Chapter 142
Chapter 142
“We…we’re not planning on that right now. As long as Aiden and Alex grow up healthy and happy, that’s all that matters.
Sophia took a deep breath. “I heard from Emmett, you have a son, right?”
Clara nodded awkwardly. “Yeah.”
“I’m gonna be straight with you I wasn’t too happy about you and my son being together, because.. well…I always hoped my son would end up with a woman who hasn’t been around the block too many times! But now that my grandkids are so fond of you, I’ve put that prejudice aside Sophia looked at her seriously. You can bring your child over in the future too! I’ll love him just like my own grandkids! Don’t stress too much. In the Melendez family, as long as you’re steady and decent, without causing any embarrassment to the Melendez family or Emmett, you’re good!”
“I’ll keep that in mind”
“As long as you understand. From now on, we’re family. I’m getting old, I might mess up sometimes, feel free to tell me! I won’t get mad, we can talk things out calmly.”
Clara nodded, “Okay.”
“Go on now, I’m gonna head back to my room.”
“Sure.” This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
Watching Sophia leave, Clara couldn’t help but feel envious of Emmett.
He was so lucky to have a mother who understood and cared for him, always looking out for his best interests! As for her own father…if not for the money, he wouldn’t even remember he had a daughter.
When Emmett arrived at his company, Ricardo came out to greet him and followed him around.
“Don’t worry, Mr. Melendez As soon as she got here, I made sure everyone else left. I promise no one else has seen her except me!”
“Alright.” Emmett frowned, “Remember, destroy all the surveillance footage from today.”
“Got it! Trust me, I won’t let Ms. Calloway find out about this!”
Upon entering the lounge, Emmett saw Leah sitting on the couch with a book in hand.
Hearing the door, Leah stood up and gave Emmett a smile. “I’m sorry for dropping by unannounced! I know you might not be too thrilled to see me, but…I’m sorry, I just miss the kids so much! Can I see them?”
“I think I made myself pretty clear when we were abroad.” Emmett looked a bit annoyed. “Not holding you accountable is already the biggest leniency I could give. You showing up uninvited and causing me trouble, aren’t you afraid I might not be so nice?”
Suddenly, Leah walked up to Emmett and fell to her knees!
“I am the mother of those kids, I gave birth to them! Losing them feels like a part of my heart has been ripped out! Mr. Melendez, I’m not asking to live with them, but can I at least see them from time to time?”
“Aren’t you afraid I might take revenge on you?”
“I’m not scared! And you can’t do that. Leah bit her lip, looking at him defiantly. “I’m their mother. If you do anything to me, how will you explain that to them when they find out? I am their biological mother, that’s a fact that can’t be changed.”
Emmett was taken aback.
He had to admit, Leah was right.
But…
“You should know, I’m married now. You shouldn’t have any expectations of me.”
“If I had any expectations, why didn’t I bring the kids back to be raised by both of us all these years?” Leah retorted. “I’ve been avoiding you this whole time!”
