Chapter 81
The echo of Izzy Green’s voice had barely dissipated when Jasper Green’s hand struck.
Izzy Green stood there, stunned. Never before had her father physically disciplined her! Tears of injustice welled up in her eyes.
“Why did you hit me?”
“You wanted to be hit, didn’t you? If you can slap yourself, why can’t I slap you?!” Jasper Green retorted angrily. “I’ve never been so embarrassed before. My reputation has been completely tarnished. And you have the audacity to cry?”
Izzy Green, bewildered, questioned, “Dad, how did you know I slapped myself?”
“What do you think Elijah is?” Jasper Green stared at his daughter. “I can’t fathom why you would do such a thing.”
“I just couldn’t stand that woman. You promised to introduce me to Elijah,” Izzy Green choked out.
Jasper Green was almost fainting from anger.
“Yes, I genuinely want you to marry Elijah Silverton. It would be fantastic if you genuinely liked him. But the condition is, Elijah has to be interested in you. If he’s not, what’s the point of my introduction? Slapping yourself and forcing that woman to apologize, what do you gain from it? I genuinely can’t comprehend why you would do something so foolish.”NôvelDrama.Org exclusive content.
“If she’s not around, I think I have a chance.” Izzy Green whispered.
Jasper Green’s face darkened. “So you hired someone to kidnap her?”
“No, I didn’t.” Izzy Green shook her head. She wanted Freya to disappear, but she hadn’t found the right opportunity yet.
“And even now, you won’t admit it?” Jasper Green felt he had spoiled his daughter too much. She was acting like a fool now!
“Study abroad!” Jasper Green declared sternly.
“I won’t go,” Izzy Green refused.
“You’ve messed up so badly, and you won’t leave. What do you want to do? Do you want me to be ruined because of you?”
Jasper Green couldn’t help but scold her.
Izzy Green cried, and Jasper Green was irritated. “If you won’t leave, then apologize to that woman. Let everyone know that you slapped yourself for a man. Do you think it’s embarrassing? This is truly embarrassing.”
Izzy Green didn’t want to apologize to Freya. She couldn’t lower her face. Freya would definitely mock her.
“If I leave, will everything be over?”
“If you leave, I can handle it,” Jasper Green said, looking at his daughter. “There are plenty of excellent men in the world. Even without Elijah, there are others. Don’t tie yourself to one person. Learn, explore the world outside, meet more people. Don’t embarrass me again because of you, okay?”
The embarrassment deeply stung Izzy Green. It was the loudest fall she had experienced in her life.
“I will listen to you,” she said tearfully.
Jasper Green calmed down. “That’s good. Let your mom help you pack, and leave in the next couple of days.”
“Sorry, Dad, for causing you trouble.” Izzy Green wiped away her tears.
Jasper Green knew his daughter had never faced setbacks. She had lost to a woman with a less privileged background, and that was why she did something reckless.
“Learn to be patient. Don’t always come up with absurd ideas.” Jasper Green advised.
As his daughter left, Izzy Green’s mother was reluctant to see her go. Jasper Green felt the same, but his daughter had many flaws that needed refining. He had to be tough.
“I’ll arrange for you to attend the best business school in Country M. Study hard there, and when you succeed in your studies, you can come back and help me manage the company.” Jasper Green said.
Izzy nodded. She knew she had to be outstanding to attract outstanding people. She couldn’t let her father down.
“Dad.”
She hugged her father.
…
Jasper Green saw his daughter off at the airport. Though extremely reluctant, he had to let go.
After leaving the airport, he took a document and went to see Elijah.
Firstly, he apologized for his daughter’s actions. To show sincerity, he presented a land transfer contract he had obtained many years ago, now located in a prime area. He knew Elijah wanted it. So now, he offered it.
“I can give it to you at the price I bought it. Although it has appreciated several times over the years, my daughter did something wrong. As a father, I have to pay a price for her mistakes. Of course, it’s also my sincerity.”
Elijah looked at him.
Jasper Green indeed loved his daughter.
“I heard that you sent your daughter away?” Elijah knew so quickly?
“She was making a fool of herself, embarrassing me. I sent her out to gain some experience, to avoid causing me trouble,” Jasper Green smiled apologetically. “If necessary, I can apologize to Miss Stone on behalf of my daughter.”
He had already gone this far, and Elijah shouldn’t hold a grudge. Otherwise, it would show a lack of magnanimity.
“Your love for your daughter is profound, and I can’t deprive you of your compassionate heart.”
“I’ve noted your favor.” Jasper Green had compensated with a considerable amount of money, but he mentioned remembering the favor because his daughter’s actions were truly disgraceful. If it spread, he would be unable to continue in social circles. He couldn’t afford to lose that face. What he did was not just about resolving the situation. His daughter attempted kidnapping, a criminal offense. He couldn’t let her have a criminal record. So, what he did was not too much.
His attitude was acceptable.
Elijah couldn’t be too ruthless. When it came to giving face, he had to give a little. In the same social circle, they had to face each other sooner or later.
Elijah signed the contract. “You have to ensure that such things don’t happen again in the future.”
“I promise,” Jasper Green affirmed. “I know my daughter well. You can rest assured.”
At this point, they could only shake hands and reconcile.
…
Freya returned home after work and found a box on the table. She asked, “Linda, what’s in the box on the coffee table?”
“I don’t know. Mr Silverton brought it back when he came home,” Linda replied.
Freya was curious but didn’t open it casually. As she was about to go upstairs, Elijah came down.
“On the table is a gift for you. Take a look.”
Freya was a bit surprised. “A gift for me?”
“Yes.”
Why would he give her something for no reason?
Freya felt it was a bit unusual.
“Open it.”
Elijah sat down on the sofa.
Freya walked over, looked at the box on the table, hesitated for a moment, and then reached out to open it.
