Chapter 2239
Chapter 2239
The situation took Claudia by surprise as it was beyond her expectations.
She hesitated for a moment and nodded. "Okay. I'll go in."
After that, she strode in.
Sebastian was still standing at the door. He did not move away when she entered through the door, and because of that, their shoulders brushed.
He frowned as she said, "I'm sorry for bumping into you. I am just too large for this narrow door."
There was something more to her words as if there was an ocean of emotions, and they were all resentment for him.
His eyes flickered, and he turned to look at her.
Claudia walked in, placed all the food on Sebastian's table, and then looked at his room.
It had been some time since she entered his room, and it was still the same as the last time. There was no big changes.
She knew very well that she couldn't stay for too long.
It was because she could clearly feel the vigilance from him.
It was as if she was some molester that would attack him, so he was on guard.
She found it funny as she turned to look at him, wondering why she would fall so hard for a kid like him.
Wasn't he just a child?
Claudia looked at Sebastian and met his wary gaze. She smiled and said, "Don't be so nervous. I can understand if you were too embarrassed to eat.
I don't think you have to feel that way as I will not come here often anyway. I hope you can act naturally with me, or they will assume there is something between us."
"Why did you come to our house?" he asked impatiently.
"Do you think I came here for you?" She could not help but to ask.
He narrowed his eyes, and it was clear that was what he assumed about her.
She just found it funny and couldn't hold back her laughter. "You misunderstood. I came to your house for your sister, not you. Your sister may become my cousin-in-law, right?"
He frowned again. It was obvious that he did not believe it.
Who knew what was going in that weird brain of hers?
Anyway, he didn't believe that she was only there for Sylvia.
Naturally, Claudia could tell that Sebastian did not believe what she had said.
He was such a doubtful young man with a complex mind, she thought to herself.
Perhaps it was because she had left a terrible impression on him that he would be suspicious of whatever she said.
Claudia pursed her lips and said as if she was mocking herself, "It seems that you don't believe me."
"It's indeed hard for others to believe you," Sebastian answered frankly.
She pursed her lips and said, "Well, I'll apologize for my past action that inconvenienced you. Sorry, Little Jones. I shouldn't have bothered you. It indeed wasn't right of me to do that."
However, the frown on his face remained as he didn't know what to say in that moment.
He was thinking about what she meant.
Was she playing hard to get?
It looked to him that she was unwilling to give up. But then again, he wasn't so sure.
What was she thinking? The more he thought of it, the more confused he was.
"Don't you think you're a little paranoid, Little Jones? You should learn to trust a little and be a little happy go lucky. There's no use in overthinking. Just focus on your studies. I won't interrupt you eating your meals. I'll go down first. Goodbye."
After saying that, she simply left without lingering.
She even closed the door for him as she walked out. She just left just like that, without any reluctance or any greed shown.

That thought came to his mind immediately.
Sebastian looked at the tightly shut door and frowned even more.
Outside the room, Claudia stood there and took a deep breath. There was a determined look in her eyes.
She felt like a failure to make him so guarded against her.
How could she make him want to avoid her even during meal times and starve himself in like that his own home?
Without doubt, she failed, quite terribly at that.
She shook her head, turned around, and strode
away.
At the end of the corridor, Sylvia stood and watched her with concern in her eyes. Claudia was laughing, and there was no trace of sadness or loneliness on her face. However, Sylvia could feel that Claudia wasn't feeling all that well deep down.
Her disappointment should have been increased by a few folds.
Yet, Claudia was too good at hiding them. At least on the surface, it was hard for anyone to tell what she was feeling.
That version of Claudia made Sylvia's heart ache. She didn't know how to comfort Claudia.
Then again, it was as if no comforting would be enough to make Claudia happy.
Not getting one's feelings reciprocated was the worst feeling ever.
Sylvia had experienced that kind of sadness before, so unless Claudia got what she wanted, nothing would help.
"Claudia," she called out in a low voice.
"I'm fine."
As if she had already seen through Sylvia's mind, Claudia even smiled at her, wanting to reassure that Sylvia.
Sylvia's shoulders drooped, and she nodded in frustration. "I don't know how to comfort you either. I feel sinful to have you comfort me instead." "I'm fine." Claudia smiled, "I really am. Don't worry."
Sylvia opened her mouth. For a moment, she didn't know what to say. The two of them looked at each other and smiled as they walked down the stairs.
Grace realized them coming down the stairs together right away. It seemed that they had completed their task smoothly, but something was amiss. Heinz said, "It seems that something indeed has happened."
"I can see that there is something wrong too, I think we'd been a little too hasty."
"We'll just have to go with the flow then," Heinz whispered, "Let's not make things difficult for Claudia anymore."
"It has been hard on her to have to send food for Sebastian, huh?"
"Anyway, they still have to sort
things out themselves. We're just giving them a chat to talk in private, just two of them." Heinz replied, "It seems that what should be said has been said."
Grace raised her eyes and looked at her husband.
"Could you guess what they said?"
"I guess they just made things clear of not interfering with each other's life. Sebastian has always been like this. He will never admit that he likes her." Heinz knew his son very well.
"You're right. He won't expose so much." Grace sighed, "I wonder who he takes after."
"It must be you and me. Aren't we just the same? How could our child be any different?" He smiled and looked at her with a hopeless expression that
was honest.
She glared at him and said, "Is this what you should be saying about a pregnant woman?"
"Not really, but don't be mad!" He stretched out his hand to fix her fringe for her and tucked her hair behind her ear. Only then was her hair much
neater.
Heinz was very gentle. His slender
finger brushed past Grace's ear and then her cheeks. Then, he apologized gently, "Don't take it to heart. We've been together for so many years. Don't you know me?"
