

“Ella, why isn’t Evan with you?”

Through her weak sobs, Daniella replied, “Grandpa, Evan is busy. I didn’t want to bother him.”
