Uncontrollable Fondness

Chapter 34 Well done

Chapter 34 Well done

When the day broke, William didn’t look back and walked out. He didn’t even take another look at her.

Looking at the bed sheets in a mess, Mia felt disgusted. She heard the sound of a car starting up and

William’s Maserati rushed away.

Soon a voice came from the corridor. “Where did William go so early?”

“He said the office.”

“Oh, that’s right, I’m sick for such a long time he must have a lot of unfinished work. Rebecca, If

anything happens to me just contact Professor Davies, don’t disturb William.”

The gentle and delicate sweet voice and yet cold serious voice, Mia immediately recognized, it’s

Sophia and Rebecca.

Rebecca answered, “Yes Madam.” And their words came through the door.

She thought that they were passing through but suddenly there were knocks on the door. Mia was

stunned and sat on the bed, not knowing what to do. It wasn’t until the fifth knock did she reply,

“coming’, and quickly got out of the bed.

She quickly picked up the clothes on the floor and covered herself with the blanket to hide the marks

from lovemaking. Only then did she open the door.

Outside, a delicate and pure face appeared. They looked alike except that Sophia was far more elegant

and aristocratic. She wore a long purple dress over her frail and delicate body. It was someone that

everyone would want to protect.

“Ah?” Sophia’s beautiful eyes fell upon Mia’s body and looked surprised and said, “You look very

familiar, have we met somewhere?”

In fact, she was captured by Peter to replace her. Except for that time she almost lost her life.

Her face started to flush and was awkward and didn’t know what to say. Rebecca was quick to say

respectfully, “Madam, have you forgotten? She looks very much like you!”

“It’s her!” Sophia suddenly remembers and her expression changed immediately. Mia thought that she

remembered that she had tried to shoot her once and lowered her head, “I’m sorry.”

“Oh, it’s nothing.” Sophia quickly calmed down and held her hand. “After all, I’m very unfortunate.

Forget it, it’s all in the past.”

Mia was dazed. She saw that Sophia was so willing to approach her and regretted that she was once

so nasty towards her. Sophia looked at her like they had known each other for a long time, “You really

look like me. It’s a rare opportunity that we have the destiny to meet and yet you are donating your

bone marrow to me. I don’t even know how to thank you.”

“No need!” Mia didn’t expect the heartless and cruel William can have such a kind and thoughtful wife.

Sophia was really obliging. She immediately gave her two dresses. One for wearing at home and

another nightgown. They were all purple. She insisted that Mia wore it and pursed her lips and said,

“Very nice, you have a great figure, Miss Charles. Purple looks very refreshing on you and is my

favorite color.”

“You like purple?” She remembered Rebecca mentioning once that Sophia liked sky blue and that was

why William always didn’t allow her to wear anything that was sky blue in color.

Sophia raised her eyebrow, “Yes, any matter?”

“Oh, nothing.”

Sophia didn’t pursue and dragged her downstairs to have breakfast and tea. Her beautiful eyes

occasionally fell onto her, “Miss Charles, where did you graduate from, what did you study?”

“Oh, Western University Hospital, a general practitioner on Chinese medicine,” Mia answered truthfully.

Sophia was surprised, “Wow, medicine, you are so smart!”

Chatting with Sophia was very casual, much more comfortable compared to William. Mia enjoyed

chatting with Sophia.

“Madam, you need to take your medicine.” Rebecca brought a bowl of medicine. Sophia blinked and

waved her away. After drinking the medicine, she became restless, weak, and pale.

Mia was uneasy and asked, “Missus Brown, are you not feeling well?”

“A little tired.” Sophia shook her head, and laughed at her, “don’t worry, I’ve been like this for several

years, it’s okay.”

Mia calmed down.

Sophia requested meekly, “Can you help me upstairs to rest? The servants are resting now, I don’t

want to disturb them.”

How can she refuse such a gentle and compassionate person? Mia carefully guided Sophia to her

room, laid her down, and gently covered her with a blanket.

Sophia softly said, “Thanks” which went right into Mia’s heart, she quietly blamed the heavens for the

injustice. Why does such a nice person have to be inflicted with such illness? Even if someone should

get an illness, it should be a heartless person like William. On second thoughts, if he fell ill, then Sophia

would suffer as well.

As she turned and was about to leave, Sophia remarked, “Ah! I forgot another medicine, can you help

me get it?”

Mia agreed and Sophia laughed as she apologized, “It’s in the inner room and second on the left. Just

take it to me will do.” Mia ran to the inner room and saw a spread of medicine bottles. She took the

second one from the left and ran back.

She poured a cup of water and after Sophia had taken the medicine, she returned the bottle to its

original position. Thereafter she walked slowly out the door. Behind her, Sophia kept looking at her

back, her gaze started to turn evil.

In the afternoon, the Brown residence suddenly turned rowdy. The servants ran up and down, back and ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .

forth. Soon she saw James through the window.

Why was he here?

She looked curiously at his back as he anxiously attended to Sophia. She remembered what Sophia

said, “If anything happens to me just contact Professor Davies directly.” Does Sophia have a relapse?

After a while, Sophia was carried by James and placed into a car and the car swiftly disappeared from

view.

She must have had a relapse. Wasn’t she fine this morning?

Mia was worried about Sophia and wanted to ask someone about it but all of the servants practically

forgot about her. No one seemed to be around. Time passed by and it was dinner time but there wasn’t

anyone around.

She decided to go out to look for someone and as she opened the door, she got a fright.

There were two men in black and each had a gun in his hand.

“You…” She looked to the right and then the left, not understanding why they were here. One of the

men looked at her coldly and said, “Boss instructed that from now on you are to remain in your room,

you can’t go anywhere!”

“Why like this? Did something happen to Mrs. Brown? How is she?”

No one answered her, the man raised his gun and ignored her. But she knew that as soon as she

stepped out, they would stop her.

She can’t go out and she can’t get any information. A chill ran down her spine, a strange fear gripped

her.

It was already ten at night and she was already beyond hunger. She was tired from the anxiety and

leaned against the headboard, nodding off to sleep. Bang, the door was kicked open and shocked her

awake. She lifted her head and an angry William stood by the door with his eyebrows raised, his eyes

shot daggers of fury towards her and the tensed face was murderous with tightly pursed lips.

“What… what happened?” Mia jumped up and mustered her courage to walk towards William. She

stopped halfway out of fear but faced him directly.

He walked into the room in several big strides and his hand flung towards her and grabbed her neck

tightly, he ground his teeth and roared, “Don’t you know what you did?”

“What… what did I do?” What did she do? She looked helplessly at him and was starting to feel dizzy

from the lack of air. Her face became flushed and her chest tightened.

He flung her and her body flew onto the bed. Her back hurt from the impact as she gasped and

coughed for air.

The door was kicked shut blocking all views from outside. She struggles up and William already rushed

over and pressed her down. She had her breath squeezed out of her and her internal organs nearly

burst under the pressure. She was thinking if William wanted her dead today.

Mia used her strength and said weakly, “Even if you want me dead, at least let me know why.”

“Why? Don’t you know why? Do you think that you can commit a perfect crime and no one can detect

it? You are too forgetful. James is the best internal medicine doctor around. Nothing can hide from his

eyes.”

What’s the matter? She weakly shook her head and closed her eyes. She really didn’t know what was

happening.

William obviously thought otherwise and increased the pressure on her as he accused, “You gave

Sophia expired medicine? Why do you want so much to harm her? Do you think that you can replace

her when she’s dead? Mia, let me tell you, that’s impossible, you are not worthy!”

Replace her? She had never entertained that thought! Expired medicine?

The train of thought ended there and Mia opened her eyes and shook her head, “I truly … didn’t… that

medicine…” Rip, the sound of clothes being torn interrupted her explanation. Her clothes were

shredded and tossed about. Then her lower body tightened and the same happened to her pants.

William thundered, “You like to be a slut? I’ll grant you your wishes!”

“No, don’t…” Her body ached, her mind spun, she couldn’t breathe and finally, Mia passed out.

The room was littered with torn clothing and on the bed laid a bruised and battered woman.

Her once fair and snow-white skin is now full of bruises, teeth bites, hand imprints, she was in a pitiful

state.

Mia slowly moved her body and the cold air conditioner finally woke her up. Her loose hair lay untidy on

the white sheet. Her pale face was whiter than the sheets. Her lips were swollen and some wounds

oozed blood.

Her body ached all over. She tried in vain to get up several times. She felt nauseous and dry wrenched

at the bedside. Her abdomen ached and she winced in pain.

Rebecca opened the door coldly and looked at the person by the bed. She tossed over a dress and

said emotionlessly, “Get up immediately and dress up!”
