When Love Turns Cold

CHAPTER 102

However, Sam smiled. “Don’t mind me. I won’t know how it’ll turn out if I

don’t try, right?”

Miranda replied, “Even if you’ll be disappointed?”

Sam’s gaze darkened. “If so, I’ll accept defeat with grace.”

Miranda didn’t expect him to

o stubborn. She fell silent.

Picking up on her emotions, Sam stopped trying to initiate a conversation. In silence, he listened to the sound of the waves with her. He only left when it was midnight.

Miranda thought of his quiet stubbornness and resolve.

Sam was actually someone who knew his boundaries. He wasn’t assertive or reckless when he tried to win her favor. In fact, he tried his best not to bother her.

He was unlike Hansel, who used to woo her relentlessly, while now, he’d lose his cool time and again.

Miranda sighed. Oh, well. She couldn’t really stop others from doing what they wanted. She would just do what she was supposed to do.

Just as she turned to return to her room, she spotted a figure quietly standing in the dark. It was like a ghost….

Frightened, Miranda almost screamed. The figure emerged from the dark. As the light fell on his face, Miranda slowly realized who it was. Hansel, what on earth are you trying to do?”

It was really scary for him to stand there in the middle of the night and not say anything!

When Miranda left, the ball soon seemed meaningless to Hansel. He went after her but failed to find her. Ingrid clung to him persistently. She

claimed she was hungry and wanted food.

Hansel’s patience wore out, and he was thoroughly annoyed. In the end, he beckoned a waiter and asked him to bring Ingrid to the restaurant.

The hotel was very stern about upholding their guests‘ privacy, so Hansel had to put in a great deal of effort to know which room Miranda

was in.

He then eagerly came to look for her, only to see her and Sam gazing at the sea side by side on the balcony.

Her white backless dress billowed in the breeze. With her hair cascading over her shoulders and aloo pression, she stood out against the darkness of the night.

Meanwhile, Sam was tall, slender, and had broad shoulders. Standing side by side, they looked picture–perfect together.

Hansel stood rooted to the spot. It wasn’t until after Sam left that Miranda finally noticed him.

He still wore the mask he wore at the ball. As he gazed at her, a faint glint flashed in his eyes. With every step he took, Miranda’s frown deepened.

“Why have you come? I’ve said all that I have to say. You-” Before she could finish her sentence, she felt his strong grip on her wrist.

“Why would you choose him over me?” Hansel asked with bloodshot

eyes.

Miranda tried to break free but failed. She then looked straight into his eyes. “What are you on to now?”

“Sam. I saw him here,” said Hansel. “Don’t you know what kind of person he is?

Miranda could feel his breath. Stepping back, she asked, “What are you

trying to say?”

Her actions implied her estrangement from him. Anger flickered in his reddened eyes. He sounded increasingly grave. “Do you think he really likes you? He’s a sly, cunning man, and also someone who fools around. Don’t be deceived.”

Sam had been raised as the heir t s family. Hansel had never heard him expressing his likes or dislikes. He was reserved and introspective. Sometimes, not even Hansel, his best friend, would know what he was.

thinking. From NôvelDrama.Org.

But this time, Sam had a falling out with him out of nowhere. Hansel couldn’t stop thinking that he might have other intentions. He might even be using Miranda to achieve his motives.

Miranda didn’t understand nor did she want to listen to him. She calmly said, “No matter what his motives are, it’s none of my business.”
