Whispers Turn to Whimpers: Could He Ever Change?

Chapter 550

Fidelia had no reason to tangle with him anymore.

"No worries, Fidelia. I'm heading out now."

Sherilyn waved at Fidelia, making her way to the foyer to pull open the front door. It was nearly noon, and she was running late for her daily visit to the Sunset Ridge Community. Jenna would be worried by now.

However, as the door swung open, she was greeted by the sight of a young man with a sturdy build standing on the doorstep.

"Ms. Gomez."

"Abel?"

Sherilyn recognized him, though they hadn't spoken much. She knew him as Gilbert's bodyguard.

The Johnson brothers each had bodyguards, something Sherilyn hadn't understood before. She now knew it was because they had been kidnapped as kids.

But what was Abel doing here?

"Ms. Gomez, Mr. Gilbert has instructed that you need to rest at home."

Sherilyn was taken aback. What did he mean by that?

Abel continued, "Ms. Gomez, whatever you need, just command me."

His tone was respectful, yet carried an undeniable sense of coercion.

Sherilyn couldn't help but scoff, "Abel, tell me exactly what Gilbert said." "Well..."

"Out with it!"

"Mr. Gilbert said, 'Keep a close eye on her. She is not to step outside Golden Oak Manor or see anyone!""

Sherilyn was stunned. Not allowed to leave? Was this some kind of house arrest?

What right did he have to do this?

"What if I insist on going out?"

Abel stood firm, like a guardian at the gate, "Ms. Gomez, with me here, you won't be able to leave."

Sherilyn was astounded, at a loss for what to do.

Turning around, she went back inside.

At this hour, it was impossible to make it to Sunset Ridge Community. Jenna, waiting for Sherilyn, must be so disappointed.

But it was okay. Jenna's little brother and sister had already arrived; she would be fine...

"Jenna, just wait a little longer for me!" Sherilyn thought.

Since Sunset Ridge Community was out of the question, what about the TV station? That was her job.

Sherilyn tried to leave again, only to be stopped by Abel.

"Move!" Sherilyn frowned, glaring at him, I'm trying to go to the

station. Are you saying I can't ke

Abel stood his ground, his response firm, "I only follow Mr. Gilbert's orders."

As for Sherilyn's affairs, he wouldn't and couldn't interfere.

Sherilyn laughed in frustration. "Fine, I'll talk to him myself!"

She returned to the living room and immediately called Gilbert. The call went through, but no one answered until it hung up.

Sherilyn dialed again, still no answer. She tried several more times, with the same result!

He was clearly ignoring her!

What now? Seeing no other option, Sherilyn called Lauren.NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.

"Lauren, it's me... I'm not feeling well today and can't make it. I'd like to take a day off."

After hanging up, Sherilyn was at her wit's

What was she to do? All she could do was wait.

He would have to come home in the evening. Ever since they got together, if he was in Sunhaven, he would always return.

But as the evening came...

The housekeeper prepared dinner and called Sherilyn to eat.

Sherilyn waited until the food was cold, yet he never came home.
