You, Me and Our Genius Twins

Chapter 456

Chapter 456

Leigh twirled with the spoon while she prompted, "By the way, how is this cousin you're saying related to Penny?"

Austin knew that Leigh loathed Penny the most. He honestly didn't want to answer this question, but he had to, and there was no point in lying since she would find out anyway. So, he answered honestly, "He is Harvey Walker, my uncle's son."

"Oh." Leigh giggled. "He is Penny's nephew." Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.

He hurriedly tried to salvage the situation, "Leigh, our uncles have severed ties with Mom! During that incident, Mom exploited Grandma too, so my uncles could never forgive her for her doings. Ever since that incident, they had never seen her again. Harvey also has nothing to do with Mom. Mom loves Ava the most. She doesn't bat an eye at Justin and me, let alone my cousin."

Leigh snorted coldly and mocked, "Do you expect me to believe what you say?"

"Leigh, I swear that what I said is true!" He blabbered anxiously, "Our uncles and the cousins have nothing to do with Mom now..."

Leigh continued to ridicule with a sneer painted across her lips, "Penny is one of the Walker Family. Do you think they can sever ties just like that? Even now, you're still addressing her Mom, aren't you?"

Austin parted his lips to refute her, but he couldn't say a word. She was right. He couldn't argue against her.

No matter what Penny had done, she was his mother who birthed him and raised him. No matter how

heinous Penny was and how the whole world could despise her, he and Justin couldn't do the same.

"Harvey's life is at stake now. Please help him, please," he begged her.

"Well, I can help you..." Leigh dragged out and slowly enunciated her words, "I work for Oasis Law Office. Our office is open for business, so of course, we have to entertain our customers. Our motto is that we will accept jobs in all aspects as long as it's legal."

Austin immediately understood the meaning behind her words and accepted, "No problem. You don't have to worry about the consultation fee. As long as you can come over to check on him, we'll pay you whether you can cure him or not."

"Wonderful." Leigh listed her conditions. "If I can cure him, the consultation fee is 20 million. One million if I can't. No bargaining! Also, since he is part of the Walker Family, they will be footing the bill. I won't accept your money and don't try to trick me. If I learn that you lied to me, I'll personally place your name on the blacklist and will never accept any more patients referred to by you. Give my number to the Walker Family. Let them come to me."

Before Austin could say a word edgewise, she ended the call.

Lucas watched the scene, utterly intrigued. A capable person was always so awe-inspiring.

However, Sebastian was the most terrifying and domineering person because Leigh worked for him despite her outstanding capability.

Awesome!

She sipped her wine as she ran over the conversation in her head. Finally, she dismissed those thoughts with a shake of her head and sighed with feeling, "Life is so funny. The more you refuse to meet someone, the more they will pester you. I despise everyone related to Penny, but my biological brother, Austin, insists on asking me to check on one of the Walker Family. Argh, this sucks!"

She wouldn't have been bothered had it not been for Austin. Still, Austin was genuinely nice, and she had a higher tolerance for kind people. Hence, she decided to check on this cousin for his sake.

Nonetheless, dealing with the Walker Family would affect her mental health, so it was only fair that she made them pay for her services with a little extra.

Besides beautiful things, money was the only thing in this world that could make her happy.

Nope, wait a minute. Money should be first and the beautiful thing second. But the beautiful thing can take first place if it's someone like Lucas.

Leigh cupped her chin and tapped her cheek with her fingers. She curved her eyes and lips into crescents as she admired Lucas.

Lucas gradually felt goosebumps appearing all over his body because of her unabashed gaze. "Hey, what kind of terrible thing are you thinking about this time?

"What the hell?" Leigh narrowed her eyes and glared at him. "I want to cleanse my eyes! My spirit is hurt because of the call with Austin, so I need to cleanse my eyes and relieve my nerves by appreciating beauty."

Hah. Lucas squinted at her in disbelief. Those things just come right off the top of her head, don't they?

He asked with an expressionless face, "Can I charge you?"

"Of course!" Leigh nodded. "If I can cure Austin's cousin, the Walker Family have to pay me 20 million. Sebastian will take 70% of the 20 million, and I will divide half of the remaining 30% with the company. I will pay you if there is anything left after that."

He pursed his lips when he did a quick mental division. It seemed that there was not much left for him if he accepted her offer.

Nonetheless, after he heard her sort out the pay, it seemed like she was quite pitiful too. She did all the hard work but wouldn't be paid well for her efforts.

"You'd better keep it for yourself," Lucas said. "That money is not as much as the pocket money Sebastian gives me."

"Is that so... Why don't I ask the Walker Family for more?" Leigh pondered. "I heard that they are quite rich. 20 million for one life is a little on the cheap end. Maybe I should charge them a minimum of 50 million?"

He blinked in befuddlement. The Walker Family had to fork out an extra 30 million because of his casual remarks. They might create voodoo dolls and curse him if they ever learned about this.

"Forget it." Lucas muttered, "Since you've already named a price, don't change the rate. You have to be a woman of honor. You can't go back on your words."

Leigh contemplated the matter and nodded firmly. "Alright, I'll take your advice! This time, I didn't think things through. Next time, I'll charge them more to earn more money for you."

"What?!" He was stunned by her response. "No, you don't have to! I'm just kidding!"

"I'm not. I'm dead serious." Leigh quipped, "Money means nothing to me. I will give the money to the people who are closest to me spiritually. Don't worry, though. There are very few such people. For now, there are only two, including you. So, you don't have to worry about my financial state."

What? Lucas frowned. What does it matter to me if she spends her money carelessly? What's there to be worried about? Also—

"The other person is Madeline?" he asked curiously.

"Of course!" Leigh exclaimed, "Maddie saved my life, so we are friends for life! She is special to me. Even Leah doesn't get the same treatment from me."

"Leah?" Lucas asked, "Leah Sawyer?"

There were more male employees than females in the Oasis Law Office. In addition to Madeline, there were only three women, and one of them was Leah.

"Got it in one." Leigh looked at him with a twinkle in her eye. "You know our firm very well!"

Then, she looked at her watch and said, "Leah's flight is tonight. She is rushing back to attend Maddie's and Sebastian's wedding. I, Leah, and Caitlin are the bridesmaids. Are you his best man?"
