Chapter 470
Chapter 470
Madeline couldn't withstand Sebastian's relentless persuasion in the end, and they were engulfed in a night of passionate affirmation of their feelings.
The next morning, Hanson came bright and early to pick up the trio.
Philip, Patrick, and Paul all kept hugging the two boys whom they were reluctant to part with. The three men also kept reminding Hanson to take good care of their beloved grandsons or grandnephews. Hanson felt his shoulders drooping from all the pressure, and his jaws were starting to ache from all his smiles of reassurance.
Hanson breathed out in relief when they were finally in the car at last.
"Uncle Hanson," Buddy piped up curiously. "Are you afraid of my grandpa? Grandpa's a very nice person!"
Hanson didn't know what to say.
Your grandpa's nice to you, but he's the one and only Philip Hart to everyone else! Everyone knows about Old Master Hart, the legendary man who could even move mountains if he wanted to.
Thus, Hanson explained evasively, "I'm not afraid of your grandpa. I simply respect him very much."
"Oh!" Buddy had a look of realization. "I see. Respect means being afraid!"
Hanson was dumbfounded.
His nephew didn't need to be that blunt!
Fortunately for Hanson, the two boys had slept late last night, and Buddy soon fell asleep. Hanson didn't have to suffer any more of Buddy's bluntness.
At Wendel City.
Michael and Crystal waited in eager anticipation until they finally received their daughter and grandchildren.
"Grandpa! Grandma!" Buddy exclaimed and started waving cheerfully when he spotted Michael and Crystal waiting for them.
"My, my!" Michael and Crystal quickly went over to greet them and they each picked up one of their grandsons.
"Good to see you, Grandpa! Good to see you, Grandma!" Aldo greeted politely.
"Yes, it's good indeed now that you're here with us!" Crystal responded to Aldo before kissing Buddy who was in her arms. "Look at you! Aldo and Buddy, you two become more gorgeous each time I see you! I can't imagine anyone not liking either of you."
Everyone's heart would immediately melt at the sight of them, Crystal thought.
Alas, it's a pity we can't put up a fight against Philip and Sebastian, or else, we'd keep Madeline and the boys right by our sides and spend every single day with them!
Michael and Crystal brought Aldo and Buddy into the living room.
The coffee table was filled with an array of delicious food and snacks.
"Whoa!" Buddy's eyes grew large. "So much yummy food!"
"Do you like it?" Crystal smiled. "We prepared everything for the two of you. You can eat anything you like!"
She and Michael had specifically chosen food that was tasty and nutritious for the two children. They didn't include any kind of junk food, so the boys could eat as much as they liked.
"I do!" Buddy cried out happily. "Thank you, Grandma and Grandpa!"
He kissed Crystal.
The feeling of Buddy's plush little lips pressing against her face made her heart turn into a puddle. She sat down on the couch and continued to hold him close as she couldn't bear to let go. "Eat as much as you like, Buddy. If you run out of your favorite food, I'll go and buy more!"
Buddy was dazzled by the choices in front of him. Eventually, he chose a chocolate chip cookie that was full of little chunks of chocolate.
He held the cookie out to Crystal. "Have one, Grandma!"
Crystal smiled widely as she showered Buddy with praises. "What a sweet, adorable, and lovely child
you are, Buddy! Grandma doesn't want to eat the cookie. You can have it, Buddy."
Buddy offered the chocolate chip cookie to everyone and he finally took a small bite once everyone declined.
The chocolate chip cookie was sweet and chewy. He could taste the richness of the chocolate and found the cookie exactly to his liking.
With a blissful look on his face, he grabbed another cookie and stuffed it into Aldo's hand. "Have one, Aldo! It's super yummy!"
He even dragged the word super out to express how much he loved the cookie.
Aldo took a bite and nodded. "It's good."
"I know, right?" Buddy's eyes sparkled with glee as if he had been the one who made the cookie.
Michael and Crystal were deeply amused by their adorable grandson. They stayed right by the two boys as they couldn't bear to leave.
In the evening, all of Madeline's brothers came home.
Every single one of them brought presents for Aldo and Buddy, though quite possibly at Michael and Crystal's bidding.
The two boys had a field day opening presents.
Buddy was an expert at hyping things up. He exclaimed in surprise at every present and gushed over every single detail, which kept the others thoroughly entertained.
In the end, even Cedric, who had been a little awkward around them, was so taken with the boys that he kneeled beside them to play with them.
While he wasn't great with people, he was great at playing with toys, and he had a great time playing with the boys.
That night, Crystal wanted to sleep with Madeline and the two children. She and Madeline brought the boys back to Madeline's room, and Michael had to spend the night alone.
After putting the boys to bed, the mother-daughter duo kept talking well into the night. It was past 2AM when Crystal finally conceded. "Let's sleep. I want to take you out shopping tomorrow."
A lot was happening at the company lately, so Crystal and Michael were busy helping their oldest son out with company matters. It had been a while since they made a trip to Dusktown, so they hadn't seen Madeline and the children in quite some time.
The thought of Madeline having her wedding soon filled Crystal with an unstoppable urge to shop as much as possible!
She wanted to use this chance to make it up to her daughter.
She had started preparing a dowry for Madeline ages ago, which included clothes, accessories, antiques, paintings, and even other assets as well.
Still, she didn't think it was enough. She wanted to take Madeline out shopping.
She had missed out on Madeline's childhood and never got the chance to go shopping with her, so she wanted to make the most of it tomorrow.
All Crystal could think about was buying everything Madeline liked for her. Even just the thought of that filled her with satisfaction.
It had been a long journey and Madeline was exhausted after spending hours talking to the family. She fell asleep soon after closing her eyes.
However, Crystal couldn't fall asleep.
The moonlight shone through the window, and she kept staring at Madeline, Aldo, and Buddy. The more she stared at them, the sadder she felt.
This was the sad part about having a daughter.
Daughters would eventually get married and leave to form a family of their own. She couldn't stay by her daughter's side at all times, and she wouldn't even know if her daughter or grandchildren suffered in any way.
Crystal thought about her sweet and lovely daughter. She worried that Madeline would have to suffer after marrying into an elite family like the Harts.
However, the longer she stared at them, the more resolved she became. It doesn't matter who Madeline marries! It'll be great if he treats her well, but if he doesn't, then I'll do whatever it takes to
stand up for her, even if I have to risk everything.
Even if we can't defeat the Harts, it's not as if we can't do anything!
If the Harts were to treat them poorly, she would simply bring them back home with her. The Wendels can take care of them!
With that thought in mind, Crystal became a lot less resistant toward the wedding. She sighed and closed her eyes as she told herself to hurry up and sleep. NôvelDrama.Org holds © this.
I have to take Madeline and the boys out shopping tomorrow! I'm going to need all the sleep I can get!
