Two Times the Charm

Chapter 73

Chapter 73

I’m fine…

“Judging by your face, you’re anything but fine. What’s wrong? I can help”

“You can’t help me!” Clara suddenly raised her voice, “This is my problem, not yours.”

With that, she went straight back to her room.

Leaving Emmett standing there, looking utterly confused…

This was the first time Clara had ever spoken to him in this tone! Normally, she was either careful and polite, or submissive and obedient. Was she…. angry today?

Emmett pondered for a moment, then took out his cell phone, Ricardo, can you find out what happened on Clara’s way to drop off Aiden at his horse–riding lesson?” Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g

“Sure thing, Mr Melendez.”

After hanging up. Emmett glanced at Clara’s bedroom door, hesitated for a while, decided not to disturb her, and headed to the study upstairs.

It seemed she was having some kind of trouble.

What worried him more was… whether it was those debt collectors again.

Clara was lying on her bed, sobbing uncontrollably.

She covered her head with a blanket, muffling her sobs!

It was not until she heard her phone vibrating beneath her pillow that she stopped crying

An unknown number…

“Hello…”

“Is this Clara?”

…Clara recognized the voice but didn’t answer.

She knew that voice too well!

How many times had it appeared in her dreams, and how many times had she dreamt of hearing him say, “I’m back.”

“It’s you, right? Clara, come out, I need to talk to you!”

“Mr. Atwood, I have nothing to discuss with you. Why are you still looking for me?”

“Are you crying?” Taylor sounded worried. “What happened? Did Emmett do something to you?”

“That’s none of Mr. Atwood’s business”

“Why are you so cold to me? I’m not going to hurt you, I just want to ask about the past years…”

“We didn’t have anything special going on those years! We were… just normal friends! You lost your memory, didn’t you? It’s better this way. We can just be strangers.

Taylor seemed to sigh, “Clara, I think you’re lying.”

“You’re funny When I tell you the truth, you say I’m lying. So tell me, what is… our relationship?”

Clara was lying on her bed, looking up at the ceiling, tears streaming down her face.

“At least… we were more than just normal friends, right? Were we… together before?”

“No, I have never been with you.”

“You’re lying, there’s something off about your tone!”

“Mr. Atwood, you’re a successful businessman, and I’m just an ordinary person. I ask you to stop looking for me. I’m married now, I don’t want to be disturbed.”

“Did you marry Emmett because you love him? Don’t you know he’s bad news?”

Clara slowly closed her eyes, “Mr. Atwood, you’re being a little too nosy! There’s nothing to discuss between us, and I don’t want to be interrogated like a suspect! That’s it, I hope you won’t bother me anymore.”

After that, Clara hung up the phone and blocked his number.

Her life was chaotic enough as it was, she didn’t have the energy to delve into her past with Taylor!

On the other side, Taylor looked at his phone and frustratedly slammed it against the steering wheel.

He came to Melendez’s company again, hoping to see Clara.

No matter what, he wanted to explain the past to Clara in person. Perhaps… perhaps seeing her in person would trigger some memories of their past!
