Chapter 625
Chapter 625
The car rolled into the Sunset Ridge Community, coming to a gentle stop in front of the apartment complex. Carrying a hefty load, Charles and Gilbert made their way together.
Sophia greeted them at the door, "Mr. Johnson, what brings you here...?"
"Sophia." Gilbert offered a smile, setting down the bags he carried. "Just dropping off some treats for Jenna."
"That's quite a bit."
"Well..." Gilbert seemed distracted, his gaze wandering past Sophia.
Noticing his demeanor, Sophia said, “Jenna's mom is giving her a bath right now. They just started, and it might take a while. Jenna loves her bath time."
"I see..."
Disappointment washed over Gilbert, realizing he wouldn't get to see the mother and daughter.
"I'll just leave these here then, and be on my way."
“Alright, take care on your way out."
After closing the door, Sophia headed back to the bathroom.
Sherilyn, hearing the disturbance, called out, "Sophia, what's up? Was it the building manager or security?"
"It was Mr. Johnson," Sophia replied, "brought over a bunch of goodies."
Chuckling, she added, "Seems like his mind was on something... or someone else."
Sherilyn paused, then asked, "He wanted to see Jenna, didn't he?"
"I suspect it's more than that..." Sophia smirked knowingly, "From what I see, he's here for you."
"Sophia!" Sherilyn's eyes widened in shock. "Don't start with that."
"How am I wrong?" Sophia's grin deepened. "At my age, I see these things clearer than you. Just wait and see."
She bent down to stroke Jenna's head in the tub, "Seems like Jenna was right. Anyone who meets your mom ends up liking her..."
Then, something struck Sophia, her expression turning concerned, "But, Mr. Johnson mentioned having a girlfriend before, didn't he? Oh no!"
Slapping her thigh, she exclaimed, "Sherilyn, well... Mr. Johnson is not a good man!”Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
Sherilyn... remained silent.
Meanwhile, Mr. Johnson, unaware he had been 'rejected', sat in his car, noticing a vehicle tailing them, and instructed Charles.
"Shake him off."
"Understood."
With a nod, Charles drove through the bustling city streets before finally pulling up to the Platinum Pearl Club.
Strangely, the tail seemed content just to follow without making a move.
"What's he up to?"
Gilbert frowned, murmuring under his breath, "Drive into the garage and stop. You take Allen and Abel and go ahead."
"Mr. Gilbert." Charles started to protest, sensing the danger.
"Just do it!" Gilbert insisted, leaving no room for debate.
"Right." Charles reluctantly complied.
After entering the garage, Charles was the first to leave the car, taking Allen and Abel with him. However, they didn't go far, keeping a watchful eye on Gilbert from a distance.
Soon after, Gilbert stepped out of the vehicle.

Dialing Yates Elliott, he chuckled, "Enough chit-chat, I'm almost there..."
Distracted, he noticed a figure creeping up behind him.
The footsteps weren't Charles' or his companions', which meant it had to be the pursuer...
Gilbert smirked, silently, before

The stranger, clad in a black hoodie, had his face obscured. Gilbert reached out, pulling down the hood.
"I knew it was you!"
The face revealed was indeed the one captured by the security footage.
"Mr. Gilbert!"
With his arms restrained and his face pressed against the wall, the man was immobilized.
"You got it all wrong! I meant no harm!"
"No harm?"
Gilbert scoffed, "Sticking to me like a
