Chapter 465
Chapter 465
Silence swooped down on Harvey for a moment. Then he thanked Leigh. "Thank you, Dr. Shefford."
He did hate Yelena, but Chester was innocent. They shared a great bond. When Chester begged him to let Yelena go, he almost relented, but he knew if he showed Yelena mercy, he would never forgive himself. Leigh solved that problem for him.
Her calling the police would hurt Chester less. At least it wasn't him or his father who did that, but the problem was that Yelena would turn her focus of vengeance onto Leigh.
He thought that it was a stupid move, or that perhaps she was overconfident. Yelena and Chester's grudges were nothing to her and she didn't care if they took revenge on her, so she helped him call the cops. No matter the reason, he still owed it to her.
Harvey stared at her. "Dr. Shefford, I won't forget what you did for us even if I can't be healed. If you need anything, just tell me. As long as it's lawful, I'll do anything."
Oh ho, now this is interesting. I thought she was just drawing unnecessarily aggro, but I see she also gained an ally, Lucas thought.
Harvey's the heir of the Walker Family. Leigh will have a powerful ally by her side if he heals up. She brought down the hammer of justice on the evil and gained genuine gratitude. Nice.
"You will get better." She whipped her phone out and scrolled through it before she gave it to Harvey. "Let's exchange numbers."
Harvey quickly whipped his phone out and exchanged numbers with her.
And then Leigh sent a long voice message to him, mostly about his treatment and condition. "Don't take any showers today. Make sure there's a twenty-four-hour interval between this session and the next. And pick me up tomorrow. Everything else is in that voice message. Do as I say."
Harvey quickly nodded. "Of course."
Finally, she texted him her account number. "And don't forget to pay me. See you tomorrow."
Austin said, "I'll take you home."
"It's alright. Lucas can give me a lift." She held Lucas' arm.
Lucas' lips twitched. The doctor is being a bit too friendly. He had much to say, but not in front of Austin and the Walker Family. Can't embarrass her. Once they were out of the Walker Family's sight, he pulled his arm out. "I don't think that was a good idea. Are you this friendly with everyone?" Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.
Leigh tilted her head to the side. "You wanna know if I'm a slut, aren't you?"
"No, I did not say that." I'm not about to cross her, not when she can cure the diseases most doctors can't.
Leigh said, "Would you believe me if I said you're my first love and I have never held anyone's hand before?"
"I don't think we're dating."
"We went on a blind date." She looked at him seriously. "Which means we're dating. That's how blind dates work. Don't tell me you're ditching me."
"I didn't say that."
"So, you don't like me?" Leigh asked.
"No, you're a fine woman. It's me. I want to stay single."
"Then why did you attend the blind date?" she asked. "You're playing with my feelings here, and that's bad."
"Sebastian made me go."
"Doesn't mean you can play with a girl's feelings." She pressed the elevator button and turned to look at him. "And I wasn't lying."
Lucas froze. "What?"
"You're my first love, and I've never held anyone's hand before." The elevator's door swung open, and she dragged Lucas into it. Since they were alone, she continued, "You're the first guy I have ever had a crush on. I don't do coy. I'm more of a YOLO kind of girl." She tilted her head to the side again. "I've seen many men. All kinds of men, but you're the only one I like. Weird."
Should I also feel weird, or should I feel happy because I managed to charm you?
They came to their floor, and the two of them headed off to the parking lot.
Leigh said, "Don't feel pressured. We're adults, so we can date freely. Just try dating me for a while. If you still don't want to marry me, we can break up and go our separate ways."
"No. That's not fair to you," Lucas said.
"It's alright." She shrugged. "I'm fine with it."
"I can't do that." Lucas stopped in his tracks and looked at her thoughtfully. "You're a great person. You should find a better man."
Leigh cocked her eyebrow. "You're already a better man than most. Handsome, capable, honest, and a gentleman. I think you're fine."
"But I don't want to get married," a resigned Lucas said.
"Not forcing you to," Leigh answered. "We can be lovers if you want. No big deal."
"Don't give me that. I've seen this more than once. Girls always say that only to force the guy to marry them in the end. If they refuse, the girls are going to complain that they wasted their time on the guy for nothing and call them jerks." He shivered. "I can't do that to you."
"You're worried I might do the same thing to you." A laugh escaped her lips. "Do you think I'm the kind of woman who would beg a man to marry me?"
"Um, not really…"
"Don't worry, Lucas." She happily patted his shoulder. "You're overthinking it. I won't beg anyone to marry me. At most, I'd just hold my scalpel against your neck and make you marry me."
That's more terrifying. I have every reason to worry.
"I'm just kidding." She smiled and turned around to head to her car. "You came to the blind date, I like you, and you didn't say you don't like me. So now you're my boyfriend. We're a couple now."
She tilted her head to the side once more. "If you want to shake me off, you have to tell me you don't like me. Give me a proper breakup."
You call yourself a doctor, but I call you a thug.
