Chapter 2141
Chapter 2141
Gary looked at the phone expressionlessly and said, "I have already settled my own matters. You don't have to worry about it."
Heinz didn't expect that Gary would be so against him going to look for Celeste, he was stunned for a bit. "You just left a girl all alone in a place she is not familiar, without getting even a bodyguard to be by her side. Is that how you settle it?"
"You're admitting that you went to look for Celeste, aren't you?" Gary asked in reply.
Heinz was dumbfounded. He didn't expect that he would still fall into his own son's trap despite himself being so careful.
Of course he was still going to deny it.
"Why would I go look for her?" Heinz denied. "I didn't like to see you both being together to begin with, so this is definitely the best for me."
Gary paused for a bit and pursed his lips. "Then, you should hurry and come back for dinner."
"I've told you, your mom knows that something came up in the company." Heinz continued.
Gary looked at his mother and said to his father on the phone, "I know that it was mom who asked you to do this. You are in a difficult situation as well. Mom is here, and I will talk to her about it. You should come back right now."
"You rascal, do you think I'm someone you can casually order around?" Heinz wasn't sure if he should laugh or cry as he scolded him. "I've told you already. I have something to do, I will be going back late."
After that, he simply hung up the phone.
He did not want to be nagged on by his son again.
Gary was indeed really sharp. He actually guessed that he would go look for Celeste. How on earth did he actually find out about it?
Heinz frowned. It seemed that the children were not used to him not being there, since he had always been at home during the festive seasons.
He smiled bitterly. Fortunately, the children were more worried about their mother, and they would not actually make Grace mad.
He still had to continue on with his journey.
"Clinton, is Celeste still staying in that hotel?"
"Yes, President," Clinton said, "Miss White didn't leave after returning to the hotel this afternoon."
"That's good." Heinz looked at his watch. It was already 7:30 p.m.
As they were talking, Clinton's phone rang.
Clinton immediately picked up the phone and soon hung up the phone to report to Heinz, "President, the men said that Miss White is leaving the hotel now."
"Did she leave the hotel?" Heinz was stunned. "Why did she leave the hotel so late at night?"
Clinton replied, "They said that Miss White has just checked out of the room. She is probably waiting for a cab at the hotel entrance now. We should continue keeping an eye on her in case we might lose her again."
"Very well." Heinz was also a little surprised. Why on earth did that child Celeste check out of the hotel room so late at night?
It was already lonely enough for her to be celebrating alone during Spring Festival Eve, yet she was still going to leave the hotel then.
Looking at the stars glimmering out there, Heinz suddenly felt that Celeste was really a pitiful child.
She was alone and had no one to rely on. The problems about her personality were showing obviously.
He sighed. "We should keep in touch with them, don't lose her." "Yes, President." Clinton called again and ordered his men to follow Celeste, telling them to follow her closely and not to lose sight of her.
Their car was speeding up as well. In the dark night, the car had been speeding along the highway.
After Gary hung up the phone, he saw that his mother as well as his other siblings were all looking at him.
He faced his mother's gaze calmly and said, "I know that dad went to look for Celeste."
Grace frowned and said, "Don't think too much. Who would even care about those troubles of yours?"
"I'm not thinking too much." Gary said in a deep voice again, "The only thing that would make dad go out during the night of Spring Festival Eve, and would also receive your approval, is him going to look for Celeste."
Grace had to praise her son's intelligence and sharpness deep down. He was indeed correct. It seemed that it was too obvious that she had always been concerned about her children's matters, that was why they were so confident and could have guessed it.
She naturally wouldn't admit it either.
"Eat your food quickly. You're making me lose my
appetite."
From his mother's words, Gary was even more certain of his own assumption.
Ernest, Sebastian and Sylvia were all looking at Gary, then they looked at Grace again. None of them spoke, nor did they touch their cutleries. After a while, Sylvia only sighed and said, "It would be so nice if Celeste was here with us."
Sebastian looked at Sylvia.
The little girl looked down at the delicious dishes on the table and said, "If everyone would cherish their relationships and their own feelings, appreciate the love that others' give us, how perfect would that be."
Perhaps with that tone, and those particular words, coming from Sylvia, that little devil's mouth, it made everyone's heart feel a little heavy. No one spoke.
Sylvia stood up and said to Grace, "Mommy, can I give Mr. Trevino a gift?"
Grace was dumbfounded for a moment.
She looked at her daughter. She didn't expect her daughter to mention such a thing during dinner.
Lowell was also a little surprised. He looked at his sister and then at Sylvia again.
He didn't know what his sister would think about
However, Grace actually nodded and said, "Sure. Mr. Trevino didn't leave Northern City yet, did he?"
Sylvia shook her head. "No, he said previously that he was going back, but he changed his plans after. I told him before that I would bring him some delicious food during the Spring Festival Eve, and I don't want to go back on my words."
"You should go ahead then." Grace nodded, "Get the driver to send you over."
"Okay." Sylvia stood up, then it was as if she thought about something and said again, "It'll just take a while, I'll be back in no time."
Grace paused for a bit and smiled. "It's fine even if you decide to stay there a little longer."
She had seen Kendrix before, and she knew him quite a bit.
She felt that Kendrix was a person who would know what he was doing.
That was why she was quite reassured.
However, the others were all stunned. No one had expected that Sylvia would mention that during dinner.
Did their mother know what it meant for Sylvia to give Kendrix things under such circumstances?Property © 2024 N0(v)elDrama.Org.
Gary also looked at Grace in confusion.
Grace looked at them and said, "What are you guys looking at? Let's eat."
"Grace!" Lowell had to call out.
She was about to remind Grace about something, however Grace said, "Lowell, I know what you're going to say, but I believe in Sylvia and also Kendrix."
Lowell's mouth was shut up by her words.
He understood Sylvia, and it seemed like Grace too, was aware of the matter. It seemed that she knew a little of it, and she also supported it.
Lowell sighed. It seemed that he still didn't know her own sister well enough.
He didn't expect his sister to be such an open-minded mother.
After hesitating for a while, Gary said to his mother, "I'll go look for dad, you guys should continue on."
After a pause, Grace immediately said, "You don't have to go, just stay here at home."
Gary was also dumbstruck as he looked at his mother.
Grace just looked at him. Gary had
made Celeste to stay out and not wanting to come back the last time, and she didn't want to let him go this time round. She was afraid that he might say some harsh words and further complicate their relationship.
That time, with Heinz showing up, Celeste would probably be understanding and she would probably think about the matter again.
However, if Gary had appeared too soon, it might not be conducive to Celeste's decisions.
So, of course, Grace had to stop it.
She didn't want her son to ruin all their plans.
Gary probably could tell something from his mother's complicated expression. He pursed his lips and finally sat down again.
Seeing that he could control himself, Grace was full of appreciation.
It seemed that the matter had made great progress in making her son calm down.
After that, Grace asked the butler to take some food from the kitchen and prepare them in boxes. There were two big boxes, with four containers of food all for Kendrix.
Sylvia then went off.
After that, Grace continued eating with the children.
When she arrived at the school hostel, Sylvia saw from downstairs that Kendrix's place was still brightly lit.
She knew that he did not leave.
She couldn't tell the feeling she had deep down. She just stared at the room and didn't move for a long time.
The driver reminded her, "Miss Jones, do you need me to carry these things up for you?"
Sylvia looked at the things beside her and she knew she surely couldn't take all those things herself.
She nodded and said, "Help me carry them up, please."
She then got off the car too.
The driver followed her upstairs.
At Kendrix's door.
Sylvia said, "You can just leave the things here at the door first and go downstairs. I will go down in about five minutes."
The driver followed her instructions and placed the food containers at the side of the door to make sure
that he would not bump into them when opening the door. Only then did he go downstairs.
Sylvia then knocked on the door.
After a while, the door opened.
Kendrix appeared at the door. When he saw Sylvia, he seemed to be stunned for a moment. He probably didn't expect that she would come.
Sylvia smiled faintly, and a beautiful smile appeared between her lovely cheeks.
She said, "Hi, Mr. Trevino. Happy Spring Festival. I'm here to pay you my greetings."
After a slight pause, Kendrix also came to his senses with sparkle in his deep eyes.
He nodded slightly and looked up and down at Sylvia. Then he said, "Happy Spring Festival, Sylvia."
His response was a lot warmer than what she had expected, and at least he wasn't cold when she greeted him.
Sylvia's uneasy heart felt a little relieved. She smiled and said, "I kept my promise. I promised to bring you something good, and I've brought it."
Kendrix took a glance at the food containers on the ground.
The two large boxes had four tiers and it looked exquisite.
He gulped slightly and his voice was a little hoarse. "Thank you." "You're welcome." Sylvia smiled. "Take it in yourself. I'll leave first." Kendrix was stunned, as if he didn't expect her to behave so properly.
He wanted to say something, but Sylvia had already turned around and was ready to leave.
"Hold on," Kendrix said.
Sylvia stopped for a bit and turned to look at Kendrix. Her eyes looked right into his deep gaze.
She smiled and asked him, "Is there anything else?"
Kendrix was startled and immediately asked, "Don't you want to come in for a bit?"
Sylvia was also startled as she proceeded to hide the surprise in her eyes. Although she was excited about it, she didn't want to show it.
She shook her head with a smile. "No, it's not too convenient for me. I have to go now."
She actually left right after she finished saying that.
She didn't hesitate at all.
She had changed.
Kendrix felt that Sylvia really had changed.
That change of hers made Kendrix feel that he didn't understand Sylvia anymore.
She was behaving way too well.
