Chapter 509
Chapter 509
When Lucille hung up the phone, she thought she would cry and be heartbroken, but she was
surprisingly calm.
It was as if after going through a life- and-death struggle, she had let go of Franklin.
He was simply someone living in her past.
But even Lucille herself did not realize that she had been holding the phone, staring at it...
She seemed to be expecting something.
The phone laid there and did not ring again.
When she was having lunch, she heard the sound of footsteps coming from the corridor.
In the next second, Abby appeared in the ward. Her temperament was almost as imposing as the last
time when Lucille was hospitalized.
"You have pissed me off!"
Seeing that she was actually eating leisurely at this time, Abby had no way to vent her anger.
Lucille's expression remained unchanged. She picked up the plate in front of her and asked, "Have you
eaten yet?"
"You still have the appetite to eat? What happened to you yesterday? How dare you try to kill yourself
when I'm not home?" ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .
Abby walked to Lucille's bedside and scooped up the tray on the small table in front of her. She raised
her eyebrows and asked with a hint of blame.
"It was an accident..." Lucille mumbled.
"An accident? If I hadn't gone back, you would have died, do you know that?"
"Well, thank you."
Somehow, Lucille was calm when they talked about the matter that happened the day before as if it
was a century away.
Her indifferent attitude was completely different from Abby's.
Abby felt even more uneasy seeing her like this. She placed the tray back to its original place and sat
on the bed, asking earnestly, "So, what the hell happened?"
"I did the 4- D color ultrasound check- up yesterday, and I found that my child has a cleft lip."
Lucille did not intend to hide this matter from her.
"A cleft lip? It can't be!" Abby was a bit shocked, but she continued immediately, "You tried to kill
yourself for this matter? Isn't it just a cleft lip? I will pay for its surgery!"
"No..." Lucille shook her head.
"Then what's the matter?"
"Last night, I received Natasha's message through WhatsApp..."
"What did that b*tch say?"
Abby knew that there was nothing good when it came to Natasha.
"It seems that she is together with Franklin now."
Originally, Lucille felt that since she had struggled with death, she wouldn't mind about Franklin
anymore. However, out of expectation, she still felt hollow when she talked about this.
Even breathing became bitter.
"Are you kidding me? He is really blind." Abby couldn't help cursing.
"Yeah, he is."
Natasha had done such a thing during the dinner at their house last time. Lucille always felt that
Franklin should have a bottom line.
However, she didn't expect that he really didn't even have one.
Abby saw that her reaction to this matter was different from usual. Lucille looked calm and indifferent,
which made her even more worried.
She comforted Lucille hurriedly. "They're just a b*tch and a b*stard, which is a perfect match. Don't get
mad because of them. It's not worth it. Franklin is just an a*shole who can f*ck any woman. He's really
not picky! He could even pick those from the garbage can. I'm overwhelmed!"
In the past, Franklin's companions were all gorgeous and sexy.
Natasha really had no place to compete with those women. He must be really blind if he took a fancy to
her.
"Forget it. It's none of my business anymore."
Lucille tried to hide the sadness. She lowered her head and focused on her food.
She didn't lose much blood as she was sent to the hospital in time. She was discharged from the
hospital after three days.
While Abby was handling the discharge procedure for her, the nurse gossiped and asked, "Where's
your husband?"
"He's dead."
Abby replied decisively.
In the past few days, the nurses found that Lucille had always been alone. Except for Abby, there was
no one else who came to visit her.
"I see."
The nurses believed it, and someone said, "No wonder the baby has a cleft lip. The mother's change of
emotions will affect the fetus' growth."
Hearing this, Abby finally understood why the baby would have a cleft lip.
After she completed the procedure, she was about to leave when someone called out behind her. "Miss
Abby."
"Huh?" Abby turned around and saw a young nurse. "What's the matter?"
The nurse shook her head, "It's not a big deal. Lucille could have been suffering from antenatal
depression. Generally, the pregnant lady who suffers from this disease might try to kill themselves
again. We have met several of them here. Hence, please pay more attention to her symptoms."
"Okay..." Abby looked at the nurse and felt a bit confused. "I didn't expect you to be so concerned
about her."
This sort of concern was somewhat beyond the normal range.
The nurse pointed to her own mouth and explained, "In fact, I had a cleft lip. My family abandoned me
when I was bom, so I sympathized with her baby. I hope that she can be kind to her child."
"You had a cleft lip as well?"
"Yeah, you can't tell it, right? Medical science nowadays is so advanced. I can assure you that it's
unnoticeable after having surgery in the future."
The nurse told Abby what she had told Lucille.
Abby nodded. "Don't worry. I'll keep an eye on her. I won't let her do that again."
After hearing her promise, the young nurse left with peace of mind.
After leaving the hospital, Abby drove Lucille home. When they arrived, a middle- aged woman in a
brown jacket stood at the door with a large suitcase next to her.
"Marie?"
Lucille recognized that person at once.
Marie should have been in Franklin's house. Why was she here?
"It was Mr. Moore who sent me here. I didn't know your phone number, so I had to wait here." Marie
rubbed her hands. She must have stood there for a long time.
"Let's go in first."
Lucille was pregnant. When she wanted to help Marie to carry the luggage, her offer was refused.
After the three of them went upstairs, Marie sat on the sofa and Lucille poured her a glass of warm
water.
Marie looked at Lucille's belly and hesitated for a moment before she asked, "Mr. Moore told me that
you have ended your pregnancy, so he asked me to leave..."
"Well, I lied to him."
Lucille sat down as well. She drooped her eyes and crossed her arms. She did not know how to explain
it.
Abby couldn't help saying, "Marie, fortunately, you came here today. If you came yesterday, you would
have been waiting for a long time. I just brought Lucille back from the hospital."
Abby and Lucille had known each other since they were young as she often visited Lucille's house.
Naturally, she knew Marie.
"Abby," Lucille wanted to interrupt her, but she had already said it.
"Back from the hospital? What happened?" Marie was anxious when she heard that Lucille had been
hospitalized.
"Franklin is such a b*stard. He actually..."
When Abby mentioned Franklin, she was burning in rage. She failed to hold back her anger and told
Marie everything, including the baby's matter and what happened between him and Natasha.
After hearing this, Marie felt distressed. She held Lucille's hand and said sincerely, "Miss Lucille, if you
don't think I'm too old and work quite slow, let me serve you. You don't have to pay me."
