Wife by Day, Boss by Night

Chapter 168

Chapter 168

Sometimes, watching these little moments of joy could brighten up the mood.

She turned with a smile, only to find King standing right behind her, his gaze tenderly fixed on

her.

The evening breeze tousled her bangs, and King reached out to gently smooth them back into place.

As he withdrew his hand, he seamlessly took hold of her right hand, enveloping it in the warmth of his

own.

“Let’s grab a bite to eat,” he said, leading her toward the restaurant.

Natalie followed, her eyes lingering on their intertwined hands.

After a few seconds, as she thought of pulling her hand back, King tightened his grip, his determination

palpable.

He had come with a purpose–to discuss the pending proposal from their last meeting, a matter of

significant importance. Natalie knew it was time to give him a response, yes or no. If she could, she

would be his fiancée from this day forward.

She and King were childhood friends. Growing up, their families were only a few fences apart, and her

grandmother, when she was alive, enjoyed visiting the Weston family, often taking Natalie along to play.

Natalie remembered seeing the handsome boy who would practice the violin with such dedication in his

study, and the music was always so enchanting.

King’s grandma would boast about her grandson’s achievements with pride, whether it was winning a NôvelDrama.Org © content.

music competition or taking his exams. He was the good boy every parent wished

for.

“If Natalie could be half as accomplished as Kellan one day, I’d be more than happy,” her grandmother

had said countless times, to which Natalie could not take any longer.

“There’s no need for that,” responded King’s grandma, affectionately patting Natalie’s head. “If Kellan

and Natalie were to be a couple, joining our families. Wouldn’t that be just as well?” Natalie was a child

then and didn’t quite grasp what ‘becoming one family‘ meant, but she remembered her grandmother

nodding enthusiastically. “Yes, that would be wonderful!”

Natalie also nodded while the adults laughed together, and Kellan watched her with a smile.

Time passed, and Natalie left the Wright family. Rumor had it that the Weston family had prospered and

moved away!

Later, Natalie encountered King at Bluestar and learned through Uriah that the Weston family had

fallen from grace overnight. Their business collapsed, and the father took his life while

the mother went mad and drowned herself in the sea.

Uriah had been managing a vineyard in Bluestar, a joint venture between King’s grandfather and a

friend. King’s grandfather had secretly transferred the shares to Kellan.

The once illustrious Weston family vanished overnight, leaving Kellan as the sole survivor.

When they reached the restaurant’s entrance, Natalie suddenly dragged Kellan to a halt.

He looked at her, puzzled.

Kellan paused, then replied gently, “Go on.”

Natalie knew what she was about to say, and the clarity made her even more anxious.

She had signed a one–year contract with Brian and planned to come clean to Kellan.
