Worship The Ground You Walk On

Chapter 72 The Beginning of the Counterattack

Chapter 72 The Beginning of the Counterattack

When Kim arrived at the Evans family old mansion in the suburbs, it was already seven in the evening.

The time that she chose to drive happened to be the peak hour due to people getting off work, so she

was stuck in the jam for more than one hour.

By the time she arrived, Hanna had already left, leaving Claudia all alone by herself. She was

sweeping and cleaning the empty room before sitting on the swing, looking forlorn and sentimental.

“It’s that little bitch who brings you here, right?” Kim approached her and passed her the milk tea she Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g

had just bought.

Claudia took the milk tea and took a sip from it.

Kim sat on the other swing and sighed, “That woman is really capable! Not only did she harm you, but

also she made you unable to hate her and you even need to thank her! She really did a good job!”

Claudia looked at her and frowned helplessly. She gestured with her hand, ‘Actually, she didn’t really

do anything wrong, you know. She’s really a good person!’

“Alas…”

Kim looked at her, feeling completely speechless. All she could do was to let out a sigh.

‘It’s true. Hanna never hurt me in any way. She just wanted to help me, but her ways were too extreme.

You can’t really say that she’s wrong!’ Claudia was still gesturing with her hands.

Kim shut her eyes, and only replied her after a long time, “Are you that stupid? Can’t you see it? Even if

Hanna is not putting up a front or an act, her intentions are not pure to say the least!”

Claudia was at a loss for words.

It’s not like she was completely dense and oblivious.

She was not really a fool, she just didn’t want to go into that guessing game. She didn’t want to watch

her every steps and be on guard against everyone. It was too tiring and difficult to be always calculative

and be scheming. She found it unnecessary to do those things.

Hanna loved Ben.

She knew that well.

And Claudia knew too that Hanna was a good match for Ben in every aspect of their lives. They were

like a match made in heaven, and she was the third wheel here, an obstruction in between them.

But Kim would never understand such a conflicting and contradicting feeling.

Every time she saw Hanna treating her well or treating Conrad well, it felt like a steel knife was

stabbing at her heart. The pain reached a certain degree, but she didn’t know how to put it into words.

“Anyway, my stupid Claudia, you must always be wary of Hanna. She is no ordinary woman. She can

kill without using a knife, and if you don’t keep a close eye, your husband and child might suddenly

become hers one day!”

Kim wasn’t being too exaggerated. Claudia’s past few experience of interacting with Hanna gave

Claudia a deep impression about how a woman could be so scheming and manipulative in such a way

that she could use Ben’s affection to slowly ease herself into Ben’s life by not being competitive and

being simply gentle, resourceful and elegant. She was like a goody two-shoes silently accompanied

Ben. No matter how composed a man could be, he would be lured and attracted by her someday!”

Claudia revealed a faint smile, and only she knew how bitter that smile of hers actually was.

With the conclusion of the auction of the Evans family old mansion, the CCM project which ignited a

great competition among companies was able to get acquired by Ben without a hitch.

The CCM project focused on daily essential products and they had great collaborative efforts with huge

international conglomerates. From the perspective of value or promotional purposes, the project was a

huge bargain and selling point for the Crawford Group.

Just when this project was the talk of the town and the Crawford Group was the center of attention, a

GK project was born in the nation’s commerce industry, which was a project that combined electronics

and chemicals. The core of this project was proposed by one of the professionals in the nation, and

they garnered high praise from the K Group of France, which invested two billion dollars into the

research and development of the project. They were looking for a collaborator in the nation.

This project was like a thunder to the nation, and while the aftereffects of the CCM project was still

resonating, the brand new GK project garnered the attention of many international companies as well

as the companies in the nation.

Even in the Crawford Group, Ben had sent Nate to gather all information about the GK project. His

ultimate goal was to discover the key person in the research of this project. However, after digging into

it for a few days, Nate gained nothing.

“Mr. Crawford, rumor has it that the person is a hacker. He’s very mysterious, and he goes by the code

name ‘S’. I can’t find out any other information about him.”

Nate was very perplexed. The Crawford Group had a special way to collect and source information, but

they could not find anything more about this person though they've tried their best. They had no access

to information about this mysterious S. Who could that person be? This person had hidden himself

extremely discreetly.

“S…”

Ben leaned back on his chair and his long fingers were drumming the desk.

Nate was standing next to him with his hand straight. He added, “If we can’t find out about the identity

of this S, then Mr. Crawford, is there any need for us to join the GK project?”

The fact that they couldn’t find out anything about S signified his hidden identity in a huge, dark vortex.

Whether this was something good or bad, nobody knew at this point.

He took a cigarette and slowly placed it into his mouth.

As he took a deep drag on the cigarette, his handsome face looked hazy in the smoke he blew out to a

distance. His dark eyes appeared to be cold.

Despite everything, he was someone who had braved through storms in the business world.

Businessmen only went after profits, which was something that wouldn’t change. The GK project can

give the Crawford Group profits which was hundred folds their normal revenue, and the project

happened to dabble into the world of electronics and chemical, which was the Crawford Group’s

advantage. There was no way he wouldn’t be enticed!

“Mr. Crawford, you must think twice! We have already invested ten billion into the CCM project, if we

joined the GK project now, our cash flow would suffer!”

Nate didn’t disclose everything. Previously, he had settled Hanna’s debt that she bid for the Evans

family old mansion.

In just a month’s time, a huge amount of cash had exchanged hands. This was not something an

ordinary company would be able to withstand.

Ben said nothing, and his usual handsome, cold face was indifferent, his eyes still hiding something

complicated within them. There was only a moment of hesitation.

In the other side of the city, in the bedroom on the second floor of the Crawford mansion.

Conrad had already slept and Claudia was sitting in front of a computer, fully focusing on her work with

glasses.

A chat room was being displayed now. She was talking to the president of the K Group from France,

and she was able to type in French very smoothly.

“Miss S, who on earth are you? If it’s possible, when I visit City A, can we arrange for a meet-up?” The

other party asked.

Claudia lifted her lips faintly, and her lively fingers were dancing on the keyboard like fairies. She

replied, “Sorry. You just need to remember our promise.”

“Of course, I will. However, I want to know, what is the reason you are doing this? Is it for money? Or is

it for… someone?” The other party’s suspicion seemed to be ignited.

To put it more precisely, it was better to call that curiosity.

Claudia stared at the chat room on the screen and slowly sank into a daze. When she came back to

her senses again, she only replied, “It’s the former.”

Then, she ended the conversation abruptly and logged off the social media. She opened some

documents stored in the computer expertly and all of them were related to the GK project. She had

done this for one month straight, which took a lot of her efforts.

She devoted all her efforts to this work, trying her hardness to achieve it.

She knew that he would be interested in this project.

As long as he was interested, she could fulfil one of her wishes.
