Chapter 142 Are You Sure She's a Strange Lady
Chapter 142 Are You Sure She's a Strange Lady
Ella staggered out of the villa. However, when she walked down the steps, her legs gave in and she fell
on her knees.
Ouch! She was in pain but Ella suppressed a scream. She managed to stand up, supporting herself
with her arms and palms on the ground.
Dawn was approaching. Ella covered her body with Samuel's suit jacket and walked to the gate.
After cursing at Samuel numerous times, Ella remembered that his phone was still in the jacket's
pocket.
Her hands groped around the suit, made from expensive fabrics, and felt the phone in the right side of
the jacket.
She switched it on and called Eden. She could recall his number from memory.
Eden was sleeping soundly. When he heard the phone ring, he cursed. Whoever called him now was
definitely a masochist, he thought. "Who is it? Who is calling at this ungodly hour?" Eden shouted
through the phone, almost deafening Ella in the process.
"Calm down. It's me. Come and pick me up."
Hearing Ella's voice, Eden was puzzled for a while: "Ella?" He looked at the strange phone number
consisting of consecutive similar numbers, a symbol of power and richness in C Country, and
wondered. When did Ella change her number?
"It's me. If you don't show up in half an hour, I'll be on the front-page headline news." She yelled.
Damned Samuel. Ella made up her mind to take her revenge and let Samuel taste the shame he had
brought to her.
Ella rubbed her aching mouth and walked for twenty minutes. She needed to get home soon.
Eden arrived at the gate of The Royal Mansion in a car, thirty minutes later.
Although there was no-one on the road, Ella didn't dare to stand there without disguise. She hid herself
in the tall grass.
Seeing Eden, she sprang out from her hiding place surrounded by tall grass.
Ella's hair was a mess. She was draped in a man's suit jacket and her skirt was quite wrinkled. Seeing
her emerge, Eden couldn't help but assume the worst.
"Stop thinking about nonsense. Take me home now." Looking at Eden's expression, Ella was quite
embarrassed. Covering her face with the suit jacket, Ella walked to Eden's car.
What a shame!
Ella ignored all of Eden's questions on their way home. "Ask for leave for me this morning. Just say I'm
sick and won't be going in today."
Arriving at her apartment, the nurse opened the door for her. Ella proceeded straight to her room, and
found Jane was sleeping soundly in her big bed.
Ella kissed her daughter on the forehead and then went to take a shower.
After the shower, she threw Samuel's suit jacket in the trash can, switched off his phone and put it on
the night table.
Then, she fell asleep soundly with her daughter in her arms.
Ella didn't wake up until five o'clock in the afternoon. She was awakened by the sounds of Jane and
Jerry playing with each other.
She looked at the time and shot out of bed.
With her hair a mess, Ella opened her bedroom door.
Jerry had come to her apartment with Melody after school. When they saw Ella emerge, the two
children rushed towards their mother.
Ella squatted and hugged her children, happiness filling her heart.
"Why don't you sleep some more? Did their noise disturb you?" Melody voiced her concern. She had
heard from the nurse that Ella had came back home in the morning, so she thought that Ella worked on
the filming set, the whole night.
"I've had enough sleep, grandma. Jerry, you play with your little sister for a while and I'll go to take a
bath, okay?" Jerry and Jane ran to the living room to play and Ella retreated back to the bedroom
again.
She glanced at Samuel's phone and switched it on, subconsciously.
Numerous text messages indicating missed calls appeared on the screen immediately. One was from
Yang and it read; Send my phone back before six pm or else...
Judging from the tone, Ella knew the message was from Samuel.
Six pm? It was already half past five and Ella needed to take a bath. It would be impossible for her to
send the phone back in half an hour.
She decided not to think about it anymore, threw the phone on the bed and went into the bathroom.
She turned on the tap and began washing herself, without noticing the phone had been ringing for a
long time.
Hearing the phone ringing, Melody went into the bedroom and found a black phone on the bed ringing
incessantly.
She picked it up and noticed it was Yang.
However, she also found the phone quite familiar.
It kept ringing. Melody had no choice but to answer it: "Hello, Ella is in the bathroom. If you would like
to leave a message, I'll let her know and she'll call you back later."
"Grandma?"
This word shocked Melody and she almost threw the phone away.
How could that be her grandson?
However, Jane's arrival made the situation even worse. "Great grandma, who is it?" The little girl's soft
voice reached Samuel's ears and touched and melted his heart.
Why was Ella with grandma? Why was there a little girl with grandma?
Melody, on the other side, was so flurried that she immediately covered Jane's mouth while Samuel
was calling her on the other end of the phone.
She hung up the phone immediatly. Soon after, the phone started ringing again.
It continued to ring for several minutes later and then stopped.
Melody relieved and went back to the living room. However, the phone, which was on the living room
desk, rung.
Before Melody said anything, Jerry picked up the phone and said: "Hello. What can I help you? Why
are you looking for my great grandmother?"
"Jerry, this is your father. Where are you now?" Samuel asked.
Jerry answered, using his old excuse calmly: "I'm playing with my great grandmother."
"Where are you playing?" Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.
"Outside."
"Where?" He showed his determination to get to the bottom of the matter.
Jerry thought for a little. "The amusement park. I'm playing with a little girl."
There was a short silence on the other side of the phone. Samuel then said: "How could your great
grandmother answer my phone then?"
Ella did have his phone, that he was sure about. Could it be that they were together now?
"Daddy, a strange lady gave your phone to great grandma this morning." Although Jerry was not yet 5
years old, his IQ was much higher than that of his peers. Therefore, he had fast reactions and could tell
lies without thinking.
A strange lady? Samuel sneered: "Jerry, are you sure she's a strange lady?" Samuel was distracted by
Jerry's pretending not to know Ella.
Don't think I didn't see you and Ella's picture last time. I will get even with Ella for this sooner or later.
Samuel's thoughts remained unvoiced.
However, thinking about Ella's "service" last night, Samuel was quite satisfied.
He had dismissed her harshly but deliberately, for the sake of polishing and smoothening her pride and
rebellious nature.
"Samuel, do you want to talk to great grandma?" Jerry was smart and chose not to answer Samuel's
question. He decided to ask an adult to deal with this tough situation.
Samuel didn't care that his son had called him by his first name.
"No. I'll come to the old house and get my phone tonight." After saying this, Samuel suddenly realised
that he seemed to ignore something important just now.
"Bye, Daddy Samuel." Jerry hang up the phone immediately. Then, he saw Melody giving him a
thumbs up while covering Jane's mouth.
"Well done, Jerry!" He could fool his father when he was five. Such talents would make him a better
lawyer than his father.
Jerry sunk into the sofa, his heart fluttering with fear. In fact, he was afraid of his father. If Samuel was
there and stared at his eyes, he wouldn't have said a word.
