Chapter 520 Delicate Egoist
"You're so low!"
Alina clenched her fists and tried to hide her dismay with a fierce look.
Antwan’s words hit her sore spot.
Over the years, she and Braden were like brothers. They seemed to be close, others may not think it
was unusual forthem to hold hands, even if they ate and slept together.
However, that was completely different from holding hands between a couple.
She had always dreamed that she and Braden would become a real couple. Then they could hold
hands, kiss, and even be more intimate.
"You are angry from embarrassment. It seems that I am right. You are noble, but you are unwilling.
Such unwillingness will only make you more and more distorted, and finally become lower and more
perverted than me."
Antwan approached Alina with a meaningful smile.
"Bullshit! I'm not like you. I love Braden, so I won't hurt him. But look at what you've done. You say you
love Shirley. Yet all you've done is to hurt her.
She's right. Your love is to destroy. You're insane!"
Alina was very disdainful of Antwan.
She and Antwan grew up together, but since she was on Braden's side, they naturally became
enemies.
If he hadn't promised her that she would be with Braden as long as she behaved herself, she probably
wouldn't even bother to say a word to him in this life.
Although he did fulfill his promises and she managed to get together with Braden, she still found it
annoying and felt that something was missing.
"Hahaha, Ms. Gilmore, have found your conscience and are you ready to retreat? Are you so generous
that you want to wish these two lovers a happy ending?"
Antwan laughed as if he had discovered a big joke.
"I can't give them my wish. I’ve just been through so many things, and I'm too tired to fight anymore..."
Alina looked at the two emergency lights flashing at the same time and said with mixed feelings, "I've
always thought that Shirley doesn't love Braden at all. She only loves Braden's identity and halo around
him. But today I've wavered. I can't believe that she could die for Braden. It's such a high cliff and a
deep river. Yet she could still jump without thinking twice. Where had she found the courage? I can't
even do it myself..."
"So, what are you trying to say? Are you really going to retreat?"
"I don't know. I'm in a mess. I just want Braden to be safe now.’
"I can let you have Braden completely this time. Would you like to try again?"
Antwan’s eyes became distant and mysterious.
"So what if I get him? His heart doesn't belong to me, and there's no point, and I'm not as perverted as
you, enjoying forcing myself on him..."
At this point, she smiled self-deprecatingly, "We're said to be a couple, but we haven't even held hands
and kissed. What kind of couple is this?"
"If you want to be the winner in love, it's not enough just to have feelings, you have to have means. If
you don't have, I'll help you think of means... This time, it's the best time."
"What is the best time?"
"The best time for you to occupy Braden's body and mind!"
At this Alina leaned over and spoke close to her ear.
Alina clenched her fists even tighter and gulped, "l-ls this going to work?"
"Which time wont my method work?"
Antwan smiled confidently.
Alina was almost persuaded, and she was obviously tempted, but she still had some doubts. "Why are
you helping me?’ Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
"No, I’m a delicate egoist. I won't help anyone but myself. In other words... I'm not helping you. I'm
helping myself."
After a whole night, Shirley gradually recovered her strength and woke up.
"You're awake. How do you feel?"
Antwan was sitting by the hospital bed, peeling an apple for her.
The apple peel was very thin and long, and it didn't break at the end.
Just like his way of doing things, he was always so flawless and left no room for negotiation.
Shirley had a splitting headache. Looking at the white ward, she was a little flustered for a moment,
"Where am I? I'm still alive?"
"Of course, a person as lucky as you can't be defeated by a small river. You're resilient. Though your
legs are broken like that, you still managed to swim downstream. I'll give you a thumbs up!"
With a gentle smile, Antwan handed the peeled apple to Shirley.
Shirley was not in the mood to eat apples. She frowned and asked, "Where's Braden? How is he?"
"Don't worry, his willpower is more tenacious than yours. He has lost so much blood, but he survived
and I must give him a thumbs up too."
He said calmly, but to Shirley, it was like a storm.
"What? He, he lost too much blood... Ah!"
She was so shocked that she tried to stand up and tug at the wound on her leg, her face hideous with
pain.
"Why are you in such a hurry? Do you have a hard time now?"
Antwan hurriedly held the woman's fragile body and gently put her back on the hospital bed. "You have
to take good care of your legs. Don't even try to get out of bed before you recuperate at least half a
month."
"I'm alright. I am only concerned about Braden. How is he? Why did he lose too much blood? Is his
injury that serious? He..."
"Calm down. He has passed the crisis and is now under Alina's care. He is in good condition."
"That's... that's good."
Shirley breathed a sigh of relief, and her eyes darkened.
Although she had prepared herself to hand Braden over to Alina, she still couldn't help but feel sad
when it came to this situation.
"He is not seriously injured, but he seems to have some mental problems, and it is quite troublesome."
Antwan cut a piece of apple, ate it casually, and then said.
"Mental problems?"
"Yes, he seems to have forgotten a lot of things, and his dependence on Alina has reached the morbid
state. Except for Alina, he doesn't want anyone to approach him. I want to visit him, but I can only do it
at the door. How pitiful."
"Why, why is it like this?"
"Who knows, maybe it was a head hit, or maybe it was excessive blood loss which caused a shortage
of blood supply in the brain and a loss of memory. Anyway, the doctor barged a lot and I couldn't
understand it."
As he spoke to that, he smiled and looked at Shirley, "But you don't care, do you? You broke up with
him anyway. He betrayed you long ago. You're so stupid to die for such a person."
"It's not what you think. He didn't betray me at all. Everything he did was to protect me, but I was too
stupid and did too many things to hurt him."
Shirley said with tears in her eyes.
"Then are you planning to get back together with him?"
Antwan’s eyes were complicated as he asked tentatively.
