CHAPTER 109
When she left, He went crazy
Chapter 109: Is This How Your Husband Loves Your Daughter?
Chapter 109: Is This How Your Husband Loves Your Daughter? If it were any other time, I would just feel angry. But now, seeing Brenda and Evelyn like this, I found it particularly amusing, and my frustration dissipated quite a bit.
I smiled and said, “Not divorced.”
The smiles on Brenda and Evelyn’s faces instantly froze. Evelyn, however, didn’t believe it and sneered, “How is that possible? Christopher specifically informed the courthouse to make sure the divorce happened immediately. Hope Royston, stop being stubborn. Divorce is nothing to be ashamed of.”
I shrugged and said deliberately, “Well, I don’t know. Maybe he suddenly couldn’t bear to leave me. After all, we’ve been married for so long, and not just anyone can compare to that.”
Evelyn glared at me and accused, “Hope Royston, how thick–skinned can you be…”
She stared at me with hatred, as if she wanted to tear me apart. But Brenda stopped her and interrupted, “You’re thirty years old, why do you still get so easily provoked by her?”
Then, she looked at me and asked, ‘Are you telling the truth?”
“Otherwise, you can ask,” I said casually, but Brenda actually went to ask.
Brenda walked into the office with a strong attitude. “I’m Christopher’s mother.”
The middle–aged man had seen Brenda and Evelyn following Christopher earlier, so he naturally believed her and was very respectful. “Mrs. Valence, what can I do for you?”
Brenda asked, “Did they just divorce?”
The man replied, “No.”
Brenda shouted, “What!”
“Mr. Valence had to leave for something urgent,” the middle–aged man answered truthfully.
Outside the door, Evelyn and I both heard it. Evelyn immediately cursed, “Hope Royston, you’re just a man–stealer. Did you pull some trick again?”
As she spoke, she rushed up to hit me.
I was prepared and not only did I avoid Evelyn’s attack, but I also gave her a hard slap, laughing. This slap is because you forced me to. Evelyn Valence, no one can seduce a man like you can.”
Evelyn was stunned by my slap, covering her cheek in shock, her face twisted. “What gives you the right to hit me?”
“For seducing men, what else?” I answered casually, taking a wet wipe from my bag and slowly wiping my hand. “Evelyn Valence, hitting you just dirties my hand.”

With that, I was about to walk away.
Even if I didn’t look at my phone, Brenda would soon see the news online. I couldn’t wait to get away from this mess and avoid getting caught up in Brenda and Evelyn’s argument.
But Brenda wouldn’t let me go so easily. She came out and, hearing my words to Evelyn, grabbed the furious Evelyn and spoke methodically, “Ms. Royston, what you said is not right. Evelyn knew Christopher first. Your behavior of coming later and taking over is called destroying someone else’s family. How can you have the nerve to call her a man- stealer?”
I suddenly understood why Evelyn could be so shameless. It’s really inherited, passed down from generation to generation. Genes were something ingrained in the bones, unchangeable.
I turned back, looking at Brenda’s behavior of protecting her child, and suddenly felt a malicious urge..“Brenda, does it mean that no matter what your daughter does, you can always find a reason to defend her?”
Evelyn even dared to sleep with Brenda’s husband, all because Brenda indulged her. No sense of decency or shame.
Brenda didn’t care, saying, “What else? She’s my daughter, the one I almost died giving birth to. If I don’t protect her, should I protect you?”
“Got it.” I nodded thoughtfully and asked a cruel question with a smile, “What if she takes something from you?”
Brenda was
ill in the dark, but Evelyn was guilty as sin.
Evelyn’s face changed dramatically, hiding her panic, and she snapped, “Hope Royston, what are you doing? Not only are you trying to take Christopher, but now you want to drive a wedge between me and my mother? Mommy, let’s go!”
Evelyn pulled Brenda to leave, afraid I might say something more.
Brenda refused, shielding Evelyn behind her, standing tall with contempt and disdain.
She uttered, “Evelyn is right. Don’t think you can come between us. I know you grew up without parents. Even though Charlie and I are in a second marriage, he loves Evelyn as much as I do. Evelyn has always had a warm and loving family. In the end, an orphan like you must be very jealous of Evelyn.”
“Yes, that’s right.” I nodded noncommittally, saying meaningfully, “Charlie does indeed love Evelyn Valence very much.”
As I spoke, I looked at Evelyn unhurriedly and smiled. “Isn’t that right?”
Evelyn’s pupils contracted, her hands trembling at her sides, and she clung to Brenda’s arm, making up an excuse. “Mother, I haven’t ever had lunch yet. I’m feeling a bit hypoglycemic. Let’s not waste time here with her. Let’s go.”
“Alright.” Hearing that Evelyn was unwell, Brenda stopped arguing with me and angrily warned, “Ms. Royston, I advise you to get the divorce soon and stop delaying Christopher and Evelyn’s happiness! Otherwise, neither I nor Charlie will let you off!”
Scary.
As Brenda and Evelyn turned to leave, Evelyn breathed a sigh of relief, and I leisurely said, “Wait a minute.”

Brenda turned back impatiently. “What else do you want? Didn’t you hear my daughter say she’s hungry?”
I retorted, “Is this how your husband usually loves your daughter?“,
I calmly opened the news, found a screenshot from the video before it was taken down, and handed it to Brenda, sighing, “It’s really eye–opening!”
One was Charlie, whom Brenda had fought to be with, and the other was Evelyn, whom Brenda had raised herself.
Just one look was enough for Brenda to recognize them.
As madness flashed in Brenda’s eyes and she reached out to grab my phone, I quickly pulled back, took a few steps back, and reminded her with a smile, “It’s the top trending news. See for yourself.”
I didn’t want my phone to be smashed by Brenda.
Evelyn, standing on the other side, hadn’t seen the image on my phone. Watching Brenda frantically search for her phone, Evelyn glared at me and gritted her teeth. “Hope Royston, what did you
you show my mother?”
‘I smiled. “Of course, something good. You can look too. After all, you’re one of the main characters.”
Watching Brenda’s face grow colder inch by inch and her hands start to tremble, I still felt it wasn’t satisfying enough.
Words and photos couldn’t stimulate the senses like a video could.
So, I sent the video from my phone to Brenda, mocking, “Here’s the video version too. You’re welcome.”
