Chapter 54
Freya saw Liora and greeted her with a cold expression, “What do we have to talk about?”
Liora replied, “Let’s discuss a deal. If you’re willing to give Elijah to me, I can help you become an official doctor at the general hospital. I remember you said your dream was to become the chief doctor at the hospital.”
“That was before,” Freya rejected outright.
Her dream hadn’t changed.
It wouldn’t change.
She just disdained any contact with Liora.
There would never be any cooperation between them.
She harbored only hatred towards Liora.
Liora persisted, “I know you hate me, but what’s done is done. Even if you kill me, it won’t bring back your child. It’s better to use me to achieve your dream.”
Liora knew about Freya’s miscarriage. Generally, with twins, if one miscarried, it was difficult for the other to survive. Naturally, she assumed Freya lost both children.
Freya looked at her, “Liora, not everyone is like you, using any means to achieve their goals.”
Saying this, she turned to leave.
Liora bit her lip, feeling deeply unsatisfied. She didn’t want to miss out on Elijah. Clearly, Providence had given her a chance, letting her replace Freya that night. She should have become Elijah’s wife. The young mistress of the Silverton family, owning the man who was utterly mesmerizing. All of this was ruined by Freya, a woman who stole everything that should have belonged to her!
“Freya, don’t pretend. I know you don’t like Elijah. The intimacy you showed with him before was deliberate to provoke me. The gap between me and Elijah was because of a misunderstanding. He still has me in his heart.”
Freya was impatient. She turned back to look at Liora. Seeing Liora, a sudden thought crossed her mind.
Maybe this woman could be used?
If Elijah and Liora reconciled, could she smoothly leave?
Thinking up to this point, Freya started pondering.
“Do you like Elijah?” Freya asked knowingly.
Liora coldly smiled, countering, “Aren’t you?”
Freya’s heart skipped a beat for a moment. Admittedly, there was a fleeting attraction before.This content © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
But now she was clear-headed.
Did Elijah, that man, even know love?
She had probably been blinded by Elijah’s occasional kindness. But now she saw clearly.
“I’m not interested in him. I can help you, though.” Freya swallowed her pride. Because she couldn’t bring back the child she lost. But, to protect the one in her womb, she had to leave Elijah. For now, she would ‘collude’ with Liora.
Liora was skeptical. After all, they were like fire and water.
“Are you really that kind-hearted?” Liora asked.
“Since you don’t believe, I won’t force it.” Said Freya. Saying this, she was about to leave.
She understood Liora.
Liora probably loved Elijah intensely. Otherwise, why would she go to such lengths, even faking a pregnancy?
“Wait a minute.” Liora stepped forward, blocking Freya. The looseness in her was within Freya’s expectations. She wouldn’t be willing to let go of a chance to get Elijah.
As expected, Liora came to find Freya because she overheard the conversation between Freya and Orion in the ward. It seemed like Freya wanted to leave but Liora was uncertain. So, she came to test Freya.
Now that Freya agreed, it seemed like she genuinely wanted to leave Elijah? Freya was determined to leave. Perhaps Providence had given her another chance, so she couldn’t let it slip away.
“I believe you, and I apologize for what happened before,” Liora said, willing to compromise for her goals.
Given their previous conflicts, it was a considerable concession. Her thick-skinned apology was beyond comparison. Freya, wanting to leave, didn’t expose the insincerity on the surface.
“In that case, I’ll inquire about Elijah’s interests and let you know whether you can win his heart again. It depends on your ability,” Freya said.
“Alright.”
“What reward do you want?” Liora asked.
Freya shrugged, “Make him fall in love with you. That’ll be my reward.”
Confident, Liora said, “I’ll make sure he falls for me.”
Freya gave her a faint look. She could almost foresee the miserable life Liora would have with Elijah when she got beaten up by that violent man every three days.
…
Freya stood on the hospital steps, hailing a cab. Because of the online rumors stirred up by Yolanda Steele’s video, some people pointed fingers at her.
She ignored them all.
She knew that in such situations, she needed to have a strong heart.
She stood tall and straight, casting doubt on the authenticity of the video content.
Normally, guilty people wouldn’t be so confident and open, right?
A taxi approached.
Freya walked over, opened the door, and gave the address of the villa.
…
She entered the house.
Linda was cleaning the windows. Seeing Freya return, she hurried over, “Are you okay? I was really worried when I saw you faint and being taken to the hospital.”
Freya said, “I’m fine, sorry for making you worry.”
Linda sighed helplessly, “You really…”
“Your clothes, I’ve put them away in the closet.”
Linda figured out why Elijah was angry this time. It was probably because Freya took luggage to leave. Those clothes were arranged by Elijah.
“You know Mr Silverton’s temper. Don’t provoke him. Don’t tell me you’re planning to travel with your luggage.” Linda tried to advise her.
Freya couldn’t explain, “You know about my marriage with him…”
“Ah, emotions need to be cultivated!” Linda interrupted her.
She thought Freya, having married into the family, should play the role of a proper wife.
Freya just smiled, not saying anything.
She couldn’t explain.
The fewer people who knew about her pregnancy, the safer she felt.
In her awareness, the more people who knew, the easier it was to reach Elijah’s ears.
Regarding Linda, she had to keep silent.
“Linda.” Freya pulled Linda to sit on the sofa.
Linda, responsible for Elijah’s daily life in the villa, was sure to be well aware of his interests and hobbies.
Linda smiled, “You seem to be in much better spirits.”
Freya also smiled. She felt a bit embarrassed.
“Linda, taking care of Elijah, you must know his preferences well, right?”
Linda blinked unexpectedly, as if surprised that Freya would ask this, “What are you up to?”
Freya chuckled, “Linda, you suggested I build a good relationship with him. I should know his preferences, right?”
Linda patted her hand, “That’s right!”
Knowing that Freya was intentionally trying to please Elijah, Linda naturally told her everything she knew, “Besides work, he enjoys outdoor activities. He doesn’t like socializing much and isn’t fond of restaurant food. However, due to some social obligations, he has to eat out…”
Freya took notes of everything Linda said.
“What outdoor activities does he specifically engage in and where?” Freya asked.
“For that, you should ask Xander. He knows more than I do,” Linda said. “I know he likes light meals, especially stir-fried broccoli…”
Freya jotted down the information, “Got it.”
“I’m going grocery shopping. Are you cooking tonight?” Linda asked, assuming Freya would cook for Elijah after asking about his preferences.
Freya thought, she definitely wouldn’t cook for Elijah.
“Maybe. He might not come back tonight.” Freya said.
“How do you know?”
Freya mischievously replied, “I guessed.”
Linda, “…”
Freya excused herself, claiming fatigue, and went upstairs. She took out her phone and sent a message to Liora.
[Elijah likes light food, especially stir-fried broccoli. You might want to learn some cooking skills.]
After sending the message, she lay down, ready to stretch.
Just then, the door was pushed open.
She sat up abruptly.
