Chapter 129 The Second Birthday Present
Chapter 129 The Second Birthday Present
Back at the villa, Kara was still flustered when she thought of James's bold behavior in the lounge.
If he wanted to get engaged to another woman, why did he act so intimately with her?
Frustrated, she turned to look at her bag, a chill down her spine.
If he didn't get engaged to Kathleen, James wouldn't be able to keep the position of the SA Group's
president, but Kathleen was not a good match for him!
She went to get Libby to pour her a glass of wine. She had never drunk before, but didn't everyone say
that liquor could strengthen one's courage?
James, who was handling his work in the study, suddenly heard a knock on the door. The only person
who could knock at this time was Kara.
Thinking of her shy appearance in the afternoon, he subconsciously licked his lips.
"Come in!"
She was still knocking.
The door wasn't open, but the knocking continued.
James frowned and got up to open the door. Leaning against the door, Kara pounced forward. James
immediately hugged her.
When he smelled the alcohol, he knitted his brows and carried her to the sofa.
"You have to take medicine and can't drink. Don't you know that?"
Kara blinked in a daze, and it took her a while before she realized that the man was James.
"James, I didn't know the wine tasted so bad. I only drank a little bit," she said, nodding obediently.
Kara was helpless. She wanted to drink some wine to strengthen her courage, but she didn't expect
that after only drinking just a few cups, she couldn't take it anymore. She was dizzy.
She was clear-headed, but she could not walk steadily. Property of Nô)(velDr(a)ma.Org.
"Why did you drink?" James looked at her drunk appearance in disgust. However, he did not let go of
her.
"I have something to tell you." Kara took out her small bag and all the photos in it.
"James, I, I received a package. In it were a stack of photos and a note." She was so drunk that her
vision was blurred, and after rummaging for a long time, she could not find the note she had
mentioned.
When James saw the photos, his eyes sparkled. He helped her find the note and waved it in front of
her eyes.
"What do you want to say?"
Kara stared at him in a daze, looking a little foolish.
"I took out these photos because this package was sent to you. I just signed it for you. Marriage is a
matter of a lifetime. No matter what decision you will make, I will support it."
"Really?" James watched her sway left and right. He reached out to hug her.
Kara nodded seriously.
She nodded too heavily, and she leaned forward. James frowned and picked her up, letting her lean
into his arms.
"What if I let you be my bride? Will you support that?"
Kara's mind went blank as she stared at him dumbly.
"If you can't do it, don't make it so sure." James knew that she was unwilling in her heart, so he
sneered sarcastically.
"James, that's not it. You are just my Uncle James, how can we..."
"You fool, we are not related by blood. We are not even relatives!" he denied coldly.
But in her heart, they were related.
He was her elder, her uncle!
Besides, Kathleen said that if he did not get engaged to Kathleen, he would give up the position of
president of the SA Group. She did not want James to lose it because of her.
Kara bit her lips, lowered her head, and did not speak.
"You hate me so much that you don't even get along with me?" James raised her chin and made her
look straight at him.
"I didn't." Kara had no choice but to break free from his embrace, swaying as she stood in front of him.
She explained in a low voice.
"James, don't force me."
How did he force her?
James took a deep breath and carried her. "I'll take you to bed."
Kara wanted to dodge, but it was too late.
She leaned against his chest in a daze and had no choice but to let him.
She swore in her heart that she would never touch alcohol again!
...
When she went to the studio, Kara had a headache because of the alcohol, and she was in a bad
mood, so she knocked over the paint.
Donald saw that she was distracted and thought that she probably did not rest well, so he let her clean
up the apartment.
After hearing this, Kara became rigorous again and tidied it up for the entire afternoon so that she could
move in at any time. She was satisfied.
However, when she returned to the villa, she was a little panicked and did not know how to tell James
that she wanted to move out.
While she was deep in thought, someone suddenly covered her eyes and asked in a flat voice.
"Guess who I am?"
Kara frowned, closed her eyes, and approached that guy. She did not smell any familiar aura on him.
"Eli, you are so boring."
"It's been a long time since we last met and you still recognize me. I feel very honored." Eli let go of
her, a bright smile on his face.
"Are you here to look for James?" She took a step back and asked.
Eli stared at her seriously and shook his head, then took out a small box from behind and handed it to
her.
"What's it?"
Kara was puzzled. Why would he suddenly give her a gift? She did not dare to take it.
"It's your birthday gift. I didn't give it to you last time. This time, I want to make up for it."
"A birthday present?"
Kara stared blankly at the small box in his hand. Her 18th birthday was not happy, so she was not
looking forward to any gift.
But if Eli had not arrived in time, something might have happened to her, so she was very grateful to
Eli.
"Thank you. You're the second person to give me a birthday present," she said with a smile as she
slowly took the small box.
"Is the first one my brother?"
Eli was a little disappointed. He wanted to become the unique one.
"May I know he gave to you?"
Kara looked up at him and saw the faint smile on his face. It was not good to refuse.
"James gave me a necklace." She took the necklace out.
Eli looked at her necklace and was slightly surprised. He could tell that the value of this necklace was
extremely high.
What surprised him the most was that there was also a black diamond hanging on the necklace, which
was a bit disharmonious with her necklace.
Something suddenly flashed in his mind. He seemed to see a black diamond ring on his cousin's pinky
finger.
Why did they wear the same ring?
"This necklace is so beautiful. He is so good to you."
Feeling a little guilty, Kara put the necklace away, as well as the small box.
"Aren't you curious about what I've given you?" Eli stared at her with passionate eyes.
Kara was speechless.
Kara was not curious, but since he had asked, she had to open it. It was a unique pink diamond
brooch.
She blinked in surprise and could not help but praise.
"It's so beautiful."
"I'll put it on for you. It must be great." Seeing her heartfelt happiness, Eli was also delighted and took
the initiative to take out the brooch to help her put it on.
"Eli, it's better for me to do it myself." Kara felt it strange.
"Since we are friends, we have to be frank with each other. Kara, don't think too much." Eli chuckled
and had helped her with the brooch.
He took two steps back and looked at the dazzling pink diamond. There was a warmth in his heart.
In the position closest to her heart was his gift.
"Thank you."
Kara felt that he was right. Since they wanted to be friends, then they should be honest with each other.
Eli was a guest since she had come to the villa. Kara wanted Libby to prepare more dishes for dinner.
When she turned around, she saw James standing tall and straight at the door of the living room. She
did not know how long he had been standing there. His face was gloomy and he stared at her coldly.
Kara's back was soaked in a cold sweat from his stare. When she remembered that Eli had just given
her a brooch, she was afraid and took a step back. She bumped into Eli.
Eli was worried that she would fall and immediately reached out to support her.
James narrowed his cold eyes and stared at Eli's hand that was on Kara's shoulder. Ruthlessness was
in his eyes, and his cold aura could freeze everything.
