Chapter 412

Clara walked to Leah’s side, her head down, and slowly pulled out a chair. Leah’s mocking whisper echoed in her ears.

“Look at him, he’s not interested in you anymore.”

Sophia was even colder. “Remember what I told you. Find a chance and get out of here!”

Clara bit her lower lip, hiding behind the dining table, trying to make herself less noticeable.

But Emmett, once seated, looked at her and said, “Why are you standing so far away? As a maid, shouldn’t you know how to serve your master?”

Clara was unable to speak.

“Pour me some wine!” Emmett ordered. This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.

“Son, look at her sulking here. She’s such a mood killer. Let her go!” Sophia couldn’t help but speak.

The dining atmosphere had become very strange, making Leah feel awkward.

“I don’t find her depressing.” Emmett didn’t even bother to look up. “If you guys find her depressing, feel free to leave.”

Sophia pursed her lips, not daring to say another word.

Leah quickly laughed it off. “Emmett, don’t misunderstand Sophia’s intentions. She personally ordered this lavish dinner with all your favorite dishes. Let’s focus on the gourmet food. Come, Clara, stop standing there. Join us…”

“What right does she have to sit and eat?” Sophia whispered to Leah, “Didn’t I tell you not to treat her like a friend? She’s polluting our air in the Melendez household!”

Emmett just picked up his glass and took a sip, but no one noticed his furrowed brows.

“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have come. I’ll leave now.”

Clara pulled a weak smile, took a few steps back, and was about to leave.

“Did I say you could leave? Who do you listen to in this house?” Emmett suddenly spoke.

Sophia couldn’t help but speak. “Son, it seems like you’re not planning to let me enjoy this dinner, are you?”

Emmett drained his wine glass, abruptly stood up, grabbed Clara’s wrist, and left the dining room, leaving everyone in shock.

Nobody understood what Emmett was trying to do.

Behind him, Sophia stood up to follow, but Leah pretended to be worried and stopped her.

“Sophia, you better not chase after him. Don’t upset him. Didn’t you see? He still has feelings for Clara. Let’s just let it go. I’ve seen both children now, and that’s enough for me. I’ll pack up and leave tomorrow.”

“Why are you leaving? It’s Clara who should leave!” Sophia’s eyes were filled with anger.

If it weren’t for Emmett’s presence, she would’ve liked to slap Clara and make her realize the reality.

She even dared to come to the Melendez household. Could she have really tolerated her?

“But you also saw that Emmett was still defending Clara. My presence is making the relationship between you and your son even more strained, which is not what I want to see!*

Sophia turned to look at Leah, took her hand, and gently squeezed it.

“My sweet girl, once I’ve decided that you’re my daughter-in-law, nobody can change that. Just listen to me and stay comfortably in the Melendez household. I’ll make Emmett realize Clara’s true colors and that you’re the only one who should be his wife!”
