Chapter 133
Why bother to to ruin Rhett and Hertha’s enjoyable evening?
With tears in her eyes, Kristin numbly made her way to her room.
What was she so upset about?
Six years ago, when Ruby had stormed into the hotel with Vincent to catch a cheater, Kristin didn’t seem nearly as distraught as she felt now when Vincent had doubted her.
Insecurity, helplessness and fear all crashed down on her in an instant.
The moment Hertha suggested her feelings for Rhett, Kristin panicked.
Kristin feared her feelings being discovered by others, especially Rhett. She couldn’t let Rhett
know…
Her liking Rhett felt like a contamination of him.
“Kristin, don’t turn yourself into a laughing stock again…”
She felt like the punchline of a joke.
Just because Rhett was different from the others, she foolishly fluttered her heart.
Disgusting… Kristin felt repulsed by herself.
She should take a hard look at herself in the mirror and assess if she was even deserving.
Once in her room, Kristin tried desperately to stay composed, but it seemed like her illness was flaring up again.
Her limbs stiffened, her breathing grew laboured.
She hid in the bathroom, turning on the shower to rinse endlessly, feeling dirty, unworthy of
anyone.
Anxiously biting her lip, Kristin didn’t even notice when she drew blood.
How could she like Rhett? Impossible.
An impatient knocking came from outside the door.
Kristin thought she was hallucinating. Turning off the shower, she wrapped a towel around herself and walked stiffly to the door.
“Open up…” It was Rhett’s voice on the other side tinged with irritation and anger. Kristin opened the door in a panic, momentarily forgetting her drenched state. As soon as the door cracked open, Rhett stumbled in, falling on top of Kristin. She frantically tried to support Rhett, smelling the strong scent of blood on him.

“Mr. FitzGerald, what happened to you?” Kristin’s hand came away covered in blood,
“Rhett…” Kristin sobbed, anxiously checking for wounds as she sat on the floor with him.
“It’s nothing… just a cut on my palm.” Rhett’s consciousness was hazy, but he could hear Kristin crying. Her voice was what finally made him relax.
To stay awake, he had cut his palm with a shard of a broken glass.
“Kristin…” he murmured.
“I’m here.” Kristin cried as she treated his wound.
“I’m docking your salary this month. How could you leave me behind?” Rhett had come with anger, but at the sight of Kristin’s tears, his rage dissipated.
“I’ll… I’ll take you to the hospital.” Kristin noticed something was off with Rhett who was definitely not just drunk.
Rhett gripped his injured hand tightly to maintain consciousness. “The drink was spiked.”
Kristin burst into tears, disoriented. She stood up, intending to change clothes and take Rhett to the hospital. This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.
How could this happen? How could he be hurt? But as she was about to get up, Rhett suddenly grabbed her wrist, pulling her into his embrace and holding her tight.
Clearly, he had lost his rationality.
“Mr. FitzGerald…” Kristin was terrified, her whole body shaking. Only then did she realize she was only in a towel.
Her face paled as she tried to push Rhett away, her hands trembling with fear.
Would Rhett think she did this on purpose?
“Stay still…” Rhett’s voice was hoarse as he tried to restrain himself. “I feel terrible…”
Kristin dared not move, her heart pounding.
Was it an illusion? She resisted all men, but with Rhett in this intimate position, she didn’t feel the need to push him away.
“It hurts.” Rhett’s voice was hoarse as he held Kristin tighter.
Her heart skipped a beat and she felt an unexpected pang of sympathy. “The drink tonight…” Feeling the heat of his breath, Kristin realized, the drink must have been tampered with. “Why did you run…” Rhett had lost all sense of reason, holding her head as he kissed her.
He must have lost control picking up that familiar scent on Kristin, the same one that woman carried six years ago.
Kristin didn’t dare move as tears streamed down her face.

She desperately wanted to push he away but she was scared
“I feel bad…” But when he buried his head in her neck, his voice hoarse and gained, Kristin inexplicably lifted her hand to embrace hims
She was dirty, unworthy of Rhett But maybe this was all she was worth
She owed Phett so much. How was she to repay him?
Her trembling fingers reached for his tie and Kristin felt she was going mad.
Perhaps she truly was.
Phett leaned against the wall his gaze intense as he looked at Kristin, then suddenly stood, holding her in one arm.
Kristin let out a gasp, clinging to Rhett her body shaking uncontrollably
Rhett wanted to kiss Kristin but she dodged.
“Wait…” Kristin was hoarse in her voice, shaking as she undid his buttons. “Do we need a condom?
“Don’t run again.” Rhett was commanding as he traced Kristin and kissed her. “You’ve been running for six years, huh?”
Kristin couldn’t control her tears, wanting to flee in fear.
She knew the person Rhett was talking about wasn’t her. It was hetta
Should she call Hertha? Would that be right?
“It’s not… not me.” Kristin cried hard, but she couldn’t push Rhett away.
At the sight of Kristin’s constant tears, Rhett comforted her, holding her close. “We re a legal couple.”
Kristin tensed her body, her gaze shifting to Rhett in shock.
Had she misheard, or was she overthinking?
It must be the latter…
“Ah!” Suddenly pushed against the wall Kristin felt the cold wall on her back and instinctively sought refuge in his arms.
Rhett took the opportunity to kiss her neck, pulling away the towel
Now, Kristin was as red as a boiled lobster.
Even though she had given birth to Summer, Kristin had no experience in such matters.
She repelled men so much that she would stiffen up if one came close.
Harriet had often joked with her and asked her to learn how to charm a man, but Kristin never
took it to heart.
But when Kristin found herself in front of Rhett, her usually steady hands began to tremble.
Would he find her lacking?
What would he think when he woke up the next day? Would he despise her?
Would he cancel the contract and demand sho
leave the FitzGerald Group immediately?
Kristin was terrified, but her body seemed to betray her thoughts.
The overwhelming desire to please Rhett shattered her composure, which wasn’t who she was. Tears streamed down her face, born out of fear.
She was afraid Rhett would find her dirty and frivolous, but she couldn’t control herself.
In the heat of the moment, Rhett was indifferent to Kristin’s reaction, her cries fading into the
night.
Evidently, this encounter was far from a treasured memory for Kristin.
It lasted until the early hours, and finally Rhett relented.
Kristin felt like she was on the brink of collapse, her heart racing, panic setting in.
What was she going to do? How could she face Rhett tomorrow?
How about running away?
A voice inside her was screaming for her to flee, urging her to pretend as if nothing had occurred.
Rhett would probably remember nothing when he awoke, so if she just fled, pretending it all hadn’t occurred…
With trembling arms, she tried to sit up, only to realize she was completely drained.
Carefully sliding out of bed, Kristin gathered her clothes strewn on the floor. In a state of panic, she fled the hotel and found refuge in the hotel’s garden, where she curled up and spent the rest of the night hidden in the shadows.
