Chapter 89 She Will Be Fine
Chapter 89 She Will Be Fine
It was a stormy day.
After ten hours of flight, Claudia got off the plane and received a warm welcome from the heavy rain.
The sky was gloomy and cloudy. It was only at 5 pm but the city was already covered by the darkness,
with thunder occasionally struck and lit up the sky.
She took a taxi back to the mansion.
However, she didn’t see Conrad and anybody else in the house. The room was empty and dusty like
nobody was living in here.
She sent a message to the steward but didn’t receive his reply for a long time.
Claudia brought the suitcase upstairs and put the luggage back in place. Then, she started to think
about Conrad worriedly on the sofa. When she was about to send another message to the steward,
she saw the reply from him.
“I didn't expect you to come back so early, Mrs. Crawford. We are still in the Maldives with madam and
young master.”
The Maldives?!
Claudia was stunned. When she and Ben were in France, Winifred brought Conrad to the Maldives.
But he was scarcely a year old! Why did she bring a baby to take a long flight?
She couldn’t think more about that and just urged them to go back as soon as possible. When texting
the message, she was cautious about the choice of words to prevent annoying Winifred again.
Soon, the steward told her that they would be back the day after tomorrow, and she was relieved.
Then, she cleaned up the room carefully and sorted out the toys in the baby room. After a few hours,
she felt tired and went downstairs.
The house had been empty for days and had nothing left to eat.
So she went to the supermarket nearby and did some shopping. When she was pushing the shopping
cart, it hit another cart accidentally.
She bowed her head immediately to express her regret and moved her cart backward.
But the man didn’t leave her alone for such a trifle and scolded her in a low voice, “Don’t you know that
you need to say sorry when you hit someone? Are you dumb?”
She lowered her head embarrassingly and was about to move on, but she heard a voice of a lady.
“You are right, Tim. She is dumb indeed!”
She didn’t even need to take a look at her and knew who was the lady.
After all, they grew up with each other, though didn’t get on well.
Amber was wearing a pink dress with a pair of high heels and looked pretty and delicate.
However, she was still as arrogant as she used to be.
“I heard that you were in France a few days ago. Why do you come back soon?” Amber approached
and ridiculed her.
Claudia lowered her eyes and didn’t respond.
But Amber never lost any chance to satirize her and said, “Did Ben feel that you were so annoying and
left you immediately?”
Once he heard the name of Ben, Tim asked her immediately, “Ben? You mean Mr. Crawford?”
“Yeah! I am familiar with him! I can introduce you to him next time!”
The man was overjoyed and thanked her over and over again.
Claudia felt bored about this and was about to leave, but Amber yelled behind her.
“I know why Ben went back to the country earlier and left you in Paris! He did this for Hanna!”
She paused for a second with her fists clenched.
When she was still in Paris, she had collected some information and knew why Ben went back earlier.
It was about Hanna.
The vice president of her company misappropriated all the funds and ran away, framing her up for all
his crimes.
When she was in trouble, Ben wouldn’t just sit and watch.
“See, once his ex-girlfriend was in need, he left you behind and went back immediately! You can’t even
keep your husband by your side! What a loser, Claudia!” Amber laughed out loud and looked at her Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.
contemptuously.
Claudia took a deep breath and started to step away.
Looking after her, Amber raised her voice and insinuated, “Do you know what is the most pathetic
woman like, Tim? You just find a good example!”
“She must be a woman who is dumb and married to a husband she doesn’t deserve, and try to keep
her husband and marriage by giving birth to his child. How pathetic! How inferior! Even a mouse in the
sewer is better than her!”
To keep the marriage by giving birth to his child…
The words hurt Claudia like a sword stabbing into her heart.
In the sea view villa downtown, Ben was taking care of Hanna. Because all the estates of the Lewis's
were repossessed by the bank, Hanna had no place to go and had to live in Ben’s house.
When the case was still pending, Hanna was not allowed to leave the house and had to accept the
investigation of the police.
Nate also deployed a security team around the villa to protect her.
In the room, Ben was sitting at the window, while Hanna was sleeping soundly in the bed.
She had been staying awake for 48 hours in the police office and was exhausted. But when she arrived
at the house, she even refused his suggestion of having a sleep. She was too worried about the
company to sleep.
Then, he put two sleeping pills into a cup of milk and handed it to her. It was only then that she felt
sleepy and slept until the next morning.
When she woke up, she was attracted by his tall figure before she could look around the unfamiliar
room.
She raised herself up from the bed, put the quilt aside, and rubbed her eyes gently. Then, she said in a
soft voice, “Ben…”
The man stood up and walked to her, “Do you feel better? Or you want to have more sleep?”
“Have you been here and stayed with me for a whole night? Why didn’t you go home?” Hanna looked
at him with her sleepy eyes, “Where is Claudia? Is she still in France?”
Speaking of Claudia, a mix of feelings rushed into Ben’s mind and made him start to recall the video on
the phone.
He had been watching the video repeatedly on the plane until the computer shut down due to the low
battery.
That silly girl walked miles away on a stormy night just for saving his life.
He frowned and stroked her head with his hand, “I only care about you now.”
“Don’t worry, Ben. I’m fine. Even if we can’t catch Robert and I have to take the charges from the
police, I will only be sentenced to a few years with the help of your lawyers. But Claudia is your wife,
and you should care more about her.”
Hanna got off the bed and dragged him out of the room, “Send her a message and arrange a plane for
her when she is about to come back!”
Ben walked for a few stepped and stopped, which made Hanna stop either, “She will be fine. I believe
her.”
She looked at his firm eyes and confused, “What makes you so certain about that?”
